Latest Alien Isolation Patch Causing PS4 Issues

The recent release of patch 1.1 for Sega’s horror game Alien: Isolation has caused some issues for PlayStation 4 users. Specifically, after applying the update, some users have reported having trouble playing the game’s fifth mission. The Xbox One and PC versions are apparently unaffected.
Sega writes on its forums that is is working with Sony on a fix, though it’s unclear when this will be ready. In the meantime, the developer has removed the patch for PS4 owners, and published a set of instructions for how to revert to an earlier, less buggy version of Alien: Isolation.
If you follow the instructions below correctly, your game should work fine, Sega said.
- Uninstall Alien: Isolation from your PS4, being careful to retain your save games.
- Reinstall Alien: Isolation to your PS4.
- Download and install patch v1.01 from the PlayStation Network.
“Many thanks for your patience and apologies for any problems you have experienced,” Sega said.
Alien: Isolation’s 1.1 patch was released on Wednesday, November 12 across PS4 and Xbox One. The update addressed issues with the playback of certain cutscenes on those platforms.

Everything You Need To Know About Far Cry 4 Before Launch
Far Cry 4 is out on November 18 for every console (except the Wii U) and PC. In true Far Cry tradition, it takes us to a new exotic locale–the mountainous region of Kyrat–and features a new cast of characters. Though it builds upon the first-person shooter foundations of Far Cry 3, and keeps its best items like the wingsuit, there’s a lot more to the game than just its new faces and new places. Ubisoft’s 101 trailer below has more.
PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 Far Cry 4 players with PlayStation Plus subscriptions will receive ten invitations they can send to friends who don’t have a copy of the game. These gamers can then play a free trial version of Far Cry 4’s co-op mode.

- Processor – Intel Core i5-750 @ 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.2 GHz
- Memory – 4GB
- Video Card – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD5850 (1 GB VRAM), DirectX 11
- Hard Drive – 30 GB available space
If your PC is running an Nvidia card, you’ll have access to a few special graphical features through Far Cry 4’s Gameworks integration.
You’ll also have to fight off “deadly nighttime attacks from a mysterious cult,” Ubisoft says. On top of that, Ajay can explore caves, but “watch out for what lurks within,” Ubisoft warns, presumably about Yeti danger.
Find out about the star of the show: Kyrat’s self-appointed king, Pagan Min–played by Troy Baker.
So, after a bit of brainstorming, I decided to employ the big takeaways from all of these deaths: snow leopards love tasty flesh and yaks will charge at you if you get too close.

GTA 5's Online Mode Attracts 33.8M Players, Heists Coming Soon

More than 33.8 million people have played Grand Theft Auto V‘s multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online. That’s just one of the many incredible statistics Rockstar Games announced today as part of a “GTA Online Census: The Story So Far” report released today on the developer’s website.
In August, it was announced that GTA V had shipped more than 34 million copies, though at the time we didn’t know how many were actually sold to consumers. Now we know the figure is at least 33.8 million. GTA V was the best-selling game of 2013 in the United States.
Rockstar also today announced that GTA Online will finally add Heists in the first update to come to the game following the release of GTA V for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next week. Heists will be available in GTA Online across all platforms: Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4.
“We’ll have some details on that very soon,” Rockstar said.
For now, you can check out the graphics below that speak to just how incredibly popular GTA Online has been. Of course, all this data applies only to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

Just Cause 3 Story, World Size Details Revealed

Following the official announcement of Just Cause 3 on Tuesday, more details about the game have now come to light regarding the game’s story and world size, among other things.
Game Informer reports that Just Cause 3 will take place “several years” after 2010’s Just Cause 2. Rico is still the main character, but he has “significantly aged” since we last saw him.
In terms of setting, Just Cause 3 will take place in the fictional Mediterranean archipelago of Medici, where he will square off against General Di Ravello and his ironfisted regime.
Rico will have a number of new items and abilities available to him in Just Cause 3, including a new grapple hook (it can apparently hook onto almost any object), as well as a new wing suit to propel him to incredible speeds while falling from the sky.
As for Just Cause 3’s sheer size, Game Informer reports that the title will feature a 400 square mile map, with all three main areas available to explore from the onset. Throughout the game, you’ll encounter enemy bases, propaganda billboards, and loudspeakers, which you must destroy in order to “capture” the area. Doing so means you’ll be able to fast travel and save vehicles there.
In terms of controls, Game Informer reports that they have been “retooled” and now feel “a lot tighter.” Just Cause 3’s racing segments, meanwhile, have benefited from the contributions of former Burnout developers, according to the report.
Just Cause 3 launches in 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Despite reports that suggested it would be free-to-play, developer Avalanche Studios has since clarified that this won’t be the case, and that the game won’t have any microtransactions at all.
2015 will be a big year for Avalanche, as the developer also plans to launch Mad Max for consoles and PC next year. Just Cause 3 is in development at Avalanche’s New York City office.

