Next Trailer for Ang Lee's War Drama 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk'

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk Trailer

“Make it about something bigger than yourself…” Sony Pictures has debuted the second official trailer for Ang Lee’s adaptation of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, an emotional look at the Iraq war as seen through the eyes of a soldier being honored during halftime at a football game. The first teaser trailer was impressive, and this new trailer hints at even more potential for Ang Lee’s 3D 120FPS drama about the emotional toll of war. Joe Alwyn stars as Billy Lynn, and the cast includes Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel, Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin, Chris Tucker and many others. The film premiered at the New York Film Festival earlier this month to mixed reviews, most criticizing the HFR. This is quite an intense trailer. ›››

  • Resident Evil 7 and Dead Rising 4 Sales Projections Revealed

Resident Evil 7 and Dead Rising 4 Sales Projections Revealed

Capcom has announced how many copies it is projecting that Resident Evil 7, Dead Rising 4, and Monster Hunter XX will sell at launch.

As part of the company’s earnings report this week, Capcom projected Resident Evil 7 will be the biggest of the three, selling 4 million units. Dead Rising 4 and Monster Hunter XX are expected to sell 2 million copies each. Note that these are not lifetime sales projections, but only for their initial launch windows, through March 2017. Another thing to note is that the sales projections account for physical and digital copies.

Dead Rising 4 launches on December 6 for Xbox One and PC (and could come to PlayStation 4 later), while Resident Evil 7 follows on January 24 when it arrives for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Monster Hunter XX, which was only just announced this week, lands in Japan only on March 18.

Capcom also confirmed today that Resident Evil 7’s free PS4 demo has reached 4 million downloads as of October 15. This is up from 3 million in September. The demo was initially only available to PlayStation Plus subscribers, but now anyone can try it out.

  • Deadly Premonition Creator Shows Impressive Tattoo and Gets His Butt Cheeks Out

Deadly Premonition Creator Shows Impressive Tattoo and Gets His Butt Cheeks Out

Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro has made Deadly Premonition, very casually became a Buddhist Monk, and he loves cats–even when they bite him. It’s safe to say, he’s a pretty cool human being. But now, he’s gone one step further and got himself a full body Yakuza-style tattoo and it’s insane.

He posted a picture of the tat on his Instagram and it will be featured in the Men of Game Development calendar, which is a collection of developers from across the video game industry, often posing in their pants and nothing else.

Not one to be topped, Swery has gone for a badass hero pose that displays his tattoo of Sharapova, a plush monkey he loves. Of course, Sharapova is wearing a t-shirt that has Swery’s name on it. Oh and by the way, Sharapova isn’t named after the famous tennis player. Swery doesn’t even like tennis. The man is an enigma.

Also on display is a Japanese undergarment called a Fundoshi, which is nestled in between Swery’s glistening butt cheeks. Check out the image below and despair that you’ll never look as cool or be brave enough to take that kind of picture.

Warning: This could be NSFW, depending on how much your boss appreciates rad tats and sweet cheeks.

If you’re interested in getting this image, or another picture of a mostly nude male game developer, check out the Men of Game Development 2017 Kickstarter page, where canvas prints are also on offer.

Other developers for you to pick include BioWare Montreal’s Manveer Heir, Hi-Rez’s Jonathan Crines, Bungie’s Andy Xiao, DrinkBox Studios’ Steph Goulet, Naughty Dog’s Boon Cotter, and of course Iron Galaxy’s Dave Lang.

And now, for a close up of Swery’s butt. Have a nice day everyone.

  • PS4 Pro's 80s-Inspired Ad Touts Totally Fresh Graphics

PlayStation UK has tweeted out an 80s-inspired advert for the PlayStation 4 Pro to promote its “super-charged” upcoming console. It touts the hardware’s “super compact mega processor, revolutionary cord-free player paddle joysticks, and super fresh graphics.”

