Must Watch: Second Trailer Arrives for 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

“I fear nothing. All is as the Force wills it.” Disney + LucasFilm have unveiled the second trailer for Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first spin-off in the Star Wars universe, in theaters this December. A short teaser showed during Star Wars Celebration in London and this new full-length trailer first aired during NBC’s Olympics coverage. Starring Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, plus Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Jonathan Aris, Riz Ahmed & Alan Tudyk, Rogue One is about a group of rebels who set out on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. This seriously looks amazing and I love how much this feels like it’s a part of the original trilogy, yet still seems like something completely fresh. All this footage makes me happy. So many new characters to meet! ›››

  • Rocko's Modern Life Resurrected for TV Movie

Nickelodeon is making a Rocko’s Modern Life TV movie, it has been announced.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie will be a one-hour TV special featuring all the main characters from the classic ’90s animated show. Fans may be happy to learn, too, that creator Joe Murray is back in an executive producer role for the film, which is being made at Nickelodeon Animation Studios.

“I’m very happy to be rejoining Rocko and my friends from O-Town again,” Murray said. “What I have found by bringing these characters back is that it’s not so much about nostalgia, but a sense that they still feel relevant and fresh to me, and after 20 years, they can’t wait to comment on modern life in the 21st century. They still have a lot to say.”

Rocko’s Modern Life originally ran for four seasons from 1993 to 1996. The announcement of the TV movie came on August 11, which is the exact 25th anniversary of the Nicktoons brand that debuted in 1991 with Doug, Rougrats, and The Ren & Stimpy Show.

“Greenlighting a Rocko’s Modern Life special is another strong example of how we are bringing our library content back for both new audiences and the generation that grew up on them in the ’90s,” Nickelodeon’s Chris Viscardi said in a statement. “It’s a testament to the strength and appeal of these characters that so many people have loved Nick animation for these last 25 years, and we are excited to bring them back for new stories and adventures.”

There is no word yet on what the TV movie will be called, who will appear in it, or when it will be released. It’s just the latest TV movie based on a classic Nickelodeon show, as Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie is also on the way.

Destiny Iron Banner Returns Next Week With These Awesome-Looking Gear Rewards

Destiny‘s limited-time Iron Banner multiplayer event will return next week, Bungie has announced. The event kicks off on August 16, and this time, the gametype is the straightforward shoot-fest Clash. This Iron Banner runs until Tuesday, August 23, ending at around 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET that day.

Saladin is offering up a number of bonuses for Iron Banner players, including armor and weapons, as well as some content exclusive to PlayStation users. The PlayStation-exclusive items can be seen immediately below, while you can click through the gallery to see the rest of the armor and weapon rewards.

The new Iron Banner event is scheduled to begin at around noon PT on August 16, which is roughly two hours later than normal. This is because Destiny is undergoing some maintenance that day, starting at 9 AM PT. It ends “when Bungie says so,” and Iron Banner will kick off right after this.

You may have noticed that the downtime overlaps with Destiny’s upcoming Rise of Iron Crucible livestream. Did Bungie plan this to draw more users to its livestream?

“We did not,” Bungie said. “These are the machinations of progress. Sometimes, everything happens all at once.”

Rise of Iron launches on September 20 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is Destiny’s fourth expansion, following The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King.

Are you going to jump back into Destiny next week to take part in the Iron Banner event? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Big Destiny: Rise of Iron News Coming Next Week

Big Destiny: Rise of Iron News Coming Next Week

With the release of Destiny‘s newest expansion, Rise of Iron, just around the corner, Bungie is preparing to open the floodgates regarding information about its Crucible mode.

The developer this week revealed more details about its previously announced Rise of Iron livestream event for Gamescom. This video event will include “new details about the Crucible,” Bungie said in a blog post. World design lead Steve Cotton and Crucible lead designer Lars Bakken will be on-hand to show off the goods, including new game modes, maps, and features.

    3108070-destiny.jpg

“They’ll lay down some additional context while two Fireteams engage each other,” Bungie said.

If you like Destiny but don’t care much for Crucible, you’re getting something new as well next week. Bungie will release the latest “Bungie ViDoc,” this one showing off the “entire Rise of Iron player experience.” This will include a new look at Felwinter Peak and the Plaguelands, featuring developer insight about “every aspect of the journey” that is Rise of Iron.

