  • Devolver Digital Won't Release Mother Russia Bleeds On Switch In Australia, Due To “Government Folk” Who Do Not Approve

    Sorry New Zealand.

Earlier this week, Devolver Digital announced it was bringing the “super-violent” multiplayer brawler Mother Russia Bleeds to the Switch eShop on 15th November. If you watched the gameplay trailer, you will have no doubt noticed the graphic nature of the title including references to drug use.

In an unexpected update, Devolver Digital has issued a tweet revealing the game won’t be released in Australia or New Zeland on Nintendo Switch. It’s all to do with the local Classification Board and its disapproval of certain themes in video games. It’s worth noting, it’s not actually clear if the game has been banned, or if the publisher is avoiding the inevitable.

  • Digital Dreams Apologises For “Missing” Teams In Mutant Football League, Will Add To Game As Free DLC

    Whoops.

If you’ve been playing Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition on the Nintendo Switch since its release last week, you may or may not have noticed the brutal and bloody American football style game is missing a couple of teams.

This complete edition is meant to include all of the DLC as well as exclusive teams and arenas. Yet somehow, Digital Dreams Entertainment forgot to add in the Purple Mutant Eaters & Hexxon Oilers. The publisher and developer behind the game has now released an apology via Facebook and said this issue will be resolved for North Americans by 9th November, when the two teams are added to the game as free DLC. Unfortunately, Europe is going to have to wait just a little bit longer:

  • Video: Digital Foundry Takes A Look At Diablo III: Eternal Collection On Nintendo Switch

“This is a really nice port”.

The folks at Digital Foundry have recently taken a trip to hell and back to find out how Diablo III: Eternal Collection runs on the Nintendo Switch and also how it compares to existing versions of the game. Iron Galaxy’s Switch conversion sits somewhere in between the last generation and current generation versions of the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Described as the “last gen plus” release, the team behind this edition has “done a pretty great job” in terms of the visuals, performance and controls. On the subject of resolution, Blizzard said during a preview build the game sits at around 960p, but apparently docked it’s closer to 900p and in practice is around 1600 x 900 – which could be linked to dynamic resolution. It can also drop to 1344 x 756, making it 70 percent of a full 1080p. Still, it’s not low enough to reach 720p – which happened to be the maximum resolution for the last generation console versions of the game. In portable mode, the game runs at 720p, which is the native screen resolution and can drop down to 960 x 540.

  • Niantic's Rework Of Ingress Could Make Pokémon GO A Better Game

Creating one platform for every title.

US software developer Niantic might be best known for Pokémon GO nowadays, but this wasn’t always the case. Before the company shot to fame with its recent mobile sensation, it was focused on its own augmented reality game Ingress. With GO now nearly two-and-a-half years into its lifespan, Niantic has been able to return some of its focus to its own IP. Yesterday, it launched Ingress Prime – a rework of the original game built on lessons from Pokémon GO.

The team at Niantic is now hoping some of the features in the newer version of Ingress can be implemented into GO eventually. According to Eurogamer, one feature that would be appreciated is the new prestige system. Once players hit the level cap in Ingress Prime, they can now roll back to level one and gain unspecified “unique benefits” – with their prestige status also reflected to other players.

  • Masahiro Sakurai Reveals Nintendo Has Already Selected DLC Fighters For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

No need to forward him your requests.

Last week during the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct before the release of the game in December, Director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed a total of five DLC fighters would eventually be made available and that the team would be working “really hard” on the development of this content. This announcement unsurprisingly led to immediate speculation about the fighters that could potentially be added to the roster – with wild character requests once again being fired in Nintendo’s direction.

In the latest news, the game’s director has now issued a number of tweets in English to perhaps prevent the onslaught of fighter requests from the game’s fans. Sakurai revealed the DLC line-up for Ultimate is already locked-in. Unlike the ballot used to help select the DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS, this time Nintendo’s picked the additional fighters. Here are the official tweets from Sakurai-san:

  • Illumination Founder Says Mario Animated Movie Is Embracing Miyamoto's “Creative Voice”

    Promising signs.

In the past year, there’s been a rapid increase in the amount of video game themed television shows, movies and animations being developed. Major live-action movie blockbusters are being created for Sonic the Hedgehog and Pikachu, and the animated Castlevania Netflix series is already on season two.

In a recent interview with Variety, Illumination Founder Chris Meledandri provided some insight into the upcoming animated Mario movie. Having previously produced Despicable Me and The Life of Pets, Meledandri relishes the challenge of adapting an IP that previously suffered from a rough transition. This is a reference to the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie that was critically panned.

  • Nintendo Is Closing The Official Wii U Facebook Page This Friday

    Goodbye, old friend.

As of next March, the Switch will have been on the market for two years. As you might have guessed, the page has quickly turned into a memorial site of sorts – with Nintendo fans and Wii U owners alike thanking the system for the good times and taking a moment to reflect on this particular generation.
