  • Amazon Games Details Huge PVP Wars In Its Upcoming MMO New World

Despite a delay in development due to coronavirus, the team at Amazon Games’ Irvine, California studio are forging ahead with New World, and have dropped new details on the epic-sounding PVP encounters in the 17th Century-themed MMO.

New World sees players claim territory on the cursed island of Aeternum, where they’ll have to contend with both PVE and PVP attacks as that territory is contested. A new developer blog has released information about the latter, detailing what will be involved in a player war.

Unlike other PVP games, attacking another player’s territory isn’t just a free-for-all. Firstly, players have to join one of three Factions, allowing them to team up with some players and wage war on others. In order to declare war on a territory, the controlling Faction’s influence must first be weakened by completing missions.

    Importance of Cinema Video Tribute

“One simple question. A world of emotions.” While everyone waits patiently at home all over the world for movie theaters to reopen, Lost in Film has put together a video tribute to the importance of cinema. They reached out to various cinephiles across the world and asked them to answer this simple question: “Why do you love cinema?” They then edited a video together featuring footage from various films and the answers they received, highlighting different perspectives and points of view about the importance of cinema in our lives. The result is something that will certainly make you emotional, and remind you why you love movies and keep watching them. That’s why you read this site anyway, right? I always love watching these rousing video tributes to the magic of movies & the power of visual storytelling, and this one is especially wonderful. ›››

Watch: Gorgeous, Inspiring Short ‘Holy Dog’ Starring Brady Jandreau

    Holy Dog Short Film

“If there’s something you wanna see, if there’s something you wanna do, put your head down and go for it because… nobody knows when God’s going to call their name.” Oh my, what a beautiful short film. Holy Dog is a short film made by Shern Sharma starring American cowboy Brady Jandreau – the very same Brady who starred in the outstanding film The Rider. This is kinda a follow-up to that, following Brady after his traumatic injuring riding a bucking bronco. In this short, he heads down to the Patagonia highlands in South America (the city seen in this is Santiago, Chile, though they also used Argentinian film services). I just love how poetic and moving and inspiring Brady’s words are. Especially the part about how people have “forgotten about just living” and how we can’t choose our passions but we can embrace them. A must watch. ›››

  • Huntdown Is the Playable 80s Action Movie You’ve Been Dreaming Of

He’s been a man since he was a boy.

Holy macaroni, this looks good! Huntdown is a 16-bit side-scrolling shooter inspired by 80s action movies of old, and it looks absolutely fantastic. In addition to some stellar cyberpunk-style sprite work, the title also includes heroes such as Anna Conda, John Sawyer, and Mow Man. “His blood type spells AK-47.”

There’s not much to add to this one apart from that we want to play it! A release date is pegged for 12th May on the PlayStation Store, and you can bet your Arnold Schwarzenegger movie collection that we’ll be there day one.

  • Evo 2020 Canceled Due To COVID-19, Organizers Planning Digital Event

Evo 2020 Canceled Due To COVID-19, Organizers Planning Digital Event

The organizers behind the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) have announced that its 2020 event is canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Evo 2020 was originally scheduled to take place July 31 to August 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Instead of a physical event, the Evo team is creating an online event, which will occur this summer.

You can see the full statement from the Evo team below.

    A message from the Evo team… pic.twitter.com/ANXUXDiNGK

    — EVO (@EVO) May 1, 2020

Since the postponement of Game Developers Conference in March, nearly every game industry event has been either canceled or postponed, including E3 and Gamescom. While GDC and Gamescom subsequently announced digital alternatives to their canceled shows, the uncertainty of when it will be safe to hold large in-person gatherings looms. With digital events being the only option for now, The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley today announced Summer Game Fest to fill the hole left by the bevy of expo cancellations and to help bridge the gap between publishers and fans.

According to the Evo organizers, we will learn more about the team’s planned online event soon. Hopefully that means we’ll still get a chance to see the best fighting game competitors duke it out later this summer, even if that presents additional technical challenges.
