GTA Online: Arena War Out Now

Welcome to a new era of entertainment. Time to sit down, strap in, and battle other would-be opponents in the greatest mash-up of sports and automotive gladiatorial combat in human history.

The most deranged vehicles! The most brutal weapons! The biggest crowds!

Run your own workshop, craft your own juggernauts of destruction, and track your own carnage-filled career. Live from the Maze Bank Arena, this is Arena War.

    7 Arena Events

You signed up for glory, and it’s showtime. Step into destruction derbies, rain fire from strategically placed artillery and wreak havoc from the Spectator Box with EMP Drones, self-destructing RC Cars and much, much more.

    Arena Workshop and Career

While the Arena War Series is open to anyone with a dream and a death wish, those that are serious about a career in automotive violence can invest in an Arena Workshop to begin customizing their own fleet of death machines.

After purchasing your Workshop from the new ArenaWar.tv website, an onsite mechanized warfare specialist can help you strip down and supe up an assortment of vehicles. From fitting steel-shredding Buzz Saws to pelvis-shattering Ram Bars, create a chariot fit for battle and lay waste to any unfortunate bastard foolish enough to get in your way.

Head to the Career Wall in the Arena Workshop office to keep track of your progress. In addition to cash & RP, every Arena event you complete awards Arena Points based on your performance. The more AP you earn, the more rewards you’ll unlock such as discounts on specialty attire & Outfits, upgrades, modifications and more. You’ll also earn awards and trophies to adorn your trophy case as you progress through your career.

    Introducing the Arena Contenders

Head to the ArenaWar.tv website in-game to browse listings for all 12 new Arena Contender Vehicles, each available in Future Shock, Apocalypse and Nightmare styles. Some are ready to go as soon as they’re delivered; some start life as humble road cars, with arena workshop upgrade options that’ll have them ready to burn in no time.

  • The 5 Stages of Overcooked During the Holidays

The holidays are upon us and we’re full of yuletide joy here at Ghost Town Games (Oli’s had his tree up since November). This year we’re thrilled to bring you a little present; just keep your eyes peeled on our social channels in the coming days for all the sweet details!

To help celebrate the occasion, we present to you the 5 stages of Overcooked during the holidays:

    Denial

Yes, the Mince Pies may be on fire, and the fire extinguisher might have just slipped into the frozen lake, but there’s still plenty of time left on the timer for you and your team to pull together and serve those hungry customers!

    Anger

Minor crisis averted, time to cook up a new batch of mince pies… only Auntie Linda seems to be cooking up some Hot cocoa, which nobody ordered, Uncle Simon hasn’t washed a single dish like he said he would, and little Cousin Timmy is currently spinning round in circle holding the fire extinguisher @#*%*$!!!!

    Bargaining

OK, OK, things maybe things got a little heated just now, but it’s fine, there’s still time on the clock, how’s this for a deal… If everyone just sticks to the plan and we all manage to somehow get through this level, I’ll reward us all with a nice round of tea?

    Sadness

Forget it. Just forget it. The Christmas Pudding is burnt to a crisp, the hot cocoa has boiled over, there’s marshmallows everywhere and no-one seems to have any clue what happened to the can of whipped cream… although Cousin Timmy is looking quite guilty.

    Acceptance

Well, maybe things didn’t go quite to plan. Sure, there were a few minor fires, a few people maybe got nudged into the water and maybe some strong words were said in haste. But we learned a lot amidst all the chaos, so perhaps it’s time for a quick regroup, a slight tweak to our strategy and then we hit the retry button.

    Merry Christmas everyone,

    Ghost Town Games

Inside Xbox One X Enhanced: Ashen

Many of gaming’s most compelling stories come from those who’ve helped to create our favorite Xbox One games. In our Inside Xbox One X Enhanced series, these creators will share the behind-the-scenes accounts of the work involved in enhancing these epic games for Xbox One X, how they’ve helped chart the course of the world’s most powerful console, and what that means for the future of gaming. Today, we’ll be chatting with Character & Animation Lead Simon Dasan and Lead Designer Mike Vermeulen on Ashen at A44 about enhancing Ashen for Xbox One X.

What specifically is your development team doing to enhance Ashen for Xbox One X

The A44 team aimed to create a deeply immersive world for players to get sucked into. The Xbox One X’s ability to render at 4k, allowed us to truly realize this vision for Ashen.

