  • PS4's Gran Turismo Sport Lacks These Two Major Features of Past Games

PS4's Gran Turismo Sport Lacks These Two Major Features of Past Games

As suspected, upcoming PlayStation 4 racing game Gran Turismo Sport will not offer dynamic time or weather. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi explained to GT Planet that these options, which were key features in Polyphony’s PlayStation 3 Gran Turismo games, were dropped in an effort to improve the game’s overall presentation.

Weather conditions and time of day will instead be pre-match options.

“We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the frame rate and the quality of the image during the race,” he said. “So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on.”

During the Gran Turismo Sport announcement event this month, Yamauchi suggested that the game would not feature dynamic weather. This appears to be the first time he’s confirming that the game won’t have dynamic weather or time.

Players may be happy to learn, however, that Gran Turismo Sport will have a damage system, even though it was not present in a recent demonstration of the game. Yamauchi has also identified 1080p and 60 FPS as Polyphony’s targets for the game

Gran Turismo Sport marks the Gran Turismo series’ debut on PS4. Originally announced late last year, we finally learned some hard details earlier this month. It’ll include more than 130 cars and support for online and offline play, though its scope is more limited than the standard numbered releases.

The planned beta is no longer happening, as Polyphony would prefer to spend its time focusing on Sport’s launch this November. Sony also recently revealed details of a collector’s edition and what kind of bonuses you’ll receive for preordering.

  • Resident Evil 5 PS4, Xbox One Release Date Confirmed

Resident Evil 5 PS4, Xbox One Release Date Confirmed

Capcom has announced that an updated version of Resident Evil 5 will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from June 28.

The re-release will feature an improved frame rate and 1080p resolution. It will also include all previously released DLC, such as the Lost in Nightmare and Desperate Escape story episodes.

Additionally, The Mercenaries United mode will also be included, and all characters will be unlocked from the outset. This is a more arcade shooter experience that tasks players with chaining zombie kills and completing objectives with a time limit.

When Resident Evil 5 was previously released for PC, a more difficult version of Mercenaries called No Mercy was made available. This will be part of the new console re-release.

Reports have suggested Resident Evil 7 is in development and will be announced E3 2016. The sequel will reportedly go back to its horror roots and Capcom has hired designer Jordan Amaro to work on it. Amaro previously worked on P.T. (Silent Hills) and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

  • Injustice: Gods Among Us 2 in Development – Report

Injustice: Gods Among Us 2 in Development – Report

NetherRealm Studios is working on a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, its fighting game set in the DC comic book universe.

Citing sources familiar with the project, French gaming website Gameblog.fr reports the sequel is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The unnamed sources have said the sequel will be announced soon and is aiming for release in March 2017.

As of yet, neither developer NetherRealm nor publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have teased plans for Injustice: Gods Among Us 2. GameSpot has contacted Warner Bros. for a statement.

The first Injustice: Gods Among Us was released in April 2013, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. An Ultimate Edition featuring improved visuals and all post-release downloadable content was later launched for PS4 and Xbox One.

Injustice takes place in an alternate universe where Joker unleashes a nuclear bomb on Metropolis and tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and his son. In response, Superman establishes himself as High Councillor of a World Government and begins a dictatorship. Batman leads a group of rebel forces and the heroes and villains of the DC Universe are forced to take sides.

The video game spawned a successful, critically acclaimed comic book series, which is scheduled to end this year. An Injustice mobile game was also released for iOS and Android.

The last game NetherRealm released was Mortal Kombat X. As with Injustice, an updated version of this called Mortal Kombat XL was released for PS4 and PC.

  • Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Will Play "World's First Superhero" Doc Savage

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Will Play "World's First Superhero" Doc Savage

Dwayne Johnson is a very busy man, with Baywatch, Fast & Furious 8 (and a potential spin-off), San Andreas 2, a Jumanji remake, and an adaptation of classic arcade game Rampage all lined up for the next few years. Johnson has now added another movie to his schedule, with the announcement that he is to star in Doc Savage.

