Despite an impressive first game from the two-time winners of the League of Legends World Championship, ROX Tigers looked set to beat their more senior South Korean rivals in the best-of-five semifinals against SK Telecom T1. It wasn’t until game four that SKT was able to claw their way back into things and tie the series up at 2-2. And then, in the final game, SKT showed that they weren’t going to just step-aside and let the Tigers barrel on toward the Grand Finals.
“In this fiction, we all revolve around the protagonist.” The Orchard has released an official US trailer for Pablo Larraín’s other film this year, titled Neruda, about a Chilean Senator in the 1940s who is chased by a police man. Larraín is a filmmaker everyone should be getting to know, especially with two great films this year – his other one is Jackie starring Natalie Portman (his first English-language feature). We ran the first trailer for Neruda back in May, just before it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. It has since earned lots of rave reviews at numerous festivals all over the world. Luis Gnecco plays the famous poet Pablo Neruda, and Gael García Bernal plays the cop after him. This is one of the most truly poetic films I have ever seen, with so much to take in and appreciate between the dialogue and visual sensibilities. Get a glimpse below. ›››
“What have we become if everything we value, everything we care about, we consume…?” The kind of question you should be thinking about every day. Netflix has debuted an official trailer for the documentary The Ivory Game, a powerful and vitally important doc about elephants and the horrors they’re suffering at the hands of ivory traders. This is one of the best documentaries you might see all year, it’s intense and well-made and pulls you into the story. Not only does this examine the ivory industry and how buyers and sellers are complicit in the poaching of elephants, but it also follows a group of wildlife activists in Africa. They go on a hunt to find and arrest one of the top poachers, and it’s riveting to follow them on the journey. ›››
“He played you. You got played.” Paladin has released the official trailer for an indie drama titled Frank & Lola, a self-described “psychosexual noir romance about love and sex”, set mostly in Las Vegas. Michael Shannon plays a top notch chef living in Las Vegas, who meets and hooks up with the fairly broken and troubled Lola, played by Imogen Poots. The two get mixed up in various sexual encounters while dealing with other personal problems in their own lives. I actually saw this at the Sundance Film Festival, where it premiered earlier this year, and it’s fairly forgettable. The story is all over the place, it relies too much on the sex without much substance elsewhere, and the performances are fine but don’t stand out in anyway. Also featuring Justin Long, Michael Nyqvist and Rosanna Arquette. If you’re still curious, give it a look. ›››
Something new in Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886 franchise could happen, the developer has teased. According to DualShockers, creative director Ru Weerasuriya told Game Informer that “the IP has a future,” though it remains to be seen if this could be a new game or something else.
“The best way to answer that without giving anything… how can I say this… Is there a future? Yes. That IP has a future. It’s definitely built in that IP,” he said. “That future is already something that was built from the very get go, from the first day we started working on it. As you know, since you played the game and for the ones who played out there… there is a larger storyline. There is a macro story that keeps going, it’s an IP that is actually bigger than the storylines that we have created. So there are legs to this IP, definitely.”
As for whether Sony would remain the publisher for any new game installments, Weerasuriya said, “Well, you’ll have to ask Sony that.” Watch the full Game Informer interview in the video above, featuring Weerasuriya and Andrea Pessino, the co-founders of Ready at Dawn.
“We feel that The Order showcased the fruits of our labor on technology. That was one of the biggest focuses for the team having come from PSP and jumping directly to PS4,” Weerasuriya said at the time. “The first game was more than anything a launch platform to build upon.”
“The Order was never written as a one-off story,” he added “There is a lot more to tell as you can see from the way the game ends.”
GameSpot’s The Order: 1886 review scored the game a 5/10, saying the title is “at best, perfectly playable, and lovely to look at and listen to. But it is also the face of mediocrity and missed opportunities.”
[UPDATE] In 343’s latest Halo weekly blog post, the developer revealed one more stencil, this one themed around the Halo Championship series logo. The stencil was designed by 343 graphic designer Charles Ramos.
The original story is below.
With Halloween right around the corner, you might be thinking about carving a pumpkin. If you want to try your hand at a Halo design, 343 Industries has now released a number of stencils to help you out.
The developer posted 11 stencils on its blog, ranging in difficulty from Easy to Legendary. Some of the designs are for Halo items like the energy sword, Master Chief’s helmet, the UNSC logo, and a Guardian. That last one is listed as being of the Legendary difficulty variety–and it certainly looks like it.
Check out all the stencils in the blog post or in the image gallery above. Print them out and then apply to your pumpkin to get started. You can then post your creation on Twitter using the hashtag #HaloLantern for a chance to have it featured in an upcoming post by 343. #HaloLantern is the same hashtag that the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used in the past for their own pumpkin-carving promotion.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn really wants a Nebula spinoff to happen. He talked about it recently on Twitter. Sound like a good idea?
I have a few favorites myself, but I agree that Nebula should lead her own film – it’s something I’ve thought about from the beginning. https://t.co/lyPAA6Hyxw
Twitch streamer Rudeism is at it again. He’s known for playing games with odd objects and that’s exactly what he does in this new Overwatch video–he plays the game with a bow controller. Really. See the incredible video and get more details at Kotaku.
According to Screencrush, Michael Dougherty is in negotiations with producers Legendary to helm the film, which is due in 2019. Dougherty had already been announced as co-writer of the movie alongside Zach Shields, and is now under consideration to direct. According to the site, Dougherty’s role may depend on Legendary’s approval of his and Shields’s screenplay.
Dougherty previously directed the Christmas-themed horror movie Krampus, which he also wrote with Shields, as well as the acclaimed Halloween anthology Trick R’ Treat. As a writer, he worked on Bryan Singer’s superhero movies X-Men 2 and Superman Returns.

Each week we search and gather up the coolest comic book art you won’t see in actual comics. The reason you won’t is because professional artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites, blogs, and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out. This is a way to see the artists working on one book draw characters from other comics or publishers.
Kevin Wada posted some recent commissions on his Tumblr.
Kris Anka posted a Wonder Woman sketch for Wonder Woman Day on his Tumblr.
Franco posted some new art on his Instagram. Original art is available here.
Mike Henderson posted pics on his Instagram. His original art can be found here.
Sara Pichelli posted more commissions from New York on her Tumblr.
Paolo Rivera posted a couple new sketches on his blog.
Michael Walsh posted recent commissions on his Instagram.
The Last Guardian has been in development a long time. How long? The development team has been working on it in various stages since 2007. But despite numerous delays, including one just last month, the game has finally gone gold.
PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed in a tweet, “The Last Guardian has gone gold! I’m so excited for you all to finally experience it ˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖”
I’ve waited a very long time to say this… The Last Guardian has gone gold! I’m so excited for you all to finally experience it ˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖
“Going gold” means that primary development has concluded and the game can be pressed to physical discs. However, with the proliferation of day-one patches and DLC, there’s still typically lots of work for developers to do after reaching this important milestone.
The Last Guardian was primarily developed by Fumito Ueda, the talent behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. It was set to launch on the PS3, but various issues have now brought it to the PS4. The game is set to release on December 6, but if you can’t wait to get a taste of what will be in the game, you can check out a good chunk of gameplay and our initial impressions right here..
