BFI has debuted a brand new trailer for the 4K restoration re-release of Richard Kelly’s cult classic sci-fi film Donnie Darko. It first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001, and quickly became a cult hit. The BFI is now re-releasing it in 4K in cinemas all around the UK this December. Hopefully it’ll show up in the US sometime in 2017. I wasn’t introduced to this film until I was in a sci-fi class in high school, but ever since then, I’ve been a huge fan and have often revisited it. It’s not just the soundtrack or the story, but the whole idea behind it and what it means and what’s going on. I can only imagine what it must’ve been like to see this at its Sundance premiere. Jake Gyllenhaal stars, with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, James Duval, Jena Malone, Noah Wyle and Drew Barrymore. Watch the superb new trailer below. ›››
