  • New Preview Beta & Delta Ring 1811 Update – 11/7/18

Starting at 2:00 p.m. PDT today, members of the Xbox One Preview Beta and Delta Rings will begin receiving a new 1811 Xbox One system update (181104-1920). Read on for more about the fixes and known issues in the latest 1811 system update.

    New Features:

    Family Settings

    • Children signing up for new accounts will now be asked to add a parent only if required to by local privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR or COPPA). This means that some minors, like teens in the U.S., will no longer have to add a parent and join a Microsoft family during signup. Xbox privacy and online safety defaults will still be applied based on age, and in order to change those, the minor would need to add a parent on Xbox who can then change their settings. Minors not in a family can add a parent anytime in Settings > Account > Family settings > Add a parent. Joining a family would also allow the parent and child to use other family features like content restrictions, screen time, activity reporting, and spending.
    • Children that are subject to local privacy regulations will still be required to add a parent during signup. While this will create a Microsoft family through which the parent can use family features like content restrictions, screen time, activity reporting, and spending, the parent will no longer be required to sign in on Xbox. If a parent wants to change their child’s Xbox privacy and online safety settings, the parent can sign in separately on Xbox and manage their family in Settings > Account > Family settings.
    • Existing child accounts are not affected by this change and will remain with their parents in their current Microsoft family.

     Mouse & Keyboard Support

    • We have enabled mouse support in this release.  Please check out the Quest in the Xbox Insider Hub to experience mouse and keyboard support in Warframe.

Surviving Mars’ First Expansion Coming to Xbox One November 15 with a Free Weekend

Surviving Mars is certainly not your average console game. Sure, it’s set in a sci-fi future where humans must fight to survive in the arid wastelands of space, but you’ll find that surviving our Mars is more about keeping tabs on your colonists’ mental health than flying spaceships. It’s a city-building game where players lead a colonization effort on behalf of a sponsor back on earth. You must manage resources, research scientific anomalies, and build your own life-supporting dome on the red planet. And now with our first-ever expansion, Space Race, launching on November 15, you’ll have to contend with rival colonies too!

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

Space Race puts you up against other sponsors who want to outdo your colony’s efforts, and that comes with more responsibilities and challenges to face. Here’s a look at a few of them in our latest trailer.

Or, you could see the new expansion for yourself! We are hosting a streaming event tomorrow at 17:00 CET / 08:00 PST at the Space Race: Rival Colony stream, and you can join our own Space Race here: https://mixer.com/paradoxinteractive

To celebrate this first expansion, Surviving Mars will have a free weekend for Xbox One players at the launch of Space Race from November 15 to 18, so now is a great time to explore another planet for the first time here.

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

With rival colonies on the map, players can vie for milestones, anomalies and even important colonists with several other AI colonies backed by competing sponsors. Or you can keep it friendly by establishing trade agreements and responding to their distress calls (and hoping they respond to yours). Your relationship with them will be dynamic, and can even get difficult at times, but ultimately Earth is far, far away and you might need to rely on your Martian neighbors. After all, humankind is most resourceful in a competition

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

We’ve also seen a lot of members of our community asking to know more about the lives of individual colonists in the middle of this grand experiment. What’s going on at the colonist level of this massive endeavor? What’s with the Flat Mars Society and how can it even exist? What happens when a dome wants to secede from the colony? With Space Race, players can now play out narrative events throughout the colonization process that help add a much-needed human, personal feel to each game and reveal the realities of life in the dome.

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

Lastly, we’ve also reworked some of the mission sponsor mechanics so that each sponsor has a really different playstyle with their own goals to complete and unique advantages such as special vehicles or buildings. Adding unique buildings and vehicles was critical for our goal. Now every sponsor feels acutely distinctive, and we expect our players will play them differently. This means that even if you successfully establish your colony, you can always go back and take on a whole new challenge with a new mission sponsor (and we’ve added more sponsors, to boot)!

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

If you get the Space Race Plus bundle, you can also listen to pop music while you play from some of the sponsors’ home countries with the Marsvision Song Contest and get a special Colony Design set for some special buildings to add to your dome. These are some fun extra additions that we thought the community might enjoy. The music especially makes a big difference in a game like Surviving Mars where you might get absorbed in a play session for hours.

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

    Surviving Mars - Space Race

All of these changes have come from a vocal and engaged community of players who’ve stuck by our sides since the beginning. They’ve been clear about what would really take this game to the next level and we’d be fools to ignore them. That’s why we’re so excited to be able to launch Space Race next week and have even more content to come!

