  • New Doki Doki Literature Club Content Is Coming From The Game’s Creator

Doki Doki Literature Club, the much-loved, surprising 2017 visual novel, will receive new content in 2020. The game’s creator, Dan Salvato, has tweeted about his plans for 2020, expressing a desire to “reclaim his happiness” so that he can pass it onto others as well. Part of this will involve creating new content for Doki Doki Literature Club, although he says that he is not making a sequel.

This will be the year I reclaim my happiness so I can deliver it to others! My goal is to fully return to doing things I enjoy, such as making games. First releasing new DDLC content (not a sequel), then blowing the dust off my next original VN which has been on hold for 2 years.

    — Dan Salvato (@dansalvato) January 2, 2020

It’s not clear if this means DLC for the game, which is free to play on Steam, or a standalone spin-off. The original game, which features twists and turns that we will not spoil here, is regarded well for how it plays on genre expectations.

Along with making new content for his smash hit, Salvato is working on a follow-up, which has been on hold for the last two years. In September 2018, Salvato posted on his personal site to let people know that he was busier than expected, which was delaying his follow-up game.

  • Silent Hill 2 & 3 Art Director Is Working On A New Secret Game

Masahiro Ito, the art director of both Silent Hill 2 and 3, is working on something new. The artist, who was last credited on Metal Gear Survive as a creature designer, has announced on Twitter that he’s been brought into a new project.

Ito has left Konami and has been working as a freelance artist, but he says that he is a “core member” of this new project. In the tweet, he says that he hopes the title “won’t be cancelled,” perhaps recalling the debacle with Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills and its 2015 cancellation.

I’m working on a title as a core member. I hope the title won’t be cancelled.

    — 伊藤暢達/Masahiro Ito (@adsk4) January 4, 2020

In a follow-up tweet, Ito clarified that he could not talk about the project just yet.

About that, I can tell you nothing yet. ( ´•ᴗ•)

    — 伊藤暢達/Masahiro Ito (@adsk4) January 4, 2020

The Silent Hill series, particularly the first three entries, have long been praised and celebrated for their twisted enemy designs and strong art direction. Ito was a monster designer and background artist on the first game before becoming art director of the second and third games; he has not served as the art designer on another project since.

  • Crystal Fox in Official Trailer for Romance-Thriller ‘A Fall From Grace’

Crystal Fox in Official Trailer for Romance-Thriller ‘A Fall From Grace’

    A Fall From Grace Trailer

“That’s when everything I knew… shattered.” Netflix has launched the first official trailer for Tyler Perry’s new film, his first with the streaming studio, titled A Fall From Grace. This will be available at the end of this month, which is Netflix’s usual surprise when a trailer drops. Described as “an electrifying thriller,” the film is about a woman who is restored by a new romance after being disheartened since her ex-husband’s affair. When Grace learns secrets about her new husband, though, her vulnerable side turns violent. Crystal Fox stars as Grace, and the full cast includes Phylicia Rashad, Bresha Webb, Mehcad Brooks, Cicely Tyson, and of course, Tyler Perry. Looks like an upsetting thriller, hopefully with a few good twists in there. ›››

New UK Trailer for Restored Re-Release of 80s LGBTQ Film ‘Buddies’

    Buddies Trailer

“Possibly the most important film you’ve never heard of.” Peccadillo Pics in the UK has released an official trailer for a digitally restored re-release of 1985 film titled Buddies, written and directed by the late Arthur J. Bressan. Buddies was the first feature-length drama about AIDS when it was released. When 25 year-old David (David Schachter) volunteers to be a “buddy” to an AIDS patient the community center assigns him to Robert (Geoff Edholm), a 32 year-old politically impassioned gay California gardener abandoned by his friends and lovers. “Bressan did a simple yet radical thing: He told the story of one such friendship and, in the process, made the first feature-length drama about AIDS. Shot on 16mm film in nine days, [it] earned respectful reviews and a few festival prizes, but has faded from view over the years. Bressan died of AIDS in July 1987; now, thanks to the efforts of his sister Roe Bressan and film historian Jenni Olson, Buddies has received a 2K restoration… Thirty-three years after its initial release, the film remains as affecting as ever.” ›››

  • McFarlane Toys Unveils Three Cyberpunk 2077 Action Figures

McFarlane Toys Unveils Three Cyberpunk 2077 Action Figures

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, and there’s a good chance you’ll be able to pick up a Keanu Reeves/Johnny Silverhand action figure on the same day. McFarlane Toys is launching three different Cyberpunk 2077 action figures in the spring. Two of these figures are of Silverhand, one standing in at seven inches in height and the either at twelve. The seven-inch figure features 22 points of articulation, a guitar, bottle, base, and extra “rock on” hand. The 12-inch figure is sculpted in what McFarlane Toys describes as Silverhand’s “Chrome Rock Concert” pose.

The third figure is of V, the playable character that characters get to design. This version of V is described as the “default setting,” and is the character you see on the game’s box art. He also stands in at seven inches in height, features 22 points of articulation, and comes packaged with a Kang Tao-Dian SMG, Militech Saratoga Pistol, katana, and base.

You can see all three figures below:
