  • McDonald’s Canada Confirms Ronald Will Not Be A Fighter In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The internet is a weird place. With rumors spreading about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one fan decided to ask McDonald’s Canada about the inclusion of a certain famous clown mascot. Why not, right?

McDonald’s Canada promptly tweeted back a response, confirming that there are no current plans to bring Ronald McDonald to the upcoming game.

Hi Chris. Although seeing Ronald McDonald battle other characters in Smash Bros would be pretty neat, he will not be making an appearance in the new game as of right now.

  • More Than 29,000 Dominoes Used In Incredible Red Dead Redemption II Tribute

Red Dead Redemption II has been out for a few weeks now, and it been receiving massive success and record-breaking sales. YouTuber TheDominoKing, known best for his pop-culture and video game-related domino masterpieces, has dedicated his latest project to the massive open-world Western.

With 29,375 dominoes, TheDominoKing portrays Arthur Morgan, Red Dead’s logo, and one of Arthur’s quotes. It took a week to create, and he started before he even played the game.

“I started working on this video before I even had the chance to play the game, so I had high hopes for the game, which I can gladly say it lived up to,” writes TheDominoKing in the YouTube description.

You can watch the short but impressive video below.

Check out our feature about the different directions Rockstar can take for Red Dead Redemption II’s story DLC. For more domino tributes, check out this one dedicated to Spider-Man.

  • See How The DS Was Able To Pull Off The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Tracks In This Video

See How The DS Was Able To Pull Off The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Tracks In This Video

The DS Legend of Zelda games are some of the series’ most forgotten. Eschewing traditional controls for a purely touched-based approach, both Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks split the Zelda community. I for one love their dungeons designs, but think Phantom Hourglass had issues with the central dungeon you had to revisit multiple times, while Spirit Tracks felt too small for a Zelda game and had several frustrating segments. Its central dungeon, however, was pretty good.

Anyway, the latest episode of youtuber Shesez’s series Boundary Break takes a look at some of the tricks that makes Spirit Tracks tick. While there’s a classic movement trick pulled off here (moving the environment around an object instead of moving the object itself in order to simulate movement), there are some more interesting things to observe, such as several rooms reserved exclusively for your chats with a single side character, how objects in the world exist only when they’re in your view (this is fairly common in video game and is known as “culling,” but this is a pretty extreme case).

Microsoft has announced that its oft-delayed Crackdown 3 finally has a release date. The explosive open-world action title is set to launch on February 15.

During its XO18 stream, Microsoft gave players a look at a new multiplayer mode that leans heavily on the environmental destruction the Crackdown 3 developers have touted since the initial reveal. In Wrecking Zone, destroying the city is one of the best ways to take down your opponents.

To celebrate this news, Microsoft announced that the original Crackdown will be offered free of charge to all players through November 30. Players can redeem their copy (with Xbox One X enhancements) through the Microsoft Store.

  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy Will Eat Up 67.5GB of PS4 Hard Drive Space

    Gobbled up.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy sees all three of Insomniac Games’ classic platformers scaled up to PlayStation 4 standard, and it turns out that takes up a lot of hard drive space. Images posted on ResetEra by someone who sourced an early copy show that the game’s initial installation only takes up 31.5GB – but with patches applied you’ll be pushing double that.

Bizarrely, the day one patch is around 19GB, but the total file size ends up at approximately 67.5GB, so there may be some compression to the update going on here. Regardless, you’re going to need a lot of spare space on your console – but what else is new in that department? Are you going to have to make room for the purple fire breather?

  • Obsidian, InXile Will No Longer Make PlayStation Games

    Both join the Xbox family.

Microsoft has added two more former multiformat developers to its first-party roster, meaning that both Obsidian Entertainment and InXile Entertainment will no longer make PlayStation games. The former is perhaps best known for Fallout: New Vegas, while the latter created Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. Both studios have PlayStation 4 projects in the pipeline in Pillars of Eternity 2 and Wasteland 3, and presumably it’ll be allowed to deliver these before it turns its attention to full-time exclusives.

These are the latest in spate of Xbox acquisitions, which have also seen the likes of Ninja Theory join the team in green. In the case of Obsidian Entertainment specifically, recent sales figures for Pillars of Eternity 2 painted it as a “sales disaster”, and there was some discussion that the studio was on the verge of collapse. As such, this is probably a win for everyone involved, even if it means we’re probably not going to see the Knights of the Old Republic 2 developer put anything on PlayStation again.
