  • Titanfall DLC Goes Free on Xbox One and Xbox 360

Microsoft has removed the price of all of Titanfall‘s DLC on Xbox One and Xbox 360, according to the game’s store page, in what appears to be a limited-time promotion.

Titanfall’s trio of expansions–Expedition, Frontier’s Edge, and IMC Rising–usually cost $10 in the US and £7 in the UK. However, the Xbox store in both territories lists all the content on both systems as free (US page, UK page).

It is unclear how long the promotion will last, and neither Microsoft nor EA have announced the deal. The promotion does appear to tie in with the one-year anniversary of Titanfall, which first shipped on Xbox One and PC on March 11.

PC owners cannot take advantage of the deal, with EA’s Origin platform currently listing each content pack for $10 (£8).

GameSpot has contacted both companies for further details.

Titanfall was pitched by Microsoft as one of the Xbox One’s first major console exclusives. GameSpot’s Titanfall review was laced with praise, describing Respawn’s debut shooter as “a game that combines the vibrant and new with the tried and true to create something special.”

Titanfall 2, likely the next triple-A game in production at Respawn studios, will not be an Xbox exclusive.

  • Watch an Original NES Run Netflix

Netflix Hack Day is an biannual event for the company’s engineers and designers to cut loose and do something wacky. This year, a trio of hackers got the video streaming service working on an NES.

The results are actually probably worse than you’d expect. The interface works by scrolling text in the same way that you’d run through an old Mario Bros. game. In a clip posted to YouTube, the engineers try to watch House of Cards.

Because something like this requires so much of the console’s power and memory the console can only output four colors instead of its usual 256 while playing video. According to the video, the software is running on an unmodified NES console, but the engineers don’t reveal how they got the hack working.

In any case, you probably won’t be watching the latest dramas or old Futurama episodes on this machine, still it’s fun to see people still messing around with the 30-year-old console.

We reached out to the hackers for details on how they got this set-up working, and will update when we have more information.

  • Remember Me 2 Already Has Story, Capcom Just Needs To Greenlight It

Remember Me 2 Already Has Story, Capcom Just Needs To Greenlight It

Remember Me and Life is Strange developer Dontnod allegedly has the story for Remember Me 2 completed. Speaking to Siliconera, creative director, Jean-Maxime Moris said, “We know what we would do for Remember Me 2. The main story has been written. We know what we would add to the recipe. We know what we would fix. It’s a game that’s ready to be made, but that decision is Capcom’s to make.”

Reception for Remember Me was mixed at launch. Gamespot critic Kevin VanOrd generally praised the game, awarding it a 7 out of 10, but other sites weren’t so kind. Negative reviews prompted Moris to claim that the “game was misunderstood” and that it was “buried under the hype for [The Last of Us].”

Even if Capcom did want a sequel, for the time being Dontnod is focused on its episodic game Life is Strange, which is published by Square Enix. Moris said, “Obviously we need to see and Square Enix needs to see how the first season [of Life is Strange] does to really decide whether we kick it off or not.”

We reached out to Capcom about the future of Remember Me 2. The publisher responded saying, “Capcom has made no announcements about a new Remember Me title.”

  • Xbox Live Struggling on Xbox 360 [UPDATE]

Xbox Live Struggling on Xbox 360 [UPDATE]

[UPDATE 7:34 PM EDT] “Purchase and Content Usage” on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 remains “limited,” but the rest of the core services are back up and running

    The original story is below.

Xbox Live for Xbox 360 is currently facing a number of issues.

A service alert posted on Microsoft’s website explains that Purchase and Content Usage and Social and Gaming are “limited.” Earlier today, core services like signing-in were affected, but those problems have since been fixed.

“Are you having a tough time matchmaking or using the Smartglass application? We’re hard at work right now trying to get things back to normal,” Microsoft said. “Thanks for your patience!”

Xbox Live for Xbox One is not affected.

The issues for Xbox Live on Xbox 360 today come on the same day that Grand Theft Auto V introduced the long-awaited online Heists mode. It is unclear, however, if the Xbox Live downtime and the release of Heists are in any way connected.

“Microsoft is aware of an issue affecting access to some Xbox 360 services. We are working to restore full access to these services as quickly as possible,” a representative said.

GTA Online Heists, too, are struggling today.

Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest on the connectivity issues for Xbox Live and GTA Online.
