    Summer '03 Trailer

“I don’t believe in love at first sight… But I *do* believe in seeing someone, and knowing instantly they’re going to matter to you.” Blue Fox Ent. has debuted the first official trailer for an indie teen dramedy titled Summer ’03, which first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. Summer ’03 features the legendary June Squibb as a grandmother who decides to reveal some secrets to her granddaughter while on her deathbed, putting the family into a personal crisis. The story focuses on Jamie, played by Joey King (from Independence Day: Resurgence, The Kissing Booth, Slender Man), who is navigating her own young romance in the midst of all this. The cast also includes Andrea Savage, Erin Darke, Paul Scheer, Jack Kilmer, and Kelly Lamor Wilson. This looks rebellious and amusing, another good coming-of-age story. ›››

    Hunter Killer Trailer

“I risked my men… I risked my ship…!” Lionsgate UK has released a new official UK trailer for the action-packed submarine thriller titled Hunter Killer, a modern day submarine movie about an intense American submarine captain who has to rescue another American sub in distress. Gerard Butler stars as Captain Joe Glass, and the movie’s full cast also features Gary Oldman, Common, Linda Cardellini, Caroline Goodall, Michael Nyqvist, Ryan McPartlin, and Toby Stephens. The main plot involves the captain discovering a secret Russian coup, making this the most important mission of his life in order to maintain world order. This trailer has more footage of Gary Oldman, and more footage of the CG action scenes, and it actually looks better than the first trailer. Just by a little. I’m still not too sure, but it might be entertaining. ›››

Watch: Captivating Sci-Fi Short 'Instant' Produced by Roddenberry Ent.

    Instant Short Film

“I want to see the future…” “What’s in the future…?” Another compelling short film to watch, with a bit of a sci-fi twist. Instant is a short film directed by Alex Albrecht, produced by Roddenberry Entertainment, lead by Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, who is the son of legendary Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and Majel Barrett. After a desperate criminal takes a bar hostage, six people must face their demons – past and present – in order to survive. But one of them is keeping a big secret that could change everything in an instant. The film stars Tyler Hilton, Manu Intiraymi, Phil Morris, Emily Chang, Tony Janning, and Tara Perry. This short has a few strong performances, working with an intriguing script that explores some engaging ideas. I wish this was a bit shorter, might be more effective, but it’s still a good short. Enjoy. ›››

New Trailer for Paranoia Horror 'Retina' About Side Effects Gone Awry

    Retina Trailer

“Are there any side effects I should know about?” Screen Media Films has debuted an official trailer for a sci-fi horror thriller titled Retina, from filmmaker Carlos Ferrer (Scallop Pond). The film is about a woman who participates in a medical study, but starts to experience nightmares and unusual side effects. One early review calls it a “low-budget but polished little thriller that invokes the spirit of 70s paranoia thrillers like The Parallax View or The Conversation and 90s indie equivalents like Darren Aronofsky’s Pi.” Retina stars Lindsay Goranson as April, with Gary Swanson, Ian Temple, Ron Haxton, and Jamie Fedorko. The footage doesn’t look that impressive and the poster is way more explosive than the trailer. Take a look. ›››
