“Hey, isn’t it reassuring to have a lot of people read you?” A24 has unveiled the first official trailer for The End of the Tour, directed by James Ponsoldt starring Jason Segel as the late author David Foster Wallace, who wrote the novel Infinite Jest. The film follows Jesse Eisenberg as journalist/fellow writer David Lipsky, who spends a few weeks traveling – it takes place in the mid 90s – with David Foster Wallace at the end of his promo tour for Infinite Jest. They talk about life, writing, discussing interesting topics over cigarettes and tape recorders, and it’s a remarkable and wonderful film. It was one of the best films out of Sundance this year, and Jason Segel gives career-defining performance as DFW – read my review. See this! ›››

Glad to report some distribution news for one of the acclaimed films from the Berlin Film Festival this year. Music Box Films has announced that they will be distributing Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larrain’s latest work, titled The Club (or originally El Club), which premiered at Berlinale in February. The film is about a small “club”, or place where disgraced priests and nuns go to live in seclusion in a small Chilean town. It’s a wicked, unsettling, smart film that nearly left me (and everyone who saw it) in shock. “We’ve followed Pablo Larrain’s impressive body of work closely over the years and The Club further establishes him as one of the most masterful filmmakers in the world today. We’re excited for the opportunity to bring this dark, mordant yet compassionate film to North American audiences,” said Ed Arentz of Music Box Films. Mark this down. ›››

“There are some who do not fear death, for they are more afraid of not really living.” Warner Bros has debuted the first trailer for Ericson Core’s Point Break remake, a new take on the cult favorite action heist movie from 1991 directed by Kathryn Bigelow, that starred Keanu Reeves. This new version is much, much cheesier and doesn’t even look like it really pays homage to that film anyway. Luke Bracey plays Johnny Utah, and the guy he’s after this time is played by Edgar Ramirez. The rest of the cast includes Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, Matias Varela and Clemens Schick. I wish I could say all this extreme action looks exciting, but it’s wrapped around such cheesy dialogue, I can’t help saying this looks pretty bad. Enjoy. ›››

“We’ve gotta get out of here and fast.” It looks like we finally have some forward movement on the Jonny Quest live-action movie, which has been in development for years and years. We posted extensively back in 2007-2011 about a Jonny Quest movie, based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, with rumors of Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson teaming up for the lead roles, but nothing ever came together. Deadline is now reporting that Warner Bros has hired Robert Rodriguez to direct the movie, and he’ll also rewrite the script with Terry Rossio (of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lone Ranger), that was originally written by Dan Mazeau. No word if Dwayne Johnson is back (he seems like the better fit, in all honesty) but at least they have a director. ›››
