Xbox One's Terraria Facing This "Serious Issue"

A new update for the Xbox One version of Terraria has caused a “serious issue” that makes the game’s online multiplayer unplayable.

The new update launched on July 6, and in a tweet today, 505 told fans to “avoid” Terraria’s online multiplayer as the company finds a permanent fix.

“We are sorry to confirm that a serious issue exists in the Xbox One Terraria update that was published on July 6, version KTCP-20160531,” 505 said (via VideoGamer.com). “Online multiplayer is broken, and players should avoid trying to use that game mode for now.

“Single-player and local multiplayer are not affected, and can be safely used. Be assured that we are working on fixing this currently and we will get a fix out as soon as practical.”

There is no word yet on when the fix will be delivered. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

Terraria was originally released on PC in 2011, before coming to consoles later. The Xbox One version (along with a PlayStation 4 edition) launched in November 2014. Terraria has been a big hit, as it’s sold more than 18 million copies across all platforms.

Pikmin 4 Still Happening, Miyamoto Assures

Pikmin 4 was announced in September 2015, but not much has been said about it since. Now, iconic Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto has provided an update for fans, though there are still plenty of unanswered questions.

Speaking to GameRant, Miyamoto confirmed the game remains in development. As for why Nintendo has kept quiet about it lately, Miyamoto explained that it wasn’t always the highest priority, though he suggested it’s now getting close to finding a place on Nintendo’s schedule.

    Pikmin 3
    Pikmin 3

“You know, when we’re in development we have to create a list of priorities and it has been hard to kind of fit [Pikmin 4] into that list,” he said. “But we’re hopefully starting to see that on the list now.”

When Pikmin 4 was announced last year, Miyamoto said the game was “actually very close to completion.”

The latest game in the series was 2013’s Pikmin 3 for Wii U. That was the first franchise entry after almost a decade, as Pikmin 2 came out in 2004 for GameCube. In an earlier interview, Miyamoto said “Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”

Nintendo has not said when Pikmin 4 will launch or which platform(s) it might be released on. Options might include Wii U, 3DS, or the NX, though nothing is confirmed at this point. We also don’t know anything about the gameplay or story.

What would you like to see from Pikmin 4? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Here's Doctor Strange Movie's Big Villain

Here's Doctor Strange Movie's Big Villain

While the villains of Marvel’s movies are often well-known bad guys drawn from the comic books, this isn’t always the case. Kaecilius, the character that Mads Mikkelsen will play in the upcoming Doctor Strange isn’t technically new, but very little is known about him. Now a new prequel comic has revealed some of his backstory.

    3091366-mads.jpg

As reported by ComicBook.com, the prequel comic is written and drawn by Will Corona Pilgrim and Jorge Fornes, and takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At that point in the story, Kaecilius was not a villain. He was a high-ranking Master of he Mystic Arts, working alongside the Ancient One, who will be portrayed by Tilda Swinton in the film.

The comic shows the Masters in pursuit of a rogue member of their order, to retrieve a powerful staff he has stolen. Kaecilius is very much in charge, and unlike the other members of the Order, carries two small bladed weapons:

    3091368-kaecilius-group-shot-with-masters-188985.jpg

A character called Kaecilius did appear in the Doctor Strange comics of the 1960s, but in a largely forgotten role seemingly different to the one that has been created for the movie.

Last month, Mikkelsen spoke about film, and how it would differ from previous Marvel movies. “You have all the action, all the good ingredients you get in a Marvel film, but it will have a different flavour,” he told Yahoo! Movies.

“If you look at the comic books, [they] are quite different [to other Marvel stories]. I think that the film will be different from the other [Marvel] films that we’ve seen, but not as different as the books are, because that was basically the ’60s and ’70s. It was more like an acid trip.

“We’ve taken that fascination of the time into something we can relate to today. So you still have the energy, you still have the colours, you still have the madness, but you also have something you can identify with.”

Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch as mystical sorcerer Stephen Strange, and also also features Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams. It is directed by Sinister‘s Scott Derrickson.

The first trailer was released in April–check it out here. The film hits theaters on November 4, 2016.

His latest Instagram photos reveal the epic scale of the production:

In addition, star Isabela Moner has featured in a new video, surfing down the inside of a crashed subway car. Check that out here.

Last month, Bay revealed the latest member of the robotic cast, an Autobot called Squeeks. This follows the new looks given to fan favourites Bumblebee and Barricade.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be released in June 2017. Mark Wahlberg returns from 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, and will be joined by Josh Duhamel and Anthony Hopkins.

Earlier this year Paramount announced that it will be releasing a new Transformers movie every year until at least 2019. The studio confirmed the release dates for the next three movies: Transformers 6 is scheduled to debut on June 8, 2018, and Transformers 7 will follow on June 28, 2019.

In January, Bay confirmed that although he was returning to the director’s chair for The Last Knight, it will be his final movie in the series. “I still have a great time,” he told Rolling Stone. “It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else. It’s time to move on. One more.”