In addition to new maps for Crucible, Rise of Iron comes with new gear, a new raid, and more quests, among other things. The Gjallarhorn is also coming back.

In another blog post, Bungie confirmed what Sony said earlier this week, that Destiny will be playable at Gamescom. “But we won’t yet say what you’ll be able to play,” the developer teased.

Destiny’s Gamescom livestream takes place on Tuesday, August 16, starting at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. You can watch the briefing at Bungie’s Twitch channel.

Rise of Iron comes out on September 20 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One–but not PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Destiny 2, or whatever Bungie decides to call it, is also in the works and is coming in 2017. Just recently, some reported Destiny 2 art surfaced online.

  • New No Man's Sky Patch Coming for "Most Critical Issues"

New No Man's Sky Patch Coming for "Most Critical Issues"

No Man’s Sky launched this week on PlayStation 4 (and comes to PC later today), but the game’s release hasn’t gone entirely to plan. Developer Hello Games said in a blog post today that it’s aware of “a number” of issues, bugs, and crashes, and is “working to resolve [them] as soon as possible.”

In the blog post, which is titled “Issues,” director Sean Murray also said the number of players, and their average play length per session, has been “far more” than the team anticipated. Hello Games has made a point to say time again that No Man’s Sky was made by a very small team. Murray added that Hello Games is “working quickly to adapt” to the greater-than-expected demand.

“We sincerely apologize to anyone affected in the meantime,” he said.

To help remedy the situation, Hello Games has hired a new quality assurance team that is larger than the entire Hello Games staff. This is in addition to an existing No Man’s Sky QA team at Sony, the game’s publisher.

    2981143-resourcelab_1445969599.png

Murray said Hello Games is working on fixes for the “most critical issues,” though a list of these was not provided. Whatever the case, a patch in the “near future” will fix these problems.

Additionally, he confirmed that Hello Games is moving to a “ticketed” support system and has brought on a new staffer for this role, beginning Monday. In the meantime, you can visit the Sony forums or contact Hello Games here if you’re experiencing problems in No Man’s Sky.

Also in the blog post, Murray offered up some workarounds for existing issues like getting stuck.

    • If you believe you are stuck, or can’t reach your ship, be aware you can jetpack forever whilst pushing against any surface
    • If you have made a mistake–you can revert to any of your two previous saves in the Options Menu
    • If you have left your ship somewhere inaccessible, you will be able to summon it from landing pads or beacons found at most buildings or points of interest (marked by question marks)

Murray also responded to a problem involving some players not receiving their preorder bonuses.

“In most cases so far, the player has either not redeemed their bonus correctly from the PS Store or from the Options Menu,” he said. “Also sometimes players have received the bonus, but the name displayed in-game was incorrect. The Alpha Vector ship is named Domanish S84 in-game, and (in the US) the Rezosu AZ65 is named Final Shadow XIV in game.”

The developer also provided an update on the No Man’s Sky issue where a preorder bonus ship could leave some players stranded. “In most cases the player is actually able to continue (107 of the 135 reports emailed so far),” he said. “The game already detects the player needs a hyperdrive and directs them to a nearby NPC who will give the player the hyperdrive they need. Some other players were able to resolve this issue by restarting their console.”

  • Han Solo Spinoff Movie Will Feature This Iconic Star Wars Character – Report

Han Solo Spinoff Movie Will Feature This Iconic Star Wars Character – Report

It’s been known for some time that Han Solo would be joined by his trust co-pilot Chewbacca in the upcoming spinoff movie, and it seems that another Star Wars favourite might be making appearance too. It has reported that casting is underway for an actor to play fellow space scoundrel Lando Calrissian.

    3108062-lando-calrissian-and-harrison-ford-han-solo-in-star-wars-the-empire-strikes-back-1645431026.0.0.jpg

The story was first reported by The Wrap, and BMD have subsequently revealed that Community star Donald Glover is the first choice of directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller to play Lando. Glover is currently filming Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and it is unknown if an offer has been made for him to appear in the Solo film.

Lando featured in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, played by Billy Dee Williams. He is first introduced as an old friend of Han’s, and the previous owner of the Millennium Falcon.

