    Sensational Sports Sales

All the major sports title may have already been released, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re late to the game. In fact, with many of them on sale for Black Friday and having updated since launch (oftentimes addressing maddening bugs, etc.) and some added content, now’s a great time to pick up some of these titles.

Many of these can be found on the digital storefronts for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as regular retailers*, but check before clicking or heading out. Some of these also might be console-specific, only be digital, have different start/end times for their sales, have different sale pricing, etc.

Furthermore, some are offering deals on titles’ special editions and in-game currency, so if you’re interested in playing a game’s fantasy collection mode like Ultimate Team, for instance, and want to pay for some premium currency, it can pay to get those too.

*Full Disclosure – Game Informer is owned by Gamestop.

    F1 2018

    FIFA 19
A new update is coming for the title addressing issues like A.I. defending, and an interesting addition in general this year is the different exhibition modes – including playing without any cards or rules.

    Forza Horizon 4

The changing seasons is a big feature for this iteration, and since these change for all players in the world, developer Playground Games has added seasonal events as well as free cars for everyone.

    The Golf Club 2019
This year the game features the PGA Tour license, and it’s already added a free DLC course – Atlantic Beach Country Club. This brings the number of official courses to seven. Of course the course creator lets you make and play an unlimited amount.

    Laser League

    Madden NFL 19
Madden didn’t have the best start, but developer EA Tiburon has been releasing more and more updates trying to get a handle on the bugs and tune gameplay (here’s the latest update). Along the way Ultimate Team – this year with a new power-up system – has been getting regular content.

    MLB the Show 18

    NASCAR Heat 3

NBA 2K19 (on sale for both home consoles)
NBA City Edition uniforms have been added as well as the new NBA rule that the shot clock resets to 14 seconds after offensive rebounds. A slew of other fixes have also been included in the game’s updates, as well as MyTeam content.

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 (on sale for both home consoles)

    NBA Live 19

Like last year, NBA Live 19 is holding Livestrikes which let you complete challenges for exclusive in-game content, including apparel from BAPE and Mitchell & Ness. The game has also been updating its player likenesses.

    NHL 19

    OOTP Baseball 19
The simulation game is adding a free fantasy card mode called Perfect Team which is currently in beta (click here for our impressions) and is hopefully out before the end of the year.

    Pro Evolution Soccer 2019
A post-launch update fixed annoying tendencies from the A.I. attackers, and the MyClub fantasy mode has been adding Featured players doing well in real-life, ways to get other players, and challenges.

    Rocket League GOTY Edition

    UFC 3

  • Black Friday 2018: The Broken, Buggy Fallout 76 Discounted After a Week

    Deals for desperate disappointment.

If you bought Fallout 76 then not only will you have received a desperately disappointing, buggy, borderline broken game – you’ll also have paid over the odds for it. Just a week after release – and one gigantic, pointless patch later – Bethesda has decided to discount the title heavily, slapping all of its fans in the face in the process.

You can currently snag the open world survival title for a few cents over $40 from the North American PlayStation Store, but Amazon is carrying cut-price physical copies in the UK and the USA as well:

  • Hands On: Fallout 76's Massive 47GB Patch Does Nothing to Improve the Game's Awful Performance on PS4

    Great.

Earlier this week, Fallout 76 update 1.02 launched on PlayStation 4. The colossal 47GB patch promised performance improvements, specifically a fix for the game’s stuttering issue. Those of you who have read our review of the release will already know that we highlighted this problem because it has a substantial negative impact on general gameplay. The stuttering occurs both in and out of combat, and stutters often mean that your inputs aren’t registered. The game’s clunky to begin with, but the stuttering makes it unbearable at times.

  • Sony Reportedly Bans PSN Account Over Cultural Misunderstanding

    No solution in sight.

It’s a holiday in the United States, so that means there are no press releases to mull over and games industry drama gets a big fat spotlight shined in its eyes instead. To be fair, this is an unfortunate story that we hope will be resolved promptly. Over on Reddit, a Mexican gamer claims that his PlayStation Network account has been closed due to a cultural misunderstanding.

According to his post, his username Kike_0615 was banned due to it including an offensive term. But as he explains, Kike is short for Enrique, which is his real name. Of course the word is also used as a derogatory name for Jewish people, which is why the ban was issued in the first place. “I’m really sorry if I offend anyone by posting my nickname, I swear to God that’s my nickname since I was little,” he explained.

  • NieR: Automata Is Getting a Game of the YoRHa Edition

    It’s going 2B great.

