Mathieu Amalric in First Trailer for Benoît Jacquot's Film 'Never Ever'

    Never Ever Trailer

“How long have you been here?” Alfama Films has debuted an official trailer for the French drama Never Ever, adapted from Don DeLillo’s novel The Body Artist, directed by French filmmaker Benoît Jacquot. The film is playing at the Toronto Film Festival now and just premiered at the Venice Film Festival before this. Mathieu Amalric stars as a “self-centered” filmmaker who falls for a beautiful body artist performing at the same gallery where his own film is screening. He runs off with her to his mansion and starts a passionate love affair, but of course their romance doesn’t last. Also starring the lovely Julia Roy as Laura, Jeanne Balibar, Victória Guerra and Elmano Sancho. This seems like yet another French romantic film with passion and desire and beauty driving the story, though I’m curious if there is some weird, freaky twist in it. ›››

  • Watch: Jessica Chastain as a Lobbyist in First Trailer for 'Miss Sloane'

Watch: Jessica Chastain as a Lobbyist in First Trailer for 'Miss Sloane'

    Miss Sloane Movie Trailer

“How the hell did she manage that?!” EuropaCorp has unveiled the trailer for the sure-to-be-controversial new drama Miss Sloane, starring Jessica Chastain as an ambitious lobbyist. Chastain plays Elizabeth Sloane, who is brought in to help fight for legislation requiring more stringent background checks for gun ownership. Of course she encounters an absurd amount of stubborn and powerful resistance, and this trailer teases that opposition. Also starring Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alison Pill, Jake Lacy, John Lithgow, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sam Waterston & Dylan Baker. This looks very impressive, and I fully support Chastain’s character and all she is fighting for. It also makes me a bit sad, because she is obviously going to be “annihilated”. The film is likely going to play both sides equally, but still, we know. Take a look. ›››

  • The Simpsons Resurrecting Frank Grimes for Treehouse of Horror Episode

The character Frank Grimes was a rarity in The Simpsons history. He was introduced and killed off in the Season 8 episode Homer’s Enemy back in 1997. And that was that.

Now, to the delight or dismay of fans, Fox has announced that the grumpy everyman is being resurrected for an upcoming Treehouse of Horror episode.

.@TheSimpsons a reminder: as article states this appearance is only a cameo…I don’t want 2 be killed by angry fans https://t.co/4BVHlmgryo

    — Al Jean (@AlJean) September 9, 2016

Grimes, or Grimey as he liked to be called, will show up in Episode 600, according to Entertainment Weekly. He’s still angry about the stupidity of Homer and other Nuclear Power Plant employees. According to executive producer Al Jean, “He’s certainly madder at Homer than ever.”

Unfortunately (or maybe it’s for the best?), Grimes will only appear in the Treehouse of Horror episode in a cameo role as a ghost. He works with Sideshow Bob and other nefarious characters in an effort to kill members of the Simpsons family.

“They’re forming a sinister squadron of Simpsons enemies to try to kill the Simpsons,” Jean said. “If that doesn’t make people tune in, I don’t know what else we can say.”

Grimes is voiced by prolific Simpsons voice actor Hank Azaria. The character has been referenced in previous Simpsons episodes following his death, but the upcoming Treehouse of Horror episode will mark the first time he’s spoken in almost 20 years.

Season 28 of The Simpsons premieres on September 25. The season will also host the show’s first-ever hour-long episode, featuring Empire‘s Taraji Henson and comedian Keegan-Michael Key.

  • New Sea of Thieves Video Shows Off the Game's Clouds

The newest episode of Rare’s Sea of Thieves behind-the-scenes series focuses specifically on the Xbox One and PC game’s clouds.

In the video, principal technical artist Valentine Kozin talks about how Rare went about designing the game’s clouds and the challenges associated with creating “fluffy things.” Another interesting takeaway from the video is that clouds can take on numerous shapes, including that of a pirate ship or a skull. Kozin goes on to say in the video that no one else is doing what Rare is doing with regards to clouds and the end result is the “most beautiful, picturesque skies.”