To be honest, I wasn’t sold on the hardware but then I saw how excited the dude in the advert was and I am now on board. I mean, he’s wearing an outfit made of denim, rocking sick red Reebok pumps, and has a glorious mullett, which means he’s the epitome of cool. And if he thinks it’s cool then it must be cool.

    Reebok Pumps… MJ… GnR… Pac-man… BTTF and PS4 Pro? We ♡ the 80s! #Woahhh pic.twitter.com/qfoysB7iFm

    — PlayStation UK (@PlayStationUK) October 28, 2016

PS4 Pro launches on November 10 and will cost $399/£349/A$560. The more powerful console is aimed at the higher-end gamers. As previously stressed by Sony, it is not an entirely new architecture and thus not a new generation of PlayStation hardware.

Among the upgrades in the PS4 Pro are a 1TB hard drive, doubled GPU power, and technology adapted from AMD Polaris graphical architecture. All this means the PS4 Pro can reach resolutions that Sony says were “not thought possible on consoles” in 2016.

The big new features PS4 Pro introduces is 4K and HDR, which PlayStation exec Andrew House described as “natural” paths of progression for visual fidelity. Lead architect Mark Cerny added that these “take the PS4 experience to extraordinary new levels.”

For lots more on the PS4 Pro, check out GameSpot’s in-depth overview, which covers the console’s HDR and 4K functionality and more. You can also see all the games with PS4 Pro support here.

  • New Kingdom Hearts 3 Screenshots Shows Keyblade Transformations

New Kingdom Hearts 3 Screenshots Shows Keyblade Transformations

Square Enix has released two new screenshots for Kingdom Hearts 3. These were first showcased during its presentation at Paris Games Week, and show a new Drive Form called Guard Form. In the first image we can see Sora wielding what looks like a powered up version of Herc’s Shield.

In a second image, Sora is transforming the Keyblade into a massive hammer to smash a Heartless. According to a Square Enix Twitter post, “this power form was edited as it is the Keyblade from a world that hasn’t been released yet, so it has changed into a hammer shape.”

  • Konami's Sales Dip, But Profit Rises Thanks to Arcade and Health Businesses

Konami has reported its financial performance for the six month period spanning April 1 to September 30, 2016. While the publisher’s sales were slightly down over the same period in 2015, profits increased.

Sales were cited as $963 million, which is down from 2015’s $1.2 billion. Operating profit, however, rose from $118 million to $161 million, which represents a 36 percent increase. According to Konami, mobile games such as Jinkkyou Pwafuru Puroyakyu, Professional Baseball Spirits A (Ace) and Winning Eleven (PES) Club Manager enjoyed “steady sales.”

PES 2017, which launched in September, was said to have had a “strong performance” thus far. Konami also hosted a Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card championship event in August, which is presented as successful.

Konami’s Health & Fitness business brought in profit and, as noted by the company, six athletes from Konami Sports Club’s gymnastics and swimming teams won medals in the Rio Olympic Games. Much of Konami’s remaining profit increase can be attributed to its gambling and amusement divisions.

Looking ahead, Konami said it will “continue to diversify” as new opportunities arise on smartphones and tablet PCs. “We intend to develop ways of playing games that match the characteristics of each device,” it said. VR was also mentioned as an avenue of future growth.

“As we continue to move with the times and take on new challenges, we aim to create and provide ‘Valuable Time’ to customers, including through the production of new games that utilize virtual reality (VR) and the serious development of e-Sports.”

At Gamescom 2016, Konami announced Metal Gear Survive, a multiplayer stealth game coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2017. The spinoff is set in the same universe as Metal Gear Solid V and takes place after the events of Ground Zeroes.

In the aftermath of the attack on Mother Base, Militaires Sans Frontières soldiers are sucked into wormholes along with chunks of the base itself. They are transported into alternate timelines and are forced to fight for survival alongside their comrades. Players will take control of one of these soldiers and team up with others to take on what look like zombies. You can watch the first trailer for Metal Gear Survive here.

Konami has said Metal Gear Survive will not cost $60. Instead, it will be “somewhere in the vicinity” of what Ground Zeroes cost at launch, which was $30.
