11-11: Memories Retold Launches Ahead of the Centenary of WWI Armistice

We’re excited to announce that 11-11: Memories Retold is now available worldwide for Xbox One.

Created by the DigixArt committed to bringing meaningful gaming experiences to a wide audience and the Bristol-based animation studio Aardman, 11-11: Memories Retold begins in 1916.

    11-11: Memories Retold

    11-11: Memories Retold

It is the intertwined story of two characters — Kurt, a German technician searching for his son, and Harry, a naïve Canadian photographer enticed by the excitement of the war in Europe. They will discover the true realities of war, trying to preserve their humanity on opposite sides in the face of disastrous events.

By focusing on the intimate stories of Kurt, Harry, and their animal companions, 11-11 Memories Retold shows the effects that war can have on your relationships with each other, with your families, and ultimately how your principles can shift and change in the crucible of such a horrendous event.

    11-11: Memories Retold

Released to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I, 11-11: Memories Retold is an antithesis to the common World War shooter – aiming to celebrate peace and the humanity of men when faced with the most inhumane of situations. It is a different take on war that goes beyond mere entertainment.

Inspired by oil-on-glass animation movies from Alexander Petrov (such as The Old Man and the Sea and My Love), 11-11: Memories Retold painterly style has been crafted by Aardman to make each chapter of the story a beautiful “living painting” that depicts the emotional journey of the two main characters.

To further elevate the storytelling, Olivier Deriviere’s orchestral score draws its inspiration from French composers such as Ravel, Faure, and Debussy. It was recorded with the London Philharmonia Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

Combined with the lead voice talents of award-winning actors Elijah Wood as Harry, and Sebastian Koch as Kurt, 11-11 Memories Retold delivers a state-of-the-art gaming novel to bring back artistry in a field where others aim to achieve hyperrealism.

    11-11: Memories Retold

11-11 Memories Retold is an interactive war drama where you embody soldiers but not fighters making it a war game that stands for peace. We hope that a small fragment of our heritage will be passed on to the players enjoying it and, through this, that it will revive their interest in a period of our history that tends to be forgotten.

Watch WWI Narrative Adventure 11-11: Memories Retold's Dramatic Launch Trailer

Bandai Namco’s collaboration with Aardman and the minds behind Valiant Hearts is out today.  11-11: Memories Retold is a dramatic narrative-driven adventure, the story follows the intersecting lives of a Canadian photographer (voiced by Elijah Wood) looking for adventure on the European Front during WWI and a German father who learns his son has gone missing in action. As they “discover the reality of war,” their paths will cross on November 11, 1918 as the Great War comes to an end.

The game’s development comes from a collaboration between Aardman Studios (the minds behind Wallace & Gromit) who’ve supplied a unique painterly aesthetic to the game, and DigixArt whose co-founder led the development of award-winning Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Last month Bandai Namco announced DLC for the title with a portion of proceeds going to the War Child charity, which helps children impacted by war.

  • Strategy Guide Publisher Prima Games Is Closing

Strategy Guide Publisher Prima Games Is Closing

Originally founded in 1990, Prima’s parent company, DK, has announced plans to close Prima down fully in Spring and not commission any new video game strategy guides. DK said it was an “extremely difficult decision” and that it comes as a result of a “significant decline” in the video game strategy guide sector. Prima has three offices across the United States that will be directly affected by the closure.

    Our Take
I’ve definitely used a few Prima guides in my gaming lifetime. Generally, I like to play games with as little help as possible, but on those occasions where I finish a game and want to make sure I can see everything it has to offer, I always like having a printed strategy guide next to me for reference. I’m disappointed to hear this news and wish the best of luck to those affected by the closing.

  • Vegeta Achieves Super Saiyan God Form In The Latest Dragon Ball Super: Broly Trailer

Vegeta Achieves Super Saiyan God Form In The Latest Dragon Ball Super: Broly Trailer

Funimation launched the latest trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super movie releasing in theaters on January 16. The highlight of the trailer is a (sort of) new super saiyan form for Vegeta. It’s the god form that Goku originally achieved when he went face-to-face with Beerus, which both Vegeta and Goku surpassed when they took on Frieza for a second time. In this way, Vegeta is almost taking a step backwards, but it’s okay because now his hair can finally match his ‘bad man’ shirt.

For more on the upcoming movie you can watch the first and second trailers by following the links. The movie will show in American theatres in January of next year.

  • Beat Saber Arrives On PlayStation VR This Month With New Content

Beat Saber Arrives On PlayStation VR This Month With New Content

Beat Saber released in early access for PC VR platforms earlier this year, and it really grabbed our attention. Sony announced intentions to bring to PlayStation VR earlier this year, but not we know exactly when it will be releasing, and what will be included with the game.

The PlayStation VR version of Beat Saber will be available on November 20 and alongside all the content and music of the early access version of the game available on PC, new songs will be included as well as new sabers. It’s unclear exactly when that content will be coming to the PC versions of the game, but the game’s developer promises it will be soon.

Dear Rift & Vive players, new sabers, modifiers and practice mode will be added to PC version much sooner in upcoming updates, while campaign and 5 new tracks will come to other platforms at a later date.

    Our Take
I’ll go on record saying that Beat Saber is VR best game and its best hope for the future. Super excited to see it make its way to PlayStation VR.

*We did not force him to do this. This is something he decided to do on his own.

  • Disney Announces Second Live-Action Star Wars Series

Today, Disney announced its second live-action Star Wars series, which will be a “spy thriller” centered on the rebel hero, Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna in 2016’s Rogue One. Going into production next year, the series will be a part of Disney’s upcoming live-streaming service, Disney+ and will follow the exploits of Cassian Andor before the events of Rogue One during the Rebellion’s early years.

Reprising his role as the rebel spy, Luna has said that the opportunity to return to the Star Wars universe is “very special,” and that he’s excited to explore the character further.

So far, no official release date has been confirmed.

Last month, the complete list of directors for the previously announced Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian was confirmed. If you haven’t been keeping track of all the cool, new Star Wars content coming soon, make the Kessel Run, and jump over to that article post-haste.
