'Girls' Co-Star Andrew Rannells Writing New Comedy for Judd Apatow

Briefly: Even though Andrew Rannells has broken out due to his recurring role in the HBO series “Girls,” the actor had plenty of success as part of the original cast of the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, for which he wont a Grammy and a Tony. But now he’s taking significant roles in moves with a turn in Nancy Meyers forthcoming comedy The Intern. Though he’s keen to make his own movies too as Deadline reports  Universal has just picked up and untitled comedy pitch that Rannells will write with Mike Doyle, one of the cast members of Jersey Boys. In addition, “Girls” producer Judd Apatow will produce the film. There’s no plot details yet, but this could be Rannells’ chance for his own Trainwreck like Amy Schumer. We’ll see. ›››