This video is part of the Sea of Thieves “Tavern Talk” series in which developers at Rare talk about specific game elements. A video from last week highlighted the game’s gorgeous-looking water.

Sea of Thieves is an Xbox Play Anywhere game. That means if you buy it (digitally) on Xbox One, you will get the PC version for free and vice versa. The game comes out in 2017, though a release date has not been announced.

Microsoft has also stated that this game is the best game that Rare has ever made.

The Crew Now Free on PC, Here's How to Get It

Want something new to play on PC? Ubisoft’s racing game The Crew is now completely free through the company’s Uplay store as part of its 30th anniversary celebration.

To get the game, go to the Ubi30 webpage, click “Get Your Free Game on PC Now,” and follow the instructions to download and install the title.

Ubisoft has been giving away free games every month since June to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary since it was founded in 1986. Other freebies for previous months included Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (June), Splinter Cell (July), and Rayman Origins (August).

Three more games will be offered for free, coming in October, November, and December. October’s game will be revealed during the middle of the month. You have 30 days to claim a new title, after which it’s yours to keep forever.

Some people may have already gotten The Crew for free, as it was a part of the Games With Gold program in June.

Next up for The Crew is an expansion called Calling All Units. It lets you hit the streets as a cop or a street racer for a “police chase fantasy,” Ubisoft said when announcing it. There is a 12-mission story that introduces the police-versus-racer gameplay, featuring “fully tuned” vehicles and more.

Calling All Units comes out on November 29 for all platforms. The first expansion for The Crew, called Wild Run, came out in November 2015.

The Crew received a score of 5/10 in GameSpot’s review. Critic Peter Brown said, “When The Crew puts you into races with good AI, and you get to race through interesting and varied environments, you get the feeling that you’re playing a good game. When you struggle to find people to join your crew online, balk at the outdated graphics, and shake your head at the AI and the occasionally unpredictable physics, you realize: The Crew isn’t that good after all. When you can’t play due to server issues, you find a new game to play and leave The Crew in your dust.”

  • Destiny Not Getting PS4 Pro Patch Right Away, If Ever

Destiny Not Getting PS4 Pro Patch Right Away, If Ever

Destiny will not be among the games to receive a patch for the PlayStation 4 Pro version when the console launches in November, though it hasn’t been ruled out for the future.

In an interview with GameSpot, executive producer Scott Taylor laid out Bungie’s plans. The developer is “looking at” support for the PS4 Pro, but fans may want to get comfortable.

Here is the exchange from our interview:

GameSpot: “Are you planning on any support for PS4 Pro?”

    Scott Taylor: “No.”

GameSpot: “No? With Rise of Iron?”

Scott Taylor: “Yeah. Not for Rise of Iron. Maybe as far as the future. We have nothing to announce today, but I mean we’ll be looking at [that].”

    3111241-roi_strike_wretchedeye_3rdp_07.jpg

Though it sounds like Destiny will not receive a PS4 Pro patch right away, other Activision games will. As announced during the PlayStation Meeting last week, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare Remastered, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III are all being patched to make use of the console’s extra horsepower. It remains to be seen what the specific benefits will be, however.

You can see all the PS4 games getting PS4 Pro upgrades in this roundup.

The PS4 Pro launches on November 10, priced at $400. The console has double the GPU power of the existing model and technology adapted from AMD Polaris graphical architecture. These allow the PS4 Pro to reach resolutions “not thought possible on consoles” in 2016, according to lead system architect Mark Cerny.

On the more immediate horizon is the launch for the PS4 slim, which comes out tomorrow, September 15, priced at $300.

As for Destiny, the game’s fourth expansion, Rise of Iron, lands on September 20. The expansion’s launch trailer will debut later today, but you can watch a teaser for it right now.

