Spider-Man Creator Stan Lee's Life Is Being Turned into an Action Movie–Report

Stan Lee’s cameos are a regular part of Marvel movies, but the comic book legend could be heading to the big screen in a very different form. It has been reported that the rights to Lee’s life story have been bought for a potential action movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee has sold his life rights to Fox, who produce the big screen version of the X-Men and The Fantastic Four. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who have previously produced movies such as Twilight, The Maze Runner, and the upcoming Power Rangers, are overseeing the project.

The site reports that rather than turn Lee’s life story into a straight biopic, the studio is looking to adapt it into a period action adventure, with the tone of Kingsman: The Secret Service or “Roger Moore’s 007.”

Lee’s first break in the comics industry came in 1961, when he co-created the Fantastic Four with artist Jack Kirby, after years of struggling as a writer for a variety of publishers. In the following years he helped create such as now-legendary superheroes as Spider-Man, Hulk, the X-Men, and Iron Man.

As the THR notes, no writer has yet been hired to develop the movie.

  • Pokemon Go "Likely" to Be Released for Android Wear Devices

Following the announcement that Pokemon Go will support Apple Watch, developer Niantic Labs has said it is “pretty likely” the game will also be available for Android Wear devices in the future.

Speaking to Tech Crunch, John Hanke, Niantic’s chief executive, said the studio’s goal is to “evangelize this whole concept of playing games outside, real world games.” Supporting as many devices as possible, it seems, is a key part of this goal.

“[We think Apple Watch] is a great vehicle for that,” he said. “As other devices come on the market–if those are Android Wear devices or if they are devices from other quadrants that are interesting for gameplay and mobility, and being active–we’ll look into supporting those too.”

Asked specifically about Pokemon Go being released for Android Wear, Hanke added,”I think it’s pretty likely.”

Pokemon Go for Apple Watch was announced on September 8. Using the device players can see how far they need to walk to hatch eggs, how much more XP you need to level up, and nearby Pokemon. Unfortunately, you’ll still have to get out your phone to catch Pokemon.

During Apple’s iPhone 7 reveal event, Niantic confirmed Pokemon Go has been downloaded more than 500 million times around the world. Additionally, players have walked more than 4.6 billion kilometers while playing.

Self-Driving Cars Will Use GTA V To Learn How To Drive, Run For The Hills

You probably know Grand Theft Auto V isn’t the kind of video game that encourages adherence to posted speed limits. Actually I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to play without committing multiple virtual felonies in the time it takes to load the title screen. So why is it being used as a training platform for autonomous cars?

Destiny Private Matches Are Finally Here, And They’re Really Fun

I hadn’t realized just how badly Destiny needed private competitive matches until today, when Bungie added them to the game. I also hadn’t realized how much fun I’d have going up against my friends.

  • First Trailer for Sequel 'Fifty Shades Darker' Starring Dakota Johnson

First Trailer for Sequel 'Fifty Shades Darker' Starring Dakota Johnson

    Fifty Shades Darker Poster

“I want you back…” “I don’t see how this can work.” We’re only going to write about this movie once, so let’s get it over with. Universal has debuted the first official trailer for the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel titled Fifty Shades Darker, directed this time by James Foley (of Glengarry Glen Ross). Dakota Johnson returns to play Anastasia Steele, and Jamie Dornan returns to play her tormented lover Christian Grey. Despite breaking up, they obviously get back together. The cast includes Kim Basinger, Tyler Hoechlin, Bella Heathcote, Hugh Dancy, Max Martini, Marcia Gay Harden, Rita Ora and Luke Grimes. This is pretty much exactly what you’d expect – more of the same cheesiness, more sex, more sadism, more footage that will make you roll your eyes. There’s even a few shots that look like a horror movie. Not for me. ›››

The Dangerous Life of John McAfee Doc

“He would talk about his hitmen, he would talk about how he could have people hurt or killed.” Showtime has debuted a trailer for the documentary Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee, from director Nanette Burstein, which is playing at the Toronto Film Festival now. You probably remember hearing about this story – John McAfee, founder of the popular anti-virus software that bears his name, was accused of murdering his ex-pat neighbor in Belize in late 2012. He escaped the country and was eventually deported back to the United States, but never charged. The doc examines the story and the wild side of McAfee, and reviews from TIFF indicate that this shows he was involved in not one, but two, murders. This looks crazy. ›››

Full US Trailer for 'Come What May' with a Score by Ennio Morricone

    Come What May Trailer

“The only way to keep our grip is to return to where we belong.” Cohen Media recently released this French film in US theaters (starting in NYC), titled Come What May, from director Christian Carion. Set in 1940 at the beginning of World War II, the film is about various people from small village in northern France who had to escape when the Germans invaded. It focuses primarily on two of them: Hans, seeking to recover his son who fled the village, and Percy, hoping to reach the sea, and find a boat back to England. Surprisingly, the film features an original score by Ennio Morricone, one of the few original scores he’s written recently besides The Hateful Eight. The full cast includes Alice Isaaz, August Diehl, Mathilde Seigner, Olivier Gourmet and Matthew Rhys. This looks like it’s a damn good WWII drama, I might have to check it out. ›››