Johnson took to Facebook to confirm that he would play the classic hero in a film to be directed by Shane Black, who helmed Iron Man 3 and the newly-released The Nice Guys. Johnson wrote:

It’s OFFICIAL: For all comic book fans you already know the world’s first superhero (pre-dating Superman) is the “Man of Bronze” himself Clark “Doc” Savage.

Want to thank my bud director/writer Shane Black and his writing team Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry for flying in from LA and sitting with me and our Seven Bucks Productions’s producer Hiram Garcia on this Memorial Day weekend to chop up creative and break story on this very cool project.

Doc was physically and mentally trained from birth by his father and a team of scientists to become the perfect human specimen with a genius level intellect. His heightened senses are beyond comprehension. He can even identify a women’s perfume from half a mile away. He is literally the master of everything. But here’s the #1 reason I’m excited to become Doc Savage… HE’S A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO!

The heroic adventurer first appeared in Doc Savage Magazine in 1933, and has featured in a wide variety of pulp magazines and comic books over the decades. He gained more prominence when many of those original magazine stories were reprinted in the 1960s as novels, and in 1975 the flop movie Doc Savage: The Arch Enemy of Evil was released.

Black has been looking to make a Doc Savage film for several years, and Thor star Chris Hemsworth was at one stage being considered for the role. In March this year, Black stated that Johnson was now his first choice, telling Thrillist: “We’re hoping to make it sometime next year. I would very much like to do Doc with a fellow named Dwayne Johnson if we can make that work. I made a decision that Dwayne is the guy.”

  • Watch How X-Men: Apocalypse's Amazing Quicksilver Sequence Was Filmed [SPOILERS]

One of the most impressive moments in X-Men: Apocalypse is the amazing sequence in which Quicksilver helps get his colleagues to safety as the X-Mansion collapses around them. A new video reveals exactly how this key scene was achieved–check it out below:

X-Men: Apocalypse is now in cinemas worldwide, having hit the US this weekend and many international markets a week earlier. The film has so far earned $65 million domestically, and according to Variety looks set to make around $76 million by the end of the Memorial Day weekend.

Although this will put it at number one in the box office chart, it is some way below the opening take of its predecessor, X-Men: Days of Future Past, which made $110.5 million on the same weekend in 2014.

Worldwide, the movie has earned $250.8 million so far. Days of Future Past finished its theatrical run with an impressive take of $747.8 million, making it second only to this year’s wildly popular Deadpool in terms of Fox’s X-Men universe.

  • Fallout 4's Latest DLC Runs Better on Xbox One Than PS4 – Report

Fallout 4's Latest DLC Runs Better on Xbox One Than PS4 – Report

After reports emerged about Fallout 4 frame rate issues for the new Far Harbor expansion, Digital Foundry has published a technical analysis of the add-on that further expands on the issues.

According to the site, after the 1.6 patch, the game’s new area runs at 20fps, but sometimes it can be worse than that. If you’re playing on console, the Xbox One edition is having a smoother experience right now, apparently.

“As things stand, PS4‘s current performance profile sees the Far Harbor region present one of the most sluggish regions in the game, while Xbox One consistently runs at a higher refresh,” Digital Foundry said.

As suspected, the culprit appears to be Far Harbor’s new fog effects. Fallout 4 overall aims to run at 30fps on console, but in the new Far Harbor region, the PS4 edition never gets above 20fps and can even drop to 15fps for some sequences, the site said.

“It’s a thick layer of alpha transparency effects causing the issue, making any real-time targeting hugely difficult, something we noticed during an early woodland mission with ally Old Longfellow,” according to the report. “Xbox One suffers fluctuations up and down the scale and is far from ideal, but it’s certainly Sony’s machine that struggles most right now.”

