  • Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Soundtrack Has Original Composer Stewart Copeland's Blessing

Plus, a snippet of new footage.

For many fans of the little purple dragon, a big part of what makes his PSone outings so special is the whimsical soundtrack, composed by Stewart Copeland. The musician, most famous for providing drums for The Police, has been helping out Toys for Bob during the development of Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, consulting on all the music for the PS4 remakes.

In a new post on the PlayStation Blog, music remixer Stephan Vankov discusses the studio’s approach to the OST. “To create the “reignited” music, we reconstructed all 120+ themes from the original trilogy, transcribing each piece note-by-note. This gave us the flexibility to update some of the instrumentation and also gave us access to individual instrument parts for use in our dynamic music system, which allowed us to add a whole new dimension to the music experience.”

  • Hands On: Fallout 76 PS4 Beta Has Us Worried for the Full Game

    Take me home.

We’ve been playing the Fallout 76 beta on PlayStation 4, and to be frank, it’s not looking particularly good. Being a multiplayer adaptation of Bethesda’s beloved franchise, the game’s no stranger to scrutiny even at this early stage, but after spending around eight or so hours with the beta, that scrutiny is, unfortunately, starting to seem warranted.

  • Battlefield V Trailer Showcases All Multiplayer Maps Available at Launch

    Ready the troops.

We’re steadily marching towards the release of Battlefield V on 20th November, and even though its post launch schedule is far more convoluted than it should be, it’s looking like another strong multiplayer-centric shooter from DICE. A new trailer has been published today, talking through all of the multiplayer maps that will be available to play on day one.

The maps are based on “the unexplored settings of World War 2,” spanning from a large scale tank battle in Hamada (North Africa) to an infantry and plane fight for the mountaintop in Fjell 652 (Norway). As usual for the series, the maps look expansive, destructible, and varied, and should provide some thrilling moments.

  • Hands On: Tetris Effect Is a Borderline Spiritual Experience with PSVR

    Yours forever.

There were no shortage of people who scoffed at Tetris Effect when it was announced at E3 2018 earlier in the year, but anyone who’s played Rez Infinite on PlayStation VR will have understood. Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the mastermind behind the likes of Lumines and Child of Eden, excels at evoking emotional responses through audio-visual experiences – and he’s just transformed a classic Russian puzzler into a borderline spiritual experience.

Playable on standard television screen in 4K resolution on a PlayStation 4 Pro, there’s no doubt that this game excels with its optional PSVR mode. The main campaign, Journey, is Tetris – but at the expense of sounding like a beard stroking, mochachino sipping hipster, it’s a spiritual rollercoaster. You start out underwater, with each tetromino tilt playing blips and blops in key with the rumbling synth backdrop.

  • Sony Offering Killer PS4 and Spider-Man Bundle for Black Friday

    Good luck out there.

Sony’s come up with some cracking deals over the years for the PS4, and Black Friday 2018 looks to be no different. North American retailer Target has advertised some of its Black Friday offers, and among dozens of other items going cheap is a standard 1TB PS4 bundled with the smash hit Marvel’s Spider-Man.

The pack will be available for just $199.99, a saving of $100. This is an ideal bundle for anyone interested in getting one of Sony’s consoles, and with the appeal of Spidey, we imagine it’ll be an extremely popular Christmas present. There are also some good deals on other games, too, like God of War and Detroit: Become Human for $25. Take a look for yourself through here.

  • Catherine: Full Body Bares All in New PS4, PS Vita Trailer

Sony seemingly not censoring this one.

Catherine: Full Body is out on 14th February in Japan, and it’s no simple remaster. Adding an entirely new scenario and character to the campaign, this new trailer runs through all the additions you can expect from the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita re-release. Honestly, it’s an impressive offering – there are even some in-game glasses you can get with the Limited Edition which allow you to, y’know, see through the clothes of the female characters. Sounds like Sony isn’t censoring that.

There’s also a brief glimpse of Persona 5 hero Joker, who will be playable as downloadable content if you pre-order. It sounds like the PS4 and PS Vita versions will boast cross-save and cross-play, while there are new multiplayer and difficulty options as well. It’s not a remake but… The amount of stuff that’s being added virtually makes this a new game. It will release in West, but there’s no date just yet.

  • Undertale Follow-Up Deltarune Gets Free Playable Chapter on PC

Much more than just a survey.

If you’ve been paying attention to Twitter recently, you may well have heard about Toby Fox teasing something related to his cult hit RPG, Undertale. The official account for the charming title asked people to answer some questions by downloading a small survey programme to your PC or Mac. However, after some hands on time with the software, it’s clear that it offers much more than just a few questions.

It’s actually a fully playable game, allowing you to go through chapter 1 of Deltarune, which seems to be the title of the follow-up to Undertale. We won’t spoil it here, but if you enjoyed the cutesy RPG at all, it’s well worth checking out the “survey”. It’ll provide you a good couple of hours’ time with the game, allowing you to get to grips with a new cast of characters, an updated battle system, and an intriguing story.
