  • Here's A Fun Secret For Overwatch's Robotic Butler B.O.B.

    Here's A Fun Secret For Overwatch's Robotic Butler B.O.B.

Overwatch players are just now getting to know Ashe, the latest hero who was just added to PTR on PC and will likely be added to full game in the weeks ahead. Early reports are that Ashe is a blast to play, but is a high-skill hero, especially for players who hope to shoot the dynamite out of the air. Basically, Pharah beware! Players are also learning that Ashe’s robotic butler B.O.B. may have a soft side when his gun arm isn’t blowing away the competition.

If Ashe waves at B.O.B., he will wave back. Blizzard even created two waving animations – one for if B.O.B. has his weapon drawn, and another if he’s standing idle. This a fun little discovery that I’m sure players will use in the pre-game lobby, and, you guessed it, to grief players after B.O.B. mows them down. Just a heads up that you’ll likely start seeing this animation as more players discover it.

Last week Bethesda increased the window for one of the sessions to make amends for a bug that was forcing players to redownload the entire 50 GB B.E.T.A. In a note to fans, Bethesda warned that there will be bugs and glitches in Fallout 76 as the team dabbles in their first ever persistent online open world.

Fallout 76 launches November 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. • YouTube May Be Coming To Switch This Week

YouTube May Be Coming To Switch This Week

Nintendo has had a public distaste for media apps on the Nintendo Switch, stating that they prefer to focus on the Switch as a games machine when asked about generally standard apps like Netflix. This stance is not entirely consistent, however, and seems like it will be made even less consistent with rumors of YouTube arriving on the system as soon as this week.

Over the weekend, French site NintendHOME found a listing on Nintendo of America’s website which showed YouTube as a Switch app with a prospective release date of November 8.

❓Rumeur – L’application YouTube devrait arriver prochainement sur Nintendo Switch, plus précisément le 8 novembre si on en croit le site de Nintendo America. pic.twitter.com/NgvBhDJu1G

    — NintendHOME (@NintendHOME) November 3, 2018

Game Informer was able to also find the listing before it was seemingly removed on Saturday.

Should the date be accurate, that puts YouTube 364 days after Hulu was announced and released for the Switch last year on November 9. Whether that’s a coincidence or speaks to a year-long exclusivity agreement is hard to say, but the dates do seem odd. Maybe this means Netflix is on the way or it might be at least another year.

Have you been waiting for media apps like YouTube on the Switch or is it too little, too late?

  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey Mercenaries Live Events Are Being Put On Ice

One of Ubisoft’s prospective plans for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was the introduction of Mercenary occurrences, occasional live events that added epic mercenaries into Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for the player to meet and kill. The idea was similar in function to Hitman’s elusive targets, time-limited assassination targets that encouraged players to re-engage with the game during set times. For Ubisoft’s game, however, a problem emerged when the last two mercenary events were cancelled on the eve of going live. Now the developer says that they’re putting a freeze on the entire idea while they work out the bugs.

“Two weeks ago, when we attempted to launch the first Epic Mercenary Event with Damais the Indifferent, we discovered that the content didn’t properly appear for a majority of our players,” a Ubisoft community manager explained in a forum post. “It wasn’t satisfactory to have an event available to only a portion of our players, so we decided to temporarily remove the Epic Mercenary Events from the game altogether until the issue is resolved. We are working on a fix and are hoping to introduce them later this month. We will provide an updated ETA as soon as possible.”

The first event was cancelled October 18, with a promise to renew the hunting in two weeks. On October 30, Ubisoft tweeted an announcement that it would not be happening then, either. This week, they officially put it on ice, though the forum post says they will be renewing it again later this month, hopefully with more fruitful results than before.

Remember Damais the Indifferent? So far we’ve had no success in tracking him down, so, unfortunately, there won’t be a live event this week.

We’re working towards a solution to address an issue that prevents the mercenary live events from appearing as soon as we can. Stay tuned. pic.twitter.com/BHqEp1g3cb

    — Assassin’s Creed (@assassinscreed) October 30, 2018

In the meantime, Ubisoft is focusing on ship events, which are similar to the mercenary ones but with ship battles. Fans have suggested that there is a similar problem to the mercenary one there, as well, but it does not seem like Ubisoft is seeing the same degree of error there.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey released last month on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can find our review for the game right here.

  • Blizzard Responds To Backlash Surrounding Diablo Immortal

Blizzard Responds To Backlash Surrounding Diablo Immortal

Following Diablo Immortal’s reveal at Blizzcon this weekend, many fans have reacted to the announcement negatively as most hoped for a next major installment to the franchise.

The upcoming mobile title, Diablo Immortal, has been called a “slap in the face” by fans. Some claim it looks like a reskin of an already existing mobile game, Crusaders of Light, which is also made by NetEase.

During an interview with Kotaku, Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham explains that the studio expected some backlash, but “not to this degree.”

Adham believes that the anger from fans comes from a place of passion, and he reiterates that the Diablo franchise remains a big focus for the company.

“We know our audience here is passionately PC- and console-focused,” he told Kotaku. “We’ve also seen this before. We saw a similar response when we announced that we were bringing Diablo to console, and we saw a similar response to the announcement of Hearthstone.”

“They love what they love and want what they want,” he continued. “That passion, it’s actually what drives us, and we feel it too. It’s why we make games and why we’ve made games for almost three decades now—and why our community is so passionate about our franchises. I understand their feeling and wish we could share more about all the amazing things we’re doing, not just with the Diablo franchise but across the company as a whole.”

Adham reassured fans that while the reveal wasn’t what fans expected, Blizzard is still working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects. “I know our community here, there’s a concern that we are focused on this instead of that,” he said. “The truth is that we have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects even after announcing [Immortal].”

As for the accusations about Diablo Immortal being a simple reskin of another game, Adham denied these claims. He explained that all assets and art are unique to Diablo Immortal, and that it was “purpose-built from the ground up.”

“In the East, that control method is becoming ubiquitous, and it’s becoming ubiquitous because it’s very natural, and it feels great,” he said. “Less so in the West, but we’re now starting to see some games that are bringing that mechanic to the West. So it’s us taking inspiration from some of the work they’ve done already.”

  • Reader Discussion – Do You Use The HDMI In Port On Your Xbox One?

Reader Discussion – Do You Use The HDMI In Port On Your Xbox One?

When it launched back in 2013, the Xbox One promised it would be the all-in-one solution for media in your living room. This meant equipping it with an HDMI In port, which let you run other inputs, like that of a cable box, through it as well, letting you watch (and in some cases, control) your TV without swapping inputs. Neat, right?

I just don’t think anyone uses it. For me, it acts as a test of memory when I’m trying to hook mine up to an new TV. Is the HDMI port I need to hook it up to my TV the one closest to the power cable, or the one furthest away. I swear I screw it up at least 70 percent of the time. But why is that port still there!?

I’m happy to be proven wrong about my assumption. Do you actually use that thing, for TV or anything else? Let me know!