The Xbox One version of Fallout 4’s Far Harbor expansion is not without its problems, too. Digital Foundry said the game locked up while playing missions needed to unlock the expansion, while some stuttering problems from launch have not been addressed.

You can read the full Digital Foundry breakdown here. Note that this is a console comparison only.

Last week, after reports about Fallout 4 Far Habor’s frame rate issues popped up, Bethesda said it was “actively working” to improve performance. “We made optimizations based on the Far Harbor beta feedback, but understand some people are experiencing issues,” Bethesda said at the time. “We are actively working on more improvements.”

Far Harbor, which came out on May 19, is Fallout 4’s third paid expansion, following Automatron (March; $10) and Wasteland Workshop (April; $5). It sells for $25 on its own, and is also included with the $50 Fallout 4 DLC pass.

Bethesda has told fans to “stay tuned” for even more Fallout 4 DLC coming this year. Whatever it is, DLC pass owners will get it at no extra cost.

In other news about Fallout 4, mods made on PC will be playable on Xbox One starting tomorrow, May 31.

For more on Far Harbor, which represents the largest landmass Bethesda has ever made for an expansion, watch GameSpot’s review above or read our written review.

  • Warcraft Director Shares Story of Showing Dad David Bowie the Movie

Warcraft Director Shares Story of Showing Dad David Bowie the Movie

Warcraft director Duncan Jones has spoken up to share a nice story about how she showed his father, David Bowie, an early cut of the film before he passed away. Speaking to The Daily Beast, Jones said his father was happy to see Jones pursuing his passion.

“I showed him an early cut of this and showed him some of the effects shots,” Jones said. “You know, for everyone else he was one person. For me, he was my dad. And he was always interested in things I was working on. So I showed him what I was working on, and he was all excited for me and happy that I was doing the thing that I enjoyed doing in my life.”

Bowie passed away in January 2016, towards the end of production on Warcraft. His passing was not the only major life event that Jones and his family experienced during the making of the film, as his wife was recovering from breast cancer during production. Now, Jones and his wife are expecting their first child in June, the same month Warcraft opens in the US.

“It’s been a hard three years, so it’s been a difficult time,” Jones told Entertainment Weekly in April. “But I’m proud of what we’ve done.”

Warcraft opens on June 10 in the US. It is already out internationally, and has brought in $31.6 million at the box office, according to Deadline.

The film stars Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Robert Kazinsky, and Toby Kebbell. Check out this review roundup to see what critics are saying.

It’s not the first video game movie this year and it won’t be the last. Animated movies based on Ratchet & Clank and Angry Birds came out earlier this year, while Assassin’s Creed opens in December.

  • This Uncharted 4 Bug Removes Drake, Is Really Odd

There is a bug in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End that removes the Nathan Drake character model from the game, resulting in some…odd situations.

A new video from KHCloud (via Kotaku) shows off the bug during an early moment in the game. It’s one of the title’s most memorable scenes, but this is not how Naughty Dog imagined it. Check out the video below, which contains spoilers.

It’s unclear how KHCloud triggered the bug or if Naughty Dog is planning to fix this. There are undoubtedly many more scenes from Uncharted 4 that would be fun to watch without Drake, so we’ll keep our eyes out for those.

Uncharted 4 launched on May 10 and sold 2.7 million copies in its first week.

    GameSpot’s Uncharted 4 review scored the action-adventure game a 10/10.

“Uncharted 4 is a challenge to the medium. In its writing, in its design, in its understanding of what makes games unique, Uncharted 4 is something to aspire to,” critic Mike Mahardy said. “It’s a shining example. And we’ll be talking about it for years to come.”

Naughty Dog has extensive DLC plans for Uncharted 4 that include things like more multiplayer maps and modes, all of which will be free. Additionally, Naughty Dog is making single-player DLC for Uncharted 4, representing a franchise-first.

In other news, creative director Neil Druckmann has talked about the content that Naughty Dog cut from Uncharted 4.