Now that Pokemon Go is available to download, developer Niantic Labs has updated its website with a rundown of all of the game’s major known issues.

One of the problems is the “You already own this item” error message on Android devices, while another bug makes your progress temporarily reset to level 1. Additionally, Niantic Labs warns that Pokemon Go can zap your battery when playing for a long time. “We are working on a solution,” the developer said about the battery life issue.

The AR game is free with microtransactions, though if you want limited access to the game without unlocking your phone, you can buy a $35 optional accessory. The accessory vibrates when a Pokemon is nearby, at which point you’ll have to press a button to catch the creature.

  • Captain America: Civil War Directors to Remake Cult Classic The Warriors

Captain America: Civil War Directors to Remake Cult Classic The Warriors

Having set two groups of superheroes against each other the smash hit Captain America: Civil War, Joe and Anthony Russo are now looking to bring another gang showdown to the screen. It has been reported that the directing brothers are to remake the classic thriller The Warriors.

    3090778-warriors.jpg

According to Deadline, the Russos are teaming with Paramount TV and Hulu to update the property as an hour-long TV pilot. A full series is expected if the pilot proves successful, although the Russos are currently only committed to that first episode.

The Warriors was originally released in 1979, directed by Walter Hill. The movie was itself based on a novel, and it is now considered to be one of the great cult classics of the late ’70s.

After The Warriors, the Russos will return to Marvel for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, which is due in 2018 and 2019. The two films are being shot back-to-back, and in May Anthony Russo revealed just how complex the production process is expected to be.

“We are shooting both movies at the same time, [and] there are so many actors involved in those films,” he told Den of Geek. “I think our narrative approach on those movies in going to be very unique to a superhero film.”

“One piece of the process is really important to us: that we watch and cut scenes every 48 hours,” he said. “So that we’re constantly assessing how the ideas are working. And if they are working, how can we make them work even better? And if they’re not working, then how do we fix them?

“I think it’ll be a very difficult, long shoot, because we’ll constantly be shooting and assessing and reshooting and assessing.”

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition Listed Online

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition Listed Online

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition has been rated by a German classification board, suggesting a version of CD Projekt Red’s RPG with all post-launch DLC will be available in the future.

The listing, which was discovered by Twitter user Lifelower, has been rated for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Neither developer CD Projekt Red nor publishers Bandai Namco and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have officially teased or announced a Game of the Year Edition yet.

GameSpot has contacted CD Projekt for a statement.

    3090773-1899133633-CmrL-.jpg

Since its launch in 2015, The Witcher 3 has been updated with two large expansion packs: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. The latter added a whole new region and featured 90 new quests, making up around 30 hours of gameplay.

CD Projekt co-founder, Marcin Iwinski said Blood and Wine is definitely the final chapter in The Witcher 3’s story and the studio has no intention of making a new Witcher game for the foreseeable future.

Instead it is focusing on Cyberpunk 2077, which is scheduled to launch sometime in the 2017-2021 window. The studio doesn’t expect to show more of it until for a while, however.

“Right now it’s the end of talking about Cyberpunk until we can go out there and show stuff and say, ‘Hey, here it is,’ because that’s how we do games, Iwinski said in May. “There is too much talking about what it possibly could be, and how big, and…

“When we show it, we should show it and explain it. So I’m going to have people not read anything about Cyberpunk probably for the next… time, whatever the time will be.”

At E3 2016, CD Projekt announced Gwent, a standalone version of The Witcher 3’s card collecting and battling game. It is scheduled for September, across Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

  • The Pope Now Has at Least One Video Game, This One

In May, Pope Francis met with a number of popular YouTubers to discuss how famous people on the internet can “harness their influence in helping promote tolerance, empathy, and understanding on the web.”

It is customary to give His Holiness a gift for a papal visit, and one of the YouTubers–Game Theory’s MatPat–has now revealed that he gave him a copy of the indie role-playing game Undertale.

Why Undertale? He explains in the video above (via Eurogamer), “Because regardless of how you feel about this game, Undertale represents an evolution for gamers and what they expect from the games that they play. Making it the single best representative of where we are as a community today.”

“That, and because I thought Five Nights at Freddy’s 3‘s tale of child murder might not be the best foot forward while meeting a world leader.”

He added: “As gamers, we know who we are, but every once in a while it’s important to let the world know that this community is about more than monster-hunting and level grinding.”

Undertale is currently a digital-only game, so we’re not exactly sure how MatPat gave the game to the Pope.

GameSpot’s Undertale review scored the 2015 PC game a 9/10. “It’s one of the most progressive and innovative RPGs to come in a long time, breaking down tradition for the sake of invention, with great success,” reviewer Tyler Hicks said.

I just interviewed the POPE! I am literally #blessed@Pontifex pic.twitter.com/S6soqWuPcC

    — Matthew Patrick (@MatPatGT) May 29, 2016

Pope Francis is not the first world leader to have been gifted a video game. In 2011, Poland’s prime minister Donald Tusk gave United States president Barack Obama a copy of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
