Watch: Tim Matheson as Reagan in Nat Geo's 'Killing Reagan' Trailer

    Killing Reagan Trailer

“Last time I checked, I am in control here.” We don’t usually cover TV trailers, but this one seems like it’s worth making an exception for. Killing Reagan is a feature film for the National Geographic Channel made by filmmaker Rod Lurie. It’s an adaptation of the book of the same name retelling the events of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan in March of 1981. Actor Tim Matheson plays Reagan, Cynthia Nixon plays his wife Nancy, and the cast includes Joe Chrest, Joel Murray, Gary Weeks, and Kyle S. More as John Hinckley Jr, who tried to shoot Reagan while at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. in an attempt to impress actress Jodie Foster. Even though this is technically a TV movie, it looks like it has some strong performances in it, and it might be worth catching when it airs. Take a look. ›››

  • Watch: Full Trailer for Melodramatic 'The Love Witch' Horror Comedy

    The Love Witch Trailer

“She loved men… to death.” Oscilloscope has released an official trailer (that’s NSFW) for a horror comedy called The Love Witch, written & directed by Anna Biller. The film is a tribute to 1960s pulp novels and Technicolor melodramas, which is why it looks the way it does, and is about a contemporary witch who uses spells and magic to get men to fall in love with her. But after she ends up sleeping with them, they all end up dead, which is not what she was hoping for but can’t really control. Samantha Robinson stars as Elaine, with a cast including Elle Evans, Jeffrey Vincent Parise, Dani Lennon, Lily Holleman, and Gian Keys. As funky as this seems, it actually has great reviews calling it “spellbinding & hilarious”. Take a look. ›››

  • Review: 'Jason Bourne' Returns Without Creativity, Excitement or Cool

    Jason Bourne Review

At least Matt Damon is back, right? That may be a common sentiment from anyone who followed along with the Bourne franchise. The first trilogy of films – The Bourne Identity, Supremacy, and Ultimatum – make up an impressively intense series of espionage thrillers with Damon’s eponymous character riding high in the lead seat. With The Bourne Legacy, Damon chose not to return, Jeremy Renner took his place, and the stale, lackluster adventure that time around made it seem like the franchise’s shining moments were long behind it. It’s now 14 years since the initial entry, and though Jason Bourne sees Damon returning for his fourth outing as the rogue super-spy the bloom hasn’t quite grown back on the rose leaving us with a dulled, run-of-the-mill version of a series that once actually brushed against the limits of cool cinema. ›››

  • New US Trailer for Park Chan-wook's Sensual Film 'The Handmaiden'

New US Trailer for Park Chan-wook's Sensual Film 'The Handmaiden'

    The Handmaiden Trailer

Magnolia Pictures & Amazon Studios have unveiled the official US trailer for Park Chan-wook’s latest film, The Handmaiden, a sensual crime thriller in Korea. The story is actually based on Sarah Waters’ novel, titled Fingersmith, which is set in Victorian Era Britain, however Park Chan-wook decided to tell his version in Korea instead. Kim Min-hee stars as Lady Hideko, Ha Jung-woo as the conman who calls himself the Count, and Kim Tae-ri stars as the maid Sookee. It’s a twisted tale of sex and crime, about a Korean maid hired to work for a Japanese heiress, but seduces her and ends up causing all kinds of trouble. There’s so much more going on in this, and as expected from Park Chan-wook, it gets wicked in the second half. Enjoy. ›››

  • Watch: New 2016 Trailer for Ensemble Heist Comedy 'Masterminds'

    Masterminds Trailer

“How hard can it be? You load up a truck, and you drive away.” Relativity has debuted a new 2016 trailer for the comedy Masterminds, from the director of Napoleon Dynamite – Jared Hess. Most will remember hearing about this before, as it was originally scheduled to be released last year, and we even ran two trailers for it (which were removed) before Relativity pulled it from the schedule. It’s now set to open in theaters this fall – though I’m not sure if any new marketing will help. Zach Galifianakis & Kristen Wiig star as a couple who plan a heist that goes right, and they end up with $17 million with their friends Owen Wilson, Ken Marino and Devin Ratray. But once they get the money, things start to fall apart. Jason Sudeikis, Leslie Jones & Kate McKinnon also star. This is supposed to be funny in a stupid way, but it looks dull. ›››

  • Kids with Wings in Trailer for Young Adult Sci-Fi Film 'Maximum Ride'

Kids with Wings in Trailer for Young Adult Sci-Fi Film 'Maximum Ride'

    Maximum Ride Trailer

“So what do we do?” “We fight!” Paramount has released a trailer for the young adult sci-fi adaptation titled Maximum Ride, directed by Jay Martin, about six orphan kids who are genetically cross-bred with avian DNA. This gives them the ability to fly, and they band together to figure out the “diabolical, scientific secrets of how they came to exist”. Yep, it’s as bad as it sounds. Starring Allie Marie Evans, Patrick Johnson, Lyliana Wray, Luke Gregory Crosby, Gavin Lewis, Tetona Jackson, Zayne Emory, Peter O’Brien & Carrie Wampler. As expected, this looks very cheesy and designed specifically for the “young adult” audience, so tread carefully. The effects don’t even look good and the villain seems pretty awful, too. ›››

  • New Trailer for Ron Howard's Doc 'The Beatles: Eight Days A Week'

The Beatles: Eight Days A Week

“There’s no switching off… You’re on 24 hours a day.” Studiocanal in the UK has debuted another new trailer for the Ron Howard documentary The Beatles: Eight Days A Week, including the subtitle The Touring Years. The documentary features stunning never-before-seen footage of the legendary band The Beatles touring all over the world during their most wild & famous years. We featured a trailer for this a few months ago, and the glimpse of footage in that was impressive to see, with even more in this latest trailer below. The film will follow the band from their early days of The Cavern Club in Liverpool to their last concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 1966. As I said before, even though we all thought we’ve seen and heard enough of The Beatles, there’s always more – and this looks like it’s going to be so much fun. ›››

  • Official US Trailer for Christophe Gans' 'Beauty and the Beast' Film

Official US Trailer for Christophe Gans' 'Beauty and the Beast' Film

    Beauty and the Beast

“A beast, fulfill a woman like me?” Shout has premiered the official US trailer for the upcoming release of Christophe Gans’ version of Beauty and the Beast, which was released in most of Europe back in 2014, but is just now arriving in the US. Disney is preparing its own live-action take on the classic story next year (see the first teaser trailer here), but this one is much more fantastical and gothic in its approach. French actress Léa Seydoux stars as Belle, and Vincent Cassel plays the Beast, in this very French take on the classic story. The cast includes André Dussollier, Eduardo Noriega, Myriam Charleins and Audrey Lamy. As much as I’m happy to see a new film by Christophe Gans, this looks filled with way too much CGI and excessively colorful imagery that makes me disinterested. Maybe it’s better to wait for Disney’s version. ›››

“What were they trying to keep out?” Universal has debuted the first official trailer for Zhang Yimou’s new movie The Great Wall, produced by Legendary Pictures in China as one of the most expensive movies ever made in China. It’s about the various mysteries of the construction of the Great Wall of China, and features an international cast lead by Matt Damon. Also featuring Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Tian Jing, Eddie Peng, Numan Acar, Han Lu, Kenny Lin and Zhang Hanyu. As also expected with Zhang Yimou, this is visually astounding with some epic shots of the construction of the wall and immensely detailed costumes and big battles and everything else you could imagine… including some giant creatures. ›››
