Fortnite Adds Gifting Option For A Limited Time
Fortnite is getting in the holiday spirit with a new gifting feature that is available now on every platform except iOS. Gifting came to Fortnite today as part of the 6.31 update, and it’ll be available for only one week. Epic said in a blog post that this is the “initial gifting period,” which suggests gifting will return again at some later point in the future.
With the 6.31 update, the item shop now allows you to purchase an item for yourself or “buy as a gift.” After selecting that, you can choose to send it to anyone on your friends list. You can also send a custom message. Your friend will receive the gift the next time they log in.
To use gifting, you must have multi-factor authentication enabled on your Fortnite account–you can find out how to do that here. What’s more, you need to have been friends with someone for at least 48 hours before you can send them a gift. Additionally, you’re only able to send a gift three times in a 24-hour period, while there are no refunds available on gifts. Finally, only currently available Fortnite items can be gifted.
Gifting is not available on iOS because Apple doesn’t allow it, Epic said.
In other news, Fortnite’s 6.31 update added new shotgun variants, a new limited-time mode, and more. You can get all the details in the full patch notes here.