NieR: Automata didn’t really win many Game of the Year awards, but that’s not a requisite for a reprint these days. Gematsu has spotted an ESRB rating for a Game of the YoRHa edition, which will presumably come with all of the character action title’s DLC included on the disc. That title rivals any THQ Nordic pun by the way – good work Square Enix.

The package is yet to be officially announced but it’s extremely rare for the ESRB to rate a product that doesn’t exist. As such, you should probably expect confirmation over the coming days. In the meantime, become as gods in the comments section below.

  • These PSone Sneakers Are the Third Best Thing You'll See This Thanksgiving

Turkey being the best, the PS Classic ad being second.

When he wasn’t putting up 25 points in a convincing win for Oklahoma City Thunder against current NBA champs the Golden State Warriors, small forward Paul George was on the PlayStation Blog writing about his new PSone-inspired sneakers. The gorgeous Nike PG 2.5 x PlayStation Colorways come courtesy of a renewed collaboration between the star, Nike Basketball, and Sony. You may remember the previous, PlayStation 4-style shoes from earlier in the year.

“This time around, I wanted to take the design old school, back to my earliest days of gaming,” he said. “For me – as I’m sure many of you can relate – those memories date back to the original PlayStation. Working with Nike and PlayStation, we focused on bringing that original PlayStation inspiration to life in this new design.”

  • Asus ROG Phone salted to launch in India on November 29

Asus’ gaming brand, Republic of Gamers (ROG) is set to launch its first gaming smartphone in India on November 29. The upcoming phone is said to be the first in the world with a 3D vapour-chamber cooling system.

The Taiwanese company first unveiled the Asus ROG Phone at Computex in June 2018, and now, almost five months later, it’s finally set to arrive in India. Neither price nor availability details of the phone are currently known.

    Gaming features

The highlights of the Asus ROG Phone are the gamer-centric design with side-mounted ports optimised for landscape mode, a 90Hz refresh rate, ultrasonic AirTrigger touch sensors, and a 1ms response time. The device is powered by a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, clocked to an upper limit of 2.96GHz, alongside a Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU optimised for gaming.

In addition to the GameCool vapour-chamber cooling system, there is also a detachable Aero-Active Cooler for extra cooling. The ROG Phone comes with the optional TwinView DOck for dual-screen handheld mode, a Mobile Desktop Dock for desktop-style gaming, and a Gamevice controller with WiGig Dock for big-screen gaming.

    Phone specs

The device is powered by a custom 2.96Ghz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, alongside a Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU optimised for gaming. It runs the ROG Gaming UI, and has a 6-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display (1080×2160). The display also boasts a 108.6 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut, and 10000:1 contrast ratio.

Connectivity options run the gamut: WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, AGPS, Glonass, USB Type-C, NFC, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Internal storage on the device is up to 512GB, and 8GB of RAM. Sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor and the aforementioned ultrasonic AirTrigger sensors. The ROG phone also features a dual rear camera with 12MP and 8MP sensors each, as well as an 8MP selfie camera at the front of the device.

The phone packs a 4000mAh battery that promises 7 straight hours of WiFi gameplay. With Asus HyperCharge direct-charge technology, the company claims that the battery can be charged to 60 per cent in a mere 33 minutes.

Due to the absence of pricing information, it’s hard to say whether the Asus ROG Phone will be a value-for-money option. But it’s definitely a fresh offering in the Indian market; its only two competitors, Xiaomi’s Black Shark gaming smartphone and the Razor Phone, are unavailable in India. The ROG Phone will definitely be one to keep an eye out for.

It’s crucial you buy a PS4 camera along with your VR headset, otherwise, it will not work. Don’t pay more than the standard £40/$60 for the camera though.  Sony released an updated, rounder (see image above) model with a built-in TV-mount and there are deals included in the chart below, usually priced around £40-£45, which isn’t bad considering the new clip. The older PS4 camera is also compatible with PlayStation VR. If there’s nothing tempting below, maybe try for a new/preowned unit via eBay?

    PlayStation Move controller deals

The PlayStation Move motion controllers are very much an optional purchase as not every game supports them. Many that do, also have options to use the standard DualShock 4 PS4 controller instead.

Move wands aren’t as readily available as the cameras at the moment, but there are deals to be found if you shop around -or let us do it via that magical box below. some of the more expensive results are actually for twin packs. We’d advise a little caution if you’re considering preowned units, as the lack of use in recent years may have dulled the charge capacity of the battery compared to new controllers. If you want to try your luck (and probably save a fair amount), here are some handy links for eBay.
