Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Sales Unaffected by Absent Single Player Campaign

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 topped the October 2018 NPD sales results in the United States, beating Red Dead Redemption 2 and proving that the clamours for the series’ missing single player campaign were overblown by a very vocal minority. The first-person shooter – which is currently 2018’s top-selling title in the USA – registered the eighth highest revenue in a launch month since records began back in 1995.

NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said: “The lack of a single player campaign did not hurt Black Ops 4 launch month sales in the slightest.” Fans of the set piece-laden, Hollywood-esque stories may be disappointed to see this news, but Activision may have stumbled upon a superior alternative in Blackout, which many regard as the best Battle Royale currently available on consoles.