  • Metal Gear Survive Will Be Part of Konami's TGS Livestream

Konami will be showing off Metal Gear Survive during its Tokyo Game Show livestream event. The game is scheduled to appear on September 17 at 4 PM JST, which is around 12 AM PT. You’ll be able to watch it on company’s YouTube page.

Further details about what will be shown have not been specified, but it’s likely members of the development team will be in attendance to discuss the game.

Metal Gear Survive was announced during Gamescom. It is a multiplayer stealth game coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2017. The spinoff is set in the same universe as Metal Gear Solid 5 and takes place after the events of Ground Zeroes.

In the aftermath of the attack on Mother Base, Militaires Sans Frontières soldiers are sucked into wormholes along with chunks of the base itself. They are transported into alternate timelines and are forced to fight for survival alongside their comrades. Players will take control of one of these soldiers and team up with others to take on what look like zombies. You can watch the first trailer for Metal Gear Survive above.

Konami has said Metal Gear Survive will not cost $60. Instead, it will be “somewhere in the vicinity” of what Ground Zeroes cost at launch, which was $30.

    — Destiny The Game (@DestinyTheGame) September 13, 2016

We’ll update this post later today when the full video premieres.

Rise of Iron comes out on September 20 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Unlike the three previous expansions, The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King, this one is not coming to last-generation consoles–and there’s a reason why.

Included with Rise of Iron is a new story campaign, a new location called “The Plaguelands,” and a new social space named “Felwinter Peak.” Also included is a new six-player raid and more Strikes. Additionally, the Gjallarhorn is coming back, while a Gjallarhorn-inspired Sparrow is also included.

In other news about Destiny, an update recently added support for private matches.

  • Spider-Man Creator Stan Lee's Life Is Being Turned into an Action Movie–Report

Spider-Man Creator Stan Lee's Life Is Being Turned into an Action Movie–Report

Stan Lee’s cameos are a regular part of Marvel movies, but the comic book legend could be heading to the big screen in a very different form. It has been reported that the rights to Lee’s life story have been bought for a potential action movie.

    3129124-stan-lee.jpg

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee has sold his life rights to Fox, who produce the big screen version of the X-Men and The Fantastic Four. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who have previously produced movies such as Twilight, The Maze Runner, and the upcoming Power Rangers, are overseeing the project.

The site reports that rather than turn Lee’s life story into a straight biopic, the studio is looking to adapt it into a period action adventure, with the tone of Kingsman: The Secret Service or “Roger Moore’s 007.”

Lee’s first break in the comics industry came in 1961, when he co-created the Fantastic Four with artist Jack Kirby, after years of struggling as a writer for a variety of publishers. In the following years he helped create such as now-legendary superheroes as Spider-Man, Hulk, the X-Men, and Iron Man.

As the THR notes, no writer has yet been hired to develop the movie.

  • Pokemon Go "Likely" to Be Released for Android Wear Devices

Following the announcement that Pokemon Go will support Apple Watch, developer Niantic Labs has said it is “pretty likely” the game will also be available for Android Wear devices in the future.

Speaking to Tech Crunch, John Hanke, Niantic’s chief executive, said the studio’s goal is to “evangelize this whole concept of playing games outside, real world games.” Supporting as many devices as possible, it seems, is a key part of this goal.

“[We think Apple Watch] is a great vehicle for that,” he said. “As other devices come on the market–if those are Android Wear devices or if they are devices from other quadrants that are interesting for gameplay and mobility, and being active–we’ll look into supporting those too.”

Asked specifically about Pokemon Go being released for Android Wear, Hanke added,”I think it’s pretty likely.”

Pokemon Go for Apple Watch was announced on September 8. Using the device players can see how far they need to walk to hatch eggs, how much more XP you need to level up, and nearby Pokemon. Unfortunately, you’ll still have to get out your phone to catch Pokemon.

During Apple’s iPhone 7 reveal event, Niantic confirmed Pokemon Go has been downloaded more than 500 million times around the world. Additionally, players have walked more than 4.6 billion kilometers while playing.