The only piece of confirmed casting to date is Alden Ehrenreich, who will play Solo. At San Diego Comic-Con last month, Ehrenreich told fans that he didn’t have many expectations when he first auditioned. “When it first came along I knew everybody would be going out for it,” he said, via Deadline. “I read the sides and loved them and thought, ‘Who knows, but let me give it a shot.’”

The actor also revealed that the entire audition process took six months, and some of the screen tests were alongside Chewbacca on the set of the Falcon.

The Han Solo movie has been written by Star Wars veteran Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon, and is expected to begin production in early 2017. It is set for release on May 25, 2018.

  • THQ Returns as Nordic Games Rebrands, Has 13 Unannounced Titles in Development

THQ Returns as Nordic Games Rebrands, Has 13 Unannounced Titles in Development

Nordic Games has announced it is rebranding itself as THQ Nordic, in a move that it says “represents a core approach of doing more than owning a highly competitive portfolio of [intellectual properties].”

In April 2015, Nordic Games acquired a number of THQ’s intellectual properties during a bankruptcy auction. These including the Darksiders, Red Faction, and MX vs. ATV franchises.

According to Lars Wingefors, chief executive of THQ Nordic, this was a defining moment for the company, and the IP it acquired will become a key part of the its future.

    3108059-unnamed.jpg

“One could say the most defining moment for our company happened in 2013, grabbing headlines like; ‘Who the f*** is Nordic Games?,’ ‘Darksiders Gets Bought By…Nordic Games?,’ and ‘Nordic Games explains who the f they are, plans for THQ assets’,” he said.

“While we take great pride in our Swedish roots and accomplished a great deal under the Nordic Games masthead, we decided it was time to incorporate the THQ name. Those key brands will continue to shape our business in a meaningful way going forward, and THQ Nordic represents a core approach of doing much more than owning a highly competitive portfolio of IP.

“We cherish them, and align them with the very best development resources to expand upon them with the level of experience that communities and established fan bases expect and deserve.”

According to Wingeforst, THQ Nordic has 23 games in development, 13 of which have not been announced publicly, but “are sure to be in the next months.”

“With this rebrand we are entering the next phase in our company’s evolution,” he continued. “As of now we have 23 game projects in development, 13 thereof have not yet been publicly announced but are sure to be in the next months. Needless to say, the majority of these projects are based on former THQ owned IPs and franchises.”

Nordic Games’ recently announced plans to re-release the first Darksiders title. The new Warmastered Edition will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC. It will be available on October 25 for $20. The PC version includes 4K support and “additional video options.” There have previously been suggestions a proper sequel to Darksiders could be in development.

  • Final Fantasy 15's Season Pass DLC Has a Few Small New Details

Details on the DLC content included in Final Fantasy 15‘s DLC pass have been revealed. As reported in early August, the extra content will include a mixture of story episodes, items, and a mysterious expansion.

The exact nature of the episodes, which are focused on each of main character Noctis’ friends, is still unclear. However, the game’s official website, as translated by Siliconera, states the expansion will create a “new way to play” the game. It also offers a little more insight into what the item packs include. Take a look at the full list of DLC below.

    • DLC 1 – Booster Pack: Will help you acquire powerful weapons to use in battle.
    • DLC 2 – Episode Gladiolus: An original episode that focuses on Noctis’ friend Gladiolus. The episode makes him a playable character, allowing you to control Gladiolus.
    • DLC 3 – Episode Holiday Pack: Includes a splendid item pack to make your game more gorgeous.
    • DLC 4 – Episode Ignis: An original episode that focuses on Noctis’ friend Ignis. The episode makes him a playable character, allowing you to control Ignis.
    • DLC 5 – Episode Prompto: An original episode that focuses on Noctis’ friend Prompto. The episode makes him a playable character, allowing you to control Prompto.
    • Expansion Pack: An expansion pack that makes it possible to enjoy a completely new way to play Final Fantasy XV.

The Season Pass is included in the Digital Premium Edition of Final Fantasy 15, which is available to preorder for $84.99 on the PlayStation Store. An upgrade option is also available as a “special deal” to those that have already preordered a digital version of the game. Although it was initially listed for $24.99, it has since been removed.

The Final Fantasy 15 release date has been confirmed as September 30, 2016. It will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while Square Enix is “thinking about a PC version.” If the RPG does come to PC, fans should not expect this version to launch alongside the console editions in September, if it happens at all.