Warface Gets Battle Royale Mode and a New Raid

Today we would like to take a closer look at the first major update for Warface that is now live on the Xbox One. The update will feature a bunch of new content that includes new maps, a new raid, and most importantly – the long-awaited battle royale mode that we hope will provide Xbox players with an unmatched experience of fast-paced FPS gaming. Let’s take a closer look.

    Warface Screenshot

    Warface Screenshot

First, let’s look at the most important part of the update – the all-new battle royale PvP mode. Today the battle royale mode can be found in almost every shooter. It has become a sort of a common element by which numerous extremely different (gameplay-wise) projects can be compared and measured against each other.

    Warface Screenshot

    Warface Screenshot

Warface in this instance has a number of distinctive features that shape its unique gameplay, and the first of them is its adrenaline-fueled dynamics. While most of the BR matches require about 30 to 40 minutes, Warface battles will not last more than 5 minutes. Most likely, you will meet your first opponent in the first minute, meaning you do not have time to camp or peacefully loot for 10 minutes or so. Coupled with hundreds of distinctive weapons and pieces of original equipment, Warface drives you to experience arguably the most aggressive and fast-paced battle royale matches ever.

    Warface Screenshot

    Warface Screenshot

Surely enough we could not forget about the PvE players – and we’re happy to announce the new Black Shark PvE raid. Players will have an opportunity to try out one of the most immersive raids in Warface, and meet some of the game’s most interesting enemies. The story takes us to a newly discovered Blackwood HQ, seemingly reminiscent of the skyscraper taken down in the “Tower Raid” operation. This tower is only under construction, so it is the best opportunity for Warface operatives to take it down, planting charges on each of its numerous floors. Meanwhile, operatives will also have to hack the servers and obtain data from internal Blackwood networks.

    Warface Screenshot

    Warface Screenshot

The update will also include a pack of five maps, each featuring its own PvP mode, in addition to the already rich Warface portfolio of PvP maps.

Motel: A fast-paced team deathmatch between Blackwood and Warface operatives will take place in a motel located in a scorching desert.

Palace: One of the most popular Warface maps set in an eastern-styled palace is coming to the Xbox One with the classic Plant The Bomb mode.

High Hill: Xbox One players would get to play the Storm mode on this variously leveled forest map.

Construction: The construction site offers players plenty of tactical opportunities to capture the enemy team’s launch codes

Mojave: The long-awaited battle royale comes to Xbox One on a large detailed map located in the Mojave desert. Be sure to keep an eye out for those easter eggs!

5 Tips to Becoming the Ultimate Racer in Grip: Combat Racing on Xbox One

We’re super stoked to be celebrating the release of Grip on Xbox One, available now in the Microsoft Store and for Xbox Game Pass members later today. For those of you who don’t know the game yet, it’s a hardcore combat racer harking back to the arcade games of the early 2000s – most importantly though, it’s fast… really fast… with cars reaching above and beyond the speed of sound!

Traveling at this sort of speed the race can be won or lost in an instant, you’ve gotta have all of your wits about you, making split-second decisions whilst reacting to the terrain and the other racers around you. To help with this we’ve prepared our top 5 tips to help you reach the top in Grip!

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Happy Landings

We understand the temptation is real to keep your finger firmly on that accelerator but making that perfect landing can really make or break your race – tilt too far back and you might end up facing the wrong direction completely! Release the accelerator and your use the left stick to trigger air thrusters on your vehicle and make a smooth landing.

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Don’t Forget to Boost

No rocket-powered vehicle would be complete without auxiliary thrusters. These give you a real edge in the moments you need a little extra. Hold the Y button to consume the boost bar around your speedo – it doesn’t quite pack the same punch as the Firestorm pickup, but a well-timed boost can put distance between you and your opponents, help you across a perilous jump or help you make a daring overtake.

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Drift Your Way Around Corners

Don’t forget there’s a brake, especially when keeping to the inside of corners – drift it. Tap the handbrake (X) when cornering hard to initiate a drift and tighten your turning circle.  Taking that inside line can also grant access to some tightly placed speed pads, increasing your speed coming out of the corner.

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Hold A to Launch

One of the biggest challenges with Grip is to understand the vertical environment through which you race – taking into account what’s on the ceiling above you as well as the floor below you can really give you the edge in a race. See that boost pad above your head? Hold and release the A button to launch your vehicle up, gain that boost and the advantage over other racers! You can also use the launch function to return your vehicle to the ground avoiding obstacles which are sure to ruin your fun.

