Watch the Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Here Today

The first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 will go live today at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. You can watch the trailer in the Rockstar embed below, and GameSpot will have a complete breakdown from our editors about what was shown and what it might mean for the direction of the sequel.

We don’t know much about Red Dead Redemption 2 at this point. A teaser shows seven different characters, but there is no word on if it will be a prequel or a sequel to Red Dead Redemption, which itself was a follow-up to Red Dead Revolver. It’s also unknown what kind of gameplay advancements over the original may be in store. The trailer may answer some of these questions.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was officially announced earlier this week after a string of teases from Rockstar Games. The initial teases helped Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive’s share price surge, though when the game–with a fall 2017 release date–was officially announced, stock value dropped.

Analyst firm Cowen & Company released a report that stated Red Dead Redemption 2 is expected to sell at least 15 million copies. By comparison, the first Red Dead Redemption sold 13 million copies, though the figure may actually be higher, as it’s only accurate as of February 2012.

Like Rockstar’s mega-hit Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2 may bring in more money beyond initial unit sales through its “brand-new online multiplayer experience.” It remains to be seen how this will work for Red Dead Redemption 2, but GTA V lets people spend real money to acquire in-game money, which can then be spent on all manner of items–and it’s been big business.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been announced for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. What are you hoping to see from the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer today? Let us know in the comments below!