Nvidia's Cloud Gaming Service Rolling Out Next Week, Limited To 720p

Nvidia has announced that its cloud-powered game streaming service, Grid, will be available starting next week for Nvidia Shield devices. Grid will roll out on November 18 in North America and in December for Europe. The service will be available in Asia sometime in 2015.
Grid will be free for Nvidia Shield Tablet ($300 + $60 for controller) and Nvidia Shield ($200) owners through June 30, 2015. After this, it will be offered through Netflix-like subscriptions or individual purchases or rentals.
Writing on its website, Nvidia explained that it look ten years for the company to create the technology to bring high-fidelity graphics to devices such as Shield.
“The reason: streaming games is hard,” the company explained. “You need to build a powerful gaming computer in the cloud. Then you need to get games to users in milliseconds.”
Grid will offer “super-low latency,” Nvidia said, thanks to the technology’s array of data centers around the world. “It’s an effort that’s put 20 petaflops of graphics processing compute power into the cloud. That’s equal to the fastest supercomputer in the U.S.,” Nvidia explained.
In terms of games support, users will be able to stream big-name games such as Batman: Arkham City and Borderlands 2, as well as older titles including Brutal Legend and Psychonauts. A total of 20 games will be available at launch, and more are planned to be released every week.
GameSpot sister site CNET recently went hands-on with Grid, reporting that resolution will be limited to 720p. Nvidia also advises that you have at least a 10 Mbps download speed to use Grid. For lots more on Grid, check out CNET’s in-depth coverage.

Warframe Going For Mustache-Themed World Record

Free-to-play PC and console game Warframe this week will make a world record attempt, and it’s one of the strangest ones we can recall. Developer Digital Extremes has announced that this Friday, November 14, it will attempt to set the new world record for “The Largest Gathering of People Wearing False Mustaches Simultaneously in a Video Game.”
Digital Extremes is calling on the Warframe community to display their in-game facial hair on November 14 between 3 PM – 6 PM Eastern to help set the world record. The developer recently released a handful of virtual mustaches that players can wear in-game.
It’s all part of Digital Extremes’ effort to raise awareness for men’s health as part of the annual Movember campaign, where men are encouraged to grow beards. The more donations Warframe players make to Movember, the more in-game mustaches will be released in-game.
To date, Digital Extremes has raised more than $7,600 for Movember. You can read more about Warframe’s Movember campaign and donate through the game’s website.
The virtual mustaches are available in Warframe on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
The world record attempt will be broadcast live on Warframe’s Twitch channel this Friday. Digital Extremes has even enlisted a local university professor to verify the record, and players are encouraged to send in screenshots of their mustachioed Warframe characters.

Following an extended closed beta period, PS Now entered opened beta in July. It now is available across five platforms: PS3, PS4, PS Vita, PS TV, and some Sony TVs.
PS Now director of marketing, Peter Jamshidi, also revealed on the PlayStation Blog that gamers have already together spent the equivalent of more than 100 years using PS Now.
Other major publishers already on-board with PS Now include Konami, Capcom, Square Enix, and Sega. Jamshidi said Sony will “continue to add more” over time.
Currently, PS Now only offers individual game rentals, but this is going to change. The service’s Netflix-like subscription plan, announced back in January, is still in the works, Jamshidi said. He added that Sony hopes to share more details about this soon.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Trial Now Available Via EA Access On Xbox One
Xbox One owners can now play BioWare’s upcoming open-world role-playing game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, provided they have a membership to EA Access ($5/month or $30/year).
EA Access members can now download the Inquisition trial through the EA Access hub on Xbox One. Similar to other trials, the one for Inquisition is limited to a period of six hours.
Beyond the time limit, however, there are no other caveats for Inquisition’s pre-release play period on Xbox One. You’ll have access to the full game (after a 40 GB+ download), including its single-player campaign and cooperative multiplayer missions.
In-game messages will let you know how much time you have left.
All of your progress through Inquisition’s trial will carry forward to the full version of the game. EA Access members will even save 10 percent on the game, meaning they can get it for $54.
Though Inquisition doesn’t launch until next Tuesday, November 18, the game’s review embargo has already lifted. We scored the game a 9/10, while other critics praised it highly as well.