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Grip: Combat Racing

    Know Your Arsenal

Grip has a great variety of pickups each with their own race-changing unique characteristics, knowing when and when not to unleash an Assassin missile can totally transform your race. Be wary of firing weapons on tight bends or in tunnels where they might be swept into the curving side wall. There’s a delicate balance between unleashing everything you’ve got and holding onto it for just the perfect moment. In addition to their standard mode, each power-up can also be super-charged. When holding two power-ups, press and hold the button for the power-up you want to super-charge (LB for the left slot, RB for the right,) and it will consume the other slot to create an ultimate attack – sometimes changing the weapon entirely.

We look forward to meeting you on the race track and don’t forget if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber you can play the game at no additional cost today!

  • Fortuna: Journey into the Heart of Warframe’s Next Open World

Fortuna: Journey into the Heart of Warframe’s Next Open World

Whether you’re new to Warframe or a grizzled veteran, the upcoming expansion, Fortuna, has probably crossed your Twitter feed once or twice — something-something Venus, blah-blah hoverboards…giant mechanical spiders. Yes, that’s us! We introduced the new open-world landscape of Fortuna at our annual Warframe convention, TennoCon, this summer to a roar of excitement and positive crowd response, and since then our team has been working triple time to make it ready for Tenno around the world.

In real life, Venus is a totally uninhabitable, stormy, toxic, cloud-covered planet, on which no human spacecraft has successfully landed. In Warframe, Venus is the planet where you’ll find Fortuna, a wild science fiction dreamscape populated with fields of alien flowers, three-story mushrooms, cute, harmless creatures, and run by the greed-driven Corpus faction.

Warframe - Fortuna ScreenshotWarframe - Fortuna Screenshot

Fortuna is the name of the expansion, but it also refers to an underground hub city. That’s Fortuna, the place! (If you’ve played our first open-world, Plains of Eidolon, Fortuna is the equivalent to Cetus.) Located in a dark, noir-ish labor camp, Fortuna is where humans who have replaced body parts with robotic ones and work tirelessly in repressive debt. These people are the Solaris United Faction, and they need your help Tenno! By taking on their missions, they’ll provide guidance, unlock new weapons and tools, and they will lead you down the lore path of a society in conflict. By going up against the Corpus, you’ll earn standing (i.e. reputation) with them, which in turn opens up new weapon upgrades, missions, and unlocks deeper secrets to their dark story.

The planet’s surface, The Orb Vallis, is much different than Fortuna the city. Clouds of orange and blue churn from terraforming towers and roil across the sky creating a foreign, fantastical feel. Prominent jagged cliffs and mountainsides cascade into valleys below filled with towering mushrooms, alien flora, and a mixture of Corpus bases and ancient Orokin manufacturing plants. Massive robot spiders, crawling across and patrolling key structures, loom in the distance.

Warframe - Fortuna ScreenshotWarframe - Fortuna Screenshot

Even though I’ve seen it a dozen times or so, my first impression of The Orb Vallis is still the strongest and most powerful. Once you’ve explored the underground city and made friends with Solaris figures The Biz and Eudico, you’ll take an elevator to the surface. In amongst churning steel doors creaking to part with steam pouring from their innards, the giant, fantastical open world appears in front of you. Sounds of unearthly creatures’ screech and whine, the billowing atmosphere, foreign landscape, and alien sky seem to fill your Tenno lungs with strange air and seep into your eyes with wonder. They let you know instantly that you are so, so very far away from home — or anything ever introduced in Warframe before.

There, on the surface, your options too, are vast, Tenno. For starters, you can track, tranq and save sweet, harmless, endangered creatures from extinction. A noble cause! Kind of similar to the fishing activity on Plains of Eidolon, the hunting/tracking feature requires acquiring an ‘echo lure’ tool to mimic the unique sounds of these dwindling species, tracking their footprints (and their poop!), and luring them into range to tranquilize and transport them to a safe place.

Warframe - Fortuna ScreenshotWarframe - Fortuna Screenshot

The Ventkids in Fortuna are big fans of your newest transportation option, the Bondi K-Drive, a powerful, fast and nimble hoverboard that enables you to explore the giant landscape (which is about 3-4 times bigger than the already big Plains of Eidolon) and learn the meaning of getting rad on Venus! Learn tricks, enter into K-Drive races, and venture deep in the far reaches of the Orb Vallis in search of resources, cool hidden stuff, and even more secrets!

All the while, you’ll build up your Warframe and weapons to confront the treacherous “prophet of profit” Nef Anyo — who runs the place.
