    Time to Choose Doc Trailer

Happy Earth Day! To celebrate the occasion, I wanted to feature a trailer for a documentary about climate change and what we can do to save this big, beautiful planet we all live on. Time to Choose is the latest documentary from Oscar-winning filmmaker Charles Ferguson (of Inside Job, which won Best Doc in 2010; No End in Sight) and it focuses on the many people around the world actually coming up with and implementing creative solutions to the climate problem. It’s a fantastic doc that I highly recommend. “We hope that when audiences see this film, they will see the tragedy unfolding, the urgency of stopping it, and all the remarkable and innovative ways we are using to build a sustainable, prosperous future for Earth.” ›››

  • New Trailer for Indie Drama 'The Silent Storm' Starring Damian Lewis

New Trailer for Indie Drama 'The Silent Storm' Starring Damian Lewis

    The Silent Storm Trailer

“We each have our duties in this life…” A trailer has debuted online for an indie drama called The Silent Storm, set on a remote Scottish island telling the story of a marriage falling apart helped by the arrival of a troubled young boy. Damian Lewis stars as a local minister and Andrea Riseborough plays his wife. This actually first premiered at the London Film Festival back in 2014 and hasn’t played at any other fests since then, with the distributor holding onto it for a while. Is it worth the wait? I’m not sure. The full cast includes Ross Anderson, Kate Dickie, Eric Robertson, and John Sessions. This actually looks solid, with some great cinematography and a strong story of love and chaos. Might be worth catching? Take a look. ›››

    Independence Day: Resurgence

“We convinced an entire generation that this is a battle we could win… And that’s worth fighting for!” To celebrate Earth Day, Fox has debuted the second trailer for Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day: Resurgence. Funny enough, this has lots of footage of Earth being destroyed by malevolent aliens back after 20 years extremely pissed that we defeated their first batch of ships. Starring Jeff Goldblum, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Liam Hemsworth, William Fichtner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Vivica A. Fox and Sela Ward. There’s also a fun PSA from the Earth Space Defense with Goldblum talking about saving Earth. This really looks awesome, I can’t wait to see it. Tons of destruction and humans fighting back. ›››

Watch: Trailer for Russian Film 'The Duelist' Being Released in IMAX

    The Duelist Trailer

“You’ve died so many times. You will never die again.” Well, this looks crazy cool. Sony Pictures Russia has debuted a trailer for a big-budget Russian adventure movie called The Duelist, directed by indie filmmaker Alexey Mizgirev. A few moviegoers might’ve seen the WWII action movie Stalingrad a few years back, as it was released in IMAX by Sony. This is Sony’s latest Russian feature that they’re be releasing to US audiences in IMAX even though no date has been set yet. The Duelist is about a vengeful duelist who never loses. The cast includes Pyotr Fyodorov (Stalingrad), Vladimir Mashkov (Ghost Protocol), Yuri Kolokolnikov (Game of Thrones), and Martin Wuttke (Inglorious Basterds). This seems dark and epic and very violent. ›››

Clint Eastwood's 'Sully' was Filmed Almost Entirely on IMAX Cameras

    Clint Eastwood

Step aide Christopher Nolan, it’s Clint Eastwood who is stepping up and making a movie shot entirely with IMAX cameras. Following the success of American Sniper, Eastwood is now working on his next film Sully, about airplane pilot Captain Sully as played by Tom Hanks, and apparently he’s shooting most of the film using IMAX cameras. Variety reports that IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond has confirmed that Eastwood loves the cameras and in fact it may be the first film that will be released fully IMAX after being made entirely with IMAX “technology”. Eastwood’s longtime cinematographer Tom Stern shot the film on ARRI ALEXA 65 & XT. Not many other details are known yet, but the film has already finished shooting. Read on. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Woody Allen's 'Café Society' with Jesse Eisenberg

Official Trailer for Woody Allen's 'Café Society' with Jesse Eisenberg

    Cafe Society Trailer

“Hey pal – you bored already?” “I’m kinda half bored, half fascinated.” French distributor Mars Films has released the first trailer for Woody Allen’s new film Café Society, which is opening the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in just a few weeks. Allen goes back to telling a romantic period piece focusing on a young man who lands in Hollywood in the 1930s, during the “vibrant café society that defined the spirit of the age”. This looks like another fun inside look at the early days of Hollywood, with the kind of eccentric cast we’ve come to expect from Allen. Jesse Eisenberg stars with Kristen Stewart as his love interest, plus Jeannie Berlin, Steve Carell, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Corey Stoll, Ken Stott & Paul Schneider. Enjoy. ›››

Michael Keaton Creates McDonald's in First Trailer for 'The Founder'

    The Founder Trailer

“There should be McDonald’s everywhere! Franchise the damn thing!” This looks like it might be pretty damn good. The Weinstein Company has debuted the first trailer for The Founder, from director John Lee Hancock, starring Michael Keaton as McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc. The story is actually about how Kroc sort of “stole” the business right out from under the McDonald brothers, played by Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch, who originally came up with the idea for a fast food burger joint in the 1950s. The cast includes Laura Dern, Linda Cardellini, Patrick Wilson and B.J. Novak. Keaton’s performance doesn’t seem better than his last few roles, but the film looks like it’s definitely worth seeing when it opens. ›››

Watch: Matt Damon is Back Again in First Trailer for 'Jason Bourne'

    Jason Bourne Trailer

“He’s seen things. He knows things. What if he’s not coming for us, what if it’s something else?” Universal has debuted the first kick ass trailer for Paul Greengrass’ Jason Bourne, bringing back Matt Damon, in addition to reuniting him with Greengrass – the original duo that made the first Bourne trilogy of movies. This trailer is seriously action-packed, showing some solid glimpses of the action we’re going to see in this. Tommy Lee Jones also stars, along with Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel, Riz Ahmed and Ato Essandoh. They actually drove a truck into a casino to film this, it’s not CG, and all of the action looks awesome. I’m actually quite excited to see this. Good to have Damon back as Bourne. Fire it up below! ›››

Don't Watch: Adam Sandler in First Trailer for Netflix's 'The Do-Over'

    The Do-Over Trailer

“I wish I could start from scratch, just get it right this time…” Yep, this is a “don’t watch” – did anyone even see The Ridiculous 6? I don’t anyone who did. This is the next Netflix collaboration with Adam Sandler and it looks just as forgettable. Netflix has debuted this trailer for their new comedy The Do-Over, starring Adam Sandler and his long-time friend David Spade. The cast includes Paula Patton, Kathryn Hahn, Sean Astin, Luis Guzmán and Nick Swardson. The concept is intriguing, but that’s about it – two guys try to reinvent themselves and end up getting into more trouble than they were expecting. This looks awful. ›››

Watch: Bryan Cranston in First Full Trailer for Thriller 'The Infiltrator'

    The Infiltrator Trailer

“One wrong word, one slip and…” Broad Green Pictures has debuted the trailer for based-on-a-true-story thriller The Infiltrator, starring Bryan Cranston as DEA agent Bob Mazur, who went undercover in the 80s to infiltrate Pablo Escobar’s drug trafficking ring. This also stars John Leguizamo, Diane Kruger, Benjamin Bratt and Amy Ryan. Mazur posed as a money-laundering businessman and he successfully worked his way into Escobar’s drug empire for five years. This trailer explores much of the story and it looks like a fascinating inside look at how tricky it can be to safely infiltrate a drug empire. As always, Cranston is awesome to watch and this seems like it might be engaging – though the trailer ends quite abruptly. Enjoy. ›››
