The Latest LEGO Ideas Set Is A Gaming Classic

I swear every house I visited while growing up in the late ‘70s, early ‘80s had a wooden Labyrinth Marble Maze game. Thanks to the LEGO Ideas program and creator JK Brickworks, it’ll be making a comeback later this year.

The alternative headline for this post was “Hot Blond Dancing In A Teddie,” but that would have confused our Japanese readers who know Persona 4’s mascot as Kuma.

Watch: Disgusting Giant Mutant Wasp Movie 'Stung' Official Trailer

    Stung Trailer

“Avoid everything here – it’s bad.” XYZ Films and IFC Midnight have debuted a trailer for the movie Stung, from director Benni Diez, a horror about disgusting giant mutant, ugly ass wasps, that need to be slayed right now. Clifton Collins Jr., Jessica Cook, David Masterson & Lance Henriksen star as guests at a party that goes to hell when these mutant wasps emerge from the ground. The description claims that it has a “seamless blend of CGI and oozing practical effects”, but I can’t really tell. It’s also supposed to be a horror comedy but none of the jokes really hit either. Anyway, take a look and let us know what you think. ›››

Interview: 'Sunshine Superman' Director Marah Strauch Talks Docs

    Marah Strauch Interview

“If there are mountains, let’s climb them. If there are buildings, let’s jump off them.” One of the most inspiring documentaries I’ve seen recently is Sunshine Superman, which premiered at TIFF and the New York Film Festival last year. It’s an exhilarating and amusing and nostalgic story of Carl Boenish, one of the founders of BASE jumping, a man full of so much joy. Sunshine Superman is directed by Marah Strauch, a young filmmaker making her feature debut, but she made her mark and is definitely going places. I was lucky enough to catch up with Marah while she was in New York City for a brief visit, and I asked her a bunch of questions about how she made Sunshine Superman, and what her plans are moving forward now. ›››

  • William Fichtner Also Cast in Emmerich's 'Independence Day' Sequel

William Fichtner Also Cast in Emmerich's 'Independence Day' Sequel

    William Fichtner

The cast for this big sequel continues to grow, with yet another intriguing name. Deadline reports that actor William Fichtner is joining Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day 2 as a “top general”. Apparently Fichtner’s role as a general will get “even larger in the two films that will follow.” Very interesting. Fichtner has appeared in a variety of films recently, including The Homesman, Elysium, The Lone Ranger, Phantom, Wrong, Drive Angry and The Dark Knight of course. He’s always great to see in a movie, and I’m curious why his role will expand as it goes on. Does something happen to him or is he just a survivor? This also indicates that Fox is really pushing forward with a new trilogy of Independence Day movies coming up. ›››

Review: 'San Andreas' is a Clear Indication the Disaster Movie is Dead

    San Andreas Review

The ground shakes. Buildings fall. Hope rises. The crowd falls asleep… That’s about where we’re at with disaster movies and have been under this same model since the aliens invaded on Independence Day nearly 20 years ago. Sure, gimmicks like found footage and the glorious discovery of 3D (Thanks, Cameron) have given disaster movies a glossy, new coat, but it’s the same gears moving it all forward underneath. Did you really think San Andreas, the latest, disaster flick from Warner Bros, would shake things up? Don’t let the assumed size of the film’s title fool you. San Andreas keeps it right at that level we’ve all grown tired of. ›››
