  • Coming Soon to Xbox Game Pass for PC: Creature in the Well, Gears 5, Enter the Gungeon, and More

    Happy post-gamescom everybody!

Thanks to everyone who’s been with us on our journey since we introduced Xbox Game Pass for PC in beta a few months ago. We’ve launched a lot of games, made a lot of new friends, and learned a lot along the way. Based on your feedback, we’re making some changes to how we drop new games, and some big improvements to the Xbox (Beta) app going forward.

From now on, we’re going to announce new PC games separately from new Console games, because we’ve heard that some people might be a bit confused about which games are coming to each platform. We hope this will make it much easier to understand which games are included for PC vs Console, but don’t forget that (as always) any game announced for either PC or Console will be included with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.

Check out the list below for a sampling of what’s coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC this month, and keep an eye on our @XboxGamePassPC Twitter handle for confirmation when each title is available to play, and for announcements about additional games we haven’t revealed just yet!

Games Coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC This Month:

    Bad North: Jotuun Edition
Your home is under attack. The king is dead at the hands of Viking invaders. Hope is a distant glimmer in the fog, fading fast with every passing moment. As you rise to take your father’s place as ruler, it will fall to you to stage your defenses. But make no mistake – this is no fight for victory, but a desperate grasp for survival.

    Dead Cells
Dead Cells puts you in control of a failed alchemic experiment trying to figure out what’s happening on a sprawling, ever-changing and seemingly cursed Island. Tough but fair combat, responsive controls, challenging foes, permadeath and of course, the emergency panic roll to get you out of trouble, make for a demanding, visceral and cathartic action game.

We’ll have more games coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC throughout the month, so stay tuned to Xbox Wire and @XboxGamePassPC for details…

    In case you missed it…

As we mentioned up top, we’re also making some key improvements to our  Xbox (Beta) app, which we announced on stage at Gamescom.

    • Find Your Friends Across Networks: LFG is cool, but you want to find the friends you know who rank on the leaderboards – so we added account linking options for you. You can search via their Xbox Gamertags, as well as search friends from Steam and Facebook. You can also link your accounts for Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube, and we’re adding Discord and reddit in the coming weeks, so your friends can keep up with your gaming.
    • More Control on Managing Downloads: You’ll have more control when you install a game from the Xbox (Beta) app with a drive selector, and we’ve made it easier to see how much space the game requires. Then you can figure out if you have room on your SSD for this game, or if you need to clear out some old ones to make room for the new games.
    • New Ways to Find and Filter Games: We hear you. It’s hard to find your next favorite game if you can’t actually find the game. We’ve improved the filters from the sidebar to make finding your games easier and managing your games and your DLC’s even easier.
    • PC Joins the Mobile App (Beta): We’re adding the PC (Beta) catalog to the Xbox Game Pass mobile app (Beta). With this update, you can now browse games in the Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta) library and download them to your PC anytime and anywhere. Get your games installed and prepped before you’re home. Download the Xbox Game Pass mobile app (Beta) here – We’re currently available in public beta on Android devices, and in a closed Beta on iOS devices.

If you want to keep up with all the games we’re adding to the PC Beta, follow us on Twitter. And if you’re ready to make gaming your main hobby since people frown at you for saying reddit is your hobby (just me? >!Insert meIRL meme here!<), you can easily check it out and get your first month of Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta) for $1.

  • Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast Feels the Force of PS4

    Force the players.

Nintendo spotlighted a series of cult classics during its presentation earlier today, and some of those titles will make their way to the PlayStation 4 as well. Among them is Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, which will launch on Sony’s system from 24th September. It’ll be followed by Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy in 2020.

Fascinatingly, this will mark the first time either title has launched on a PlayStation platform. It should round out a bumper selection of Star Wars adventures on the PS4, with Respawn Entertainment’s all-new Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order also due out this holiday.

  • E3 Star Ikumi Nakamura, Creative Director on GhostWire Tokyo, Leaves Developer Tango Gameworks

    Just like that.

Remember Bethesda’s shockingly awful E3 2019 press conference? One of the event’s only highlights was seeing the enthusiastic Ikumi Nakamura take to the stage and introduce the intriguing looking GhostWire Tokyo. The creative director won over the hearts of many with her obvious passion, but as it turns out, Nakamura is actually leaving developer Tango Gameworks.

  • PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2 Will Be a Capcom-Made PS5 Launch Title, Says Totally Bogus Sounding Rumour

    Crapcom.

How many times have we heard a decidedly dodgy rumour about PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2? Here’s one from 2014. Here’s another from 2017. And there have been plenty more in between. This latest “leak” says the sequel to 2012’s PlayStation 3 and Vita fighter will be released alongside the PS5, and — get this — it’s being developed by both “Sony” and Capcom.

  • Controversial NBA 2K20 Trailer Prompts Internal PEGI Review

    It’s a basketball game, apparently.

2K Sports’ flagship basketball sim franchise is renowned for its flagrant use of microtransactions and gambling-esque mechanics, but NBA 2K20 could be the straw that broke the camel’s back. While the latest entry is looking to up the ante in all areas, from character creation all the way through to Hollywood cameos, a recent trailer for MyTeam has been pulled from the series’ official channel after attracting over 16,000 dislikes.

The reason? Well, frankly it looks like a casino game. Depicted in the video are slot machines, Wheel of Fortune-style games of chance, and plenty of fist-pumping as rare cards are pulled from loot box-ish packs. It’s a tone-deaf trailer that deserves the level of criticism it’s attracted — especially when you consider the wider context of the microtransaction conversation that’s been going on elsewhere in the industry of late.

We don’t post stories about cosplay very often, but this one’s turning heads. American rapper, singer, and producer T-Pain showed up to Dragon Con 2019 in Atlanta this past weekend dressed up as Leroy Smith — the new original character coming to Tekken 7 later this year.

  • Review: Catherine: Full Body – The Definitive Catherine Experience

    Like a fine wine.

A whole eight years after its original release on PlayStation 3, Catherine remains a unique experience. A mix of visual novel-style storytelling and often hellish puzzle solving, it’s a game that’s aged surprisingly well. Catherine: Full Body enhances the visuals, expands the story, adds to the already sublime soundtrack, and brings a suite of new difficulty options and gameplay modes to the table. In short, it’s the definitive release of Catherine.

Taking place over the course of a week or so, you fill the shoes of Vincent Brooks, an indecisive 32 year old man who can’t seem to come to terms with his responsibilities as an adult. Catherine’s grounded (and potentially relatable) themes are its greatest strength. It’s these mundane yet intriguing insights into Vincent’s life that steal the show, and the hook is seeing how his relationships with friends, acquaintances, and lovers evolve over the course of the narrative.