How do these enhancements impact the gaming experience?

Our stylized world is one where the 4k enhancement really draws you in and breathes an entirely new layer of fidelity onto the world. Developing Ashen for Xbox One X meant that we didn’t need to make any compromises to the original vision and really enhance the overall experience.

    Ashen Screenshot

    Ashen Screenshot

Why did your development team choose to focus on these enhancement areas?

At A44 we strive in every way to excel when it comes to quality. Getting access to the Xbox One X hardware allowed us to push forward on enhanced particle effects, view distances and of course, 4k.

How do you expect fans of Ashen will respond to seeing/playing it on Xbox One X with these enhancements?

We hope they’re as excited to play Ashen on Xbox One X as we were to develop for it. We have worked incredibly hard on every aspect of the game, so we can’t wait to see it in the hands of players everywhere.

How has the process been to get the game up and running on Xbox One X?

To put it simply; it was incredibly easy. We had the game running on the hardware the first week we received it, so we could see early on in development what the console is capable of. Because of this, we were able to start utilizing the power and potential very quickly to ensure players would experience Ashen at its best.

    Ashen Screenshot

    Ashen Screenshot

What enhancement were you most excited about to explore leveraging for Ashen on Xbox One X?

Definitely the ability to render in true 4k. It’s one of those ‘you need to see it to believe it’ things, and Ashen’s painterly art-style translates over to 4k in a stunning way.

What does 4K for your game, games in the future and development at your studio?

With the stylized nature of Ashen, we’re super excited to be able to double down on our ability to render beautiful art in true 4k. Whenever someone is playing the build on an Xbox One X, a crowd forms. We’ve already got ideas percolating for the future, so watch this space!

  • Demolish Your Opponents’ Cars During The Crew 2 Free Weekend

If the idea of crunching your opponents’ cars while racing through an aircraft cemetery appeals to you, then the first free weekend for The Crew 2 on Xbox One is the place to be. Hot on the heels of the free Demolition Derby update, which added new destructible cars, new special events, a competitive new PvP mode, and more, The Crew 2 will be free to download and play for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One from December 13 at 12:01 a.m. PDT through December 17 at 9 p.m. PDT.

You can also take advantage of big discounts—including up 67% off the Standard & Deluxe versions of the game from December 13 through December 20, and those who play during the free weekend will be rewarded in-game with a free Xbox-exclusive BMW Z4 GT3 (2011) once the weekend has concluded. Not a bad memento for busting up your demolition derby car.

With a new physics and collision system in place, the newly added Demolition Derby cars bring destructibility to The Crew 2 for the first time. Whether you’re smashing your way to victory in an actual demolition derby on the new Bonneville Salt Flats arena, or shunting your opponents off the track as you race through the Tucson aircraft cemetery, you’ll see the consequences of your crashes manifest in a whole new way. The demolition derby cars are equally destructible in free drive, so no matter where you roam, you’ll have the scratches, dings, and missing rear quarter-panels to show for it.

Demolition Derby’s competitive spirit thrives in the new PvP mode (requires Xbox Live Gold), which introduces two new playlists for up to eight players to compete in. As you test your skills against other racers, the competitions give you a chance to take a variety of vehicles out for a spin, even if you haven’t unlocked them for your personal collection.

There are more than a dozen vehicle types available for you to collect and pilot around the huge open world of The Crew 2. From racing powerboats on pristine alpine lakes to buzzing silos in stunt planes, The Crew 2 gives you the freedom to explore the American landscape by land, water, and air. You may prefer to practice drifting in downtown Miami by yourself, but when you want to hovercraft through the bayou alongside some newfound friends, or just see how you stack up on the supercar leaderboards, The Crew 2 makes it easy to connect with other players and share the experience through Xbox Live Gold.

The Crew 2 regularly adds updates of all sizes, from introducing new disciplines and special events to bringing free new cars (Bugatti, anyone?) for players to take for a ride. The Demolition Derby update added over 20 new activities in the Drift, Alpha Grand Prix, and Rally Cross disciplines, and a new holiday-themed episode of the Live Xtrem Series challenges you to a seamless three-part race through the Rally Raid, Street Race, and Power Boat disciplines.

Play The Crew 2 for free on Xbox One from December 13-17, and if you get a hankering for more, pick up the full game for a discounted price during the December 13-20 sale and continue your free-wheeling adventures after the free weekend event.
