The holidays are almost here, and with them is The Sims 4 Seasons for Xbox One! Let’s dive into all the family fun your Sims will have, as well as a unique holiday we threw in for some *ahem* alternative fun.
First off, it’s important to note that this expansion pack has a brand-new calendar, which includes all upcoming holidays! Each one contains traditions to complete that help your Sim have an awesome time celebrating.

When chilly weather rolls around, so do holidays! Harvestfest is in the Fall, and Sims gather around the table for the grand meal. Sims can decorate their home for this special day with wreaths, flowers, and a pumpkin trio while the turkey’s cooking in the oven. Plus, there are lots of other goodies to make and bake for the whole family. Oh, and don’t look now, but you may find yourself encountering a certain straw-filled friend made especially for your garden. He’s friendly, though, so there’s no need to feel spooked. Halloween already happened, remember?
When Winter blows into town, so does Winterfest! Make your Sim’s home a special place to celebrate with a holiday pack and decoration box that lets you customize every room. Your Sims can also give gifts, sip hot cocoa, and warm their toes by the fireplace. The latter is key if you’d like a visit from Father Winter, too. You won’t want to miss his legendary holiday cheer, sure to brighten up every kid in the neighborhood.
And for even more ways to chill out, for the first time in The Sims 4, we’re introducing ice skating. Tricks, spins, and awkward falls await your Sims when you place the skating rink in any lot. Plus, Sims can arm themselves with hats and gloves, then head outside to make a snowpal and snow angels.

With that, let’s get into one holiday that’s a little, shall we say, different: The Neighborhood Brawl. It’s a (not so) time-honored tradition where Sims get together to practice their left hooks. On each other! It gets pretty crazy out in those streets, and your Sim may even draw a crowd during the fight. But, getting into fights bring many Sims restored confidence. And that’s worth a few bumps and bruises. There’s even a special song to sing on this particular occasion.
“So, why do Sims have a holiday for fighting,” you may ask? Because they’re Sims, of course! Sims do crazy things, especially at the hands of Simmers like yourselves.
We hope you’re getting ready for some serious celebrating with The Sims 4 Seasons expansion pack, available now on the Microsoft Store.

Nika Allen is a smart seven-year-old girl that has always been overlooked by her family at home, teachers, and kids at school. In addition to despising all these people, she also hates tacky clothes, fruits and vegetables, programmed obsolescence, stripped screws, history books, and repetitive video games among many other things in the world. Her only haven is her room where she spends her time working on some personal projects about electronics, robotics, and mechanics while drinking a delicious self-made concoction of cognac and cocoa. She is one of a kind, isn’t she?

You may have a list of things you hate in this world, but what have you done so they don’t annoy you anymore? Maybe you have tried talking to people. Well, Nika also tried it and everybody ignored her so, as fed up as she was, she started working on MechaNika: her plan for the destruction of all things that aren’t awesome. And now she needs the last components to complete her ambitious project. Will you join her?

MechaNika is one of the Psychotic Adventures, a genre-spanning video game series featuring a collection of adorable weird girls like Nika. The project began many years ago when Mariona, art director in Mango Protocol and mother of the Psychotic Girls, crafted a dozen of short stories about a bunch of little, twisted girls. These girls were coping with really serious issues in the most unexpected ways you could imagine and expanding those stories through fun and dark video games was an exciting idea.

The first Psychotic Adventure to be released on Xbox One was Agatha Knife though. This quest features a little butcher struggling between her love for the animals and her devotion to their tasty meat. Can you guess what she thinks she could do to solve this dilemma? She wants to create her own religion, Carnivorism, to convince her friends that the sacrifice of their flesh is the secret to eternal happiness. People loved it so we decided to bring Nika’s plan to Xbox One too.

As you can see, we love making video games that tackle controversial topics through the eyes of little girls with disturbingly hilarious stories. Then we add a layer of colorful visuals and charming tunes and the cognitive dissonance mix is done. We hope this contrast between deep, mature topics and the light-hearted art style in a story featuring a naive character will make the game really appealing, eventually leading players to not just enjoy the story but also to think about the different ideas being portrayed. But if not, at least we hope they have a great time while looking for the components of MechaNika.

It would be difficult to set out to make a game like Contra and not have it look exactly like Contra, so why not just lean into it instead? That’s pretty much what Blazing Chrome is setting out to do and it was obvious when we first took note of it at PAX East earlier this year, but every new trailer completely reinforces it. The developer has announced that you’ll be running and gunning in early 2019 and have officially announced a Switch version will come in tow.
Check out the new environments trailer below.
Developer JoyMasher has announced that the game will be releasing in early 2019, just missing its 2018 target date. However, this does give time for the newly-announced Switch release to launch alongside the other versions, so you can take it on the go from day one.

Last month, EA announced an intention to bring Command & Conquer back in the form of remasters, rather than the mobile endeavor the company showed off at E3 earlier this year. Far quicker than anyone thought, EA is seemingly ready to announce exactly what it has been cooking up, today announcing remasters for Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Command & Conquer: Red Alert, with all the expansions in tow.
Tiberian Dawn is the working title for what was simply released as Command & Conquer, the original 1995 PC game from Westwood Studios. It makes a lot of sense for the first game in the series to be chosen, but EA have also heard from the community that Red Alert is a more well-loved game, so that is also getting the remaster treatment.
“We have decided to remaster Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn,” creative director Jim Vessella writes in a blog post for the announcement. “And while this is incredibly exciting on its own, we’re also aware of how passionate the community is about the Red Alert universe. So, we will also remaster the original Command & Conquer: Red Alert™. But what about the classic expansion packs you may ask – Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath? Well, C&C and Red Alert wouldn’t be the same without them, so all three expansion packs will be bundled with the base games into one remastered collection – without microtransactions.”
Additionally, EA is contracting Nevada developer Petroglyph Games for the remaster, a studio made up of former Westwood staff that got together when EA shut Westwood down in 2003 to assimilate into EA Lost Angeles, which is now called DICE Los Angeles. Basically what this means is that the two remastered games will be made by many of the developers who worked on the titles originally.
“Joe Bostic is known as the co-creator of C&C, having also served as the Lead Programmer on Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert. Steve Tall joined Joe as a Lead Programmer on Red Alert, and Mike Legg contributed to all forms of audio systems at Westwood, having been an employee since 1986! All three members helped start Petroglyph Games in 2003 after the closure of Westwood and are joined by a veteran group of RTS developers from the past 15+ years. And don’t think we haven’t noticed the #1 request from the community in all the comments from the past month… You want Frank Klepacki. So as a cherry on top for the fans, we are thrilled to announce that Frank will be re-joining Petroglyph Games to be our Composer and Audio Director for the remaster collection!”
EA notes that the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection has yet to even start development, so it might be some time before we see anything from this, but they do seem to be handling it appropriately for a company that was once stringently against remasters of any kind.
