Welcome to Jurassic World. Colin Trevorrow’s new entry in the Jurassic Park series has broken numerous global box office records, and is still playing strong in theaters around the world. One of the better parts of the film is the score from composer Michael Giacchino, who does his best to hold his own and deliver an exciting soundtrack for the dinosaur movie. There’s no point in comparing John Williams work because he really is in a league of his own, but I’m just as impressed by the score Giacchino came up with for Jurassic World. Austin based art house Mondo is releasing a special limited vinyl pressing of Giacchino’s Jurassic World score with art by Stan & Vince. Even if you don’t really need the vinyl, the artwork is worth viewing. ›››

Watch: Official US Trailer for François Ozon's 'The New Girlfriend'
“A love story for the modern age.” Cohen Media Group has debuted the official US trailer for the upcoming release of François Ozon latest film, The New Girlfriend, starring Romain Duris, Anaïs Demoustier and Raphaël Personnaz. This first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year, and also played at the London, Stockholm, Zurich, Hong Kong, Seattle, Glasgow, and Montclair Film Festivals. The story follows a woman who discovers her late friend’s husband, played by Romain Duris (seen in The Beat That My Heart Skipped, Mood Indigo, Chinese Puzzle), likes to dress like a woman. It looks like an interesting film, almost like something from Xavier Dolan or Wong Kar Wai, with beautiful cinematography and vivid performances. ›››

Two More Stoner-Tastic Posters for Summer Comedy 'American Ultra'
“Everything is a weapon.” Awesome. One of our most anticipated upcoming summer comedies due out this August is American Ultra, starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg as stoners in a small town who suddenly end up in a secret government operation. We’ve already featured a trailer for this and it looks good, but our friends at SlashFilm have posted their recap of a set visit where they watched an action scene at strip mall with everything in it being used as a weapon. These new posters have Eisenberg and Stewart floating in kind of a Ganesh pose, with extra arms holding things like a weapon, joints, bongs, a spoon, and a hammer. I just think these look cool, nice marketing for a film that sounds like it’s going to be crazy fun. ›››

Double Dose of Tom Hardy in Trailer for Brian Helgeland's 'Legend'
“London in the 1960s – every one had a story about the Krays. They were twins.” StudioCanal UK and Universal has debuted the first trailer for Legend, a story about two twin brother gangsters from London, played by Tom Hardy. Both of ’em! Hardy plays both Ronald Kray and Reginald Kray in a slightly comedic crime story set in London. This seems like stiff competition for Black Mass, another crime saga involving a talented actor playing a legendary mobster. Also in the cast: Emily Browning, David Thewlis, Chazz Palminteri, Tara Fitzgerald, Christopher Eccleston and Taron Egerton. Maybe it’s just because I’m partial to Tom Hardy, who almost always kick ass, but this looks like a bloody good time! Can’t wait to see it. ›››

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Director Didn't Know He Was in Charge of Project
FInal Fantasy 7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura only realised he was in charge of the project when he saw his name in an internal presentation during the early stages of the project’s inception.
Speaking in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, as reported by Kotaku, Nomura recalled being approached by Square Enix executive Shinji Hashimoto about a new project.
“Mr. Hashimoto was involved with the advertising and marketing of the original, so like [Mr. Kitase and myself], VII has a strong place in his heart,” Nomura explained.
“As preproduction went along and I offered my opinions on what I thought should be done, Mr. [Yoshinori Kitase, director of the original] would ask me how the individual elements should be adjusted in fine detail. It was very perplexing.”
It wasn’t until Nomura checked an internal company presentation that he realised he was director.
This came as a shock to Nomura. He is currently busy directing Kingdom Hearts 3, which doesn’t have a release date.
“So I called up Mr. Kitase and said, ‘It says that I’m the director for some reason.’ To which he replied, ‘Of course it does’’” Nomura added.
Adam Boyes, VP of developer relations at PlayStation, revealed that the long-awaited remake of Final Fantasy VII during Sony’s E3 press conference.
A CG trailer showed Cloud and Barret walking through the slums of Midgar. It also confirmed Tetsuya Nomura would be directing the remake, with scenario writer Kazuhige Nojima and producer Yoshinori Kitase also contributing.
In an interview with GameSpot, Nomura indicated that the story in the remake might deviate from the one set out in the original, suggesting the remake may be more of a reimagining.
“We’ve announced a HD port version on the PlayStation 4, and then we have the remake coming to PS4,” Nomura said through a translator.
“You’ll have this extremely, very, very pretty FFVII existing on the same plane. We feel that if that happens, it’s like, why have the same exact game?
“We think that if a game is on a certain platform and that platform becomes obsolete, then we’d recommend playing the new port version,” he added.
