The Meanest, Grittiest, and Deadliest Movie of the Year? Already? Well, we’ll have to see if that holds true. Entertainment Weekly has unveiled their latest cover and it’s a first look at some of the characters (only three of the eight!) from Quentin Tarantino’s new western The Hateful Eight. He was filming all of late last year, and is preparing the film for release late this year, but we have yet to see an actual teaser. “For me it has more of a Western Iceman Cometh kind of vibe about it,” Tarantino says of Hateful Eight. “A bunch of guys in a room who can’t trust each other… That wasn’t a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle.” I’m ready, let’s see some footage. ›››

Get Ready for Ricky! Batten down the hatches, board up the windows, lock every door, she’s a’comin’! Sony has finally debuted the first trailer for Ricki and the Flash, the newest film written by Academy Award-winner Diablo Cody, starring Academy Award-winner Meryl Streep, directed by Academy Award-winner Jonathan Demme. But does all that past winning make for a good film? You tell us. Streep stars as Ricki, a rockin’, rogue, guitar playin’ mother who must head home to rekindle a rocky relationship with her family. “We’re absolutely talking about the tip of the iceberg.” Ahead of its premiere in the Cannes Market, the first trailer for Amy Berg’s documentary An Open Secret has debuted, profiling the controversy about sexual assault allegations involving children working in Hollywood. This is the doc that we’ve been hearing about ever since the Bryan Singer story made headlines, and he’s one of the cases discussed. Amy Berg is a very talented filmmaker (West of Memphis about the West Memphis Three riled me up) and I am very curious to see what she has uncovered in this. “You expect me to cry, scream, say ‘dear God, why me?!’ …That’s not me.” The first trailer for Return to Sender has debuted, and we probably wouldn’t be interested if it didn’t star Rosamund Pike (of Gone Girl, The World’s End, Jack Reacher). The plot is simple: A nurse living in small town goes on a blind date with a man who is not the person he says he is. Pike plays that “meticulous small-town nurse” and it looks like she’s got some fun tricks up her sleeve, too. The cast includes Rumer Willis, Nick Nolte and Shiloh Fernandez. This doesn’t look particularly impressive, but at least maybe the performances will be good. ›››
