The best gaming headsets for Fortnite

These days, you can’t really look anywhere without seeing Fortnite – it’s a genuine phenomenon, with seemingly everyone getting in on the action. But, because it’s an online game, having one of the best gaming headsets is absolutely necessary.

Having a great headset isn’t just about being able to hear the game – though that’s definitely a benefit – but, having directional audio can give you a heads up on the competition in Fortnite. Plus, being able to communicate with your friends is definitely helpful.

Whether you’re looking for an affordable headset, to get someone started on a budget, or you’re looking for an amazing, high-end headset that will make those intense showdowns even more visceral, we’ve found the best headsets for Fortnite fans.

And, we’re aware the Fortnite is one of the best free games out there, so we made sure to take budget in mind — we’ve got you covered from different price points.

    Corsair HS50 Stereo Gaming Headset

Often, when you go for a budget gaming headset, especially one that’s costs less than your standard videogame, you have to brace yourself for a less-than-stellar experience. Either it’s going to sound bad, it’s going to fall apart after a week, or the mic is going to make you sound like you play your games inside a washing machine. But, the Corsair HS50 is a budget headset with none of the downsides.

Now, don’t get us wrong, you’re not going to get a world-class surround sound experience with vibrating earcups (that one is a couple entries down), but you are getting a solid stereo gaming headset that works across several platforms. It sounds as good as it needs to sound, and it’s comfortable to boot. What more could you ask for?

    Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless

When you’re trying to be the last person standing in a match of Fortnite, you need to be aware of what’s happening around you – that means you’ll want surround sound. Luckily, the Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless headset offers just that and looks good to boot.

With 50mm drivers and Dolby Headphone 7.1 audio, every match is going to come alive, and you’ll be able to track where your opponents are coming from just by listening. And, with RGB lighting and its beautiful finish, the Corsair Void Pro RGB looks stunning. Sure, it’s a hundred bucks, but we think it’s worth the price of admission.

Here at TechRadar, we’ve used dozens – maybe even hundreds – of gaming headsets in our time, and none have held our attention quite like the Razer Nari Ultimate. Rather than just being a gaming headset with awesome sound and 8 hours of battery life, this headset features HyperSense haptic feedback technology – it’s a headset that freaking vibrates.

We can tell you that there isn’t a more immersive way to play Fortnite than to have your ears buzzing with every single gunshot. Explosions will set off a cacophony of vibrations that will make you feel like you’re smack in the middle of the action.

The best part? The Razer Nari Ultimate is compatible with a wide range of different platforms. So, no matter whether you’re playing Fortnite on PC, PS4, Xbox One or even your smartphone, you can get a visceral, immersive experience with the Razer Nari Ultimate.

  • Pokemon Go update: all the news and rumors for what's coming next

Pokemon Go update: all the news and rumors for what's coming next

Pokemon Go: the world’s first augmented reality app to become a household name. Niantic’s mobile AR game is still going strong two years after it first released, with a constant drip of events and updates keeping budding trainers glued to their phones and pounding the streets.

And while it hasn’t managed to top the peak of its popularity in 2016, it’s still going strong and finding plenty of new ways to improve its player experience.

So what’s the latest news for Pokemon Go? As you’d expect, brand new features are being added all the time – with Team Battles recently released and Let’s Go: Pikachu and Eevee for Nintendo Switch likely to tie in to the mobile AR game in numerous ways.

So without further ado, here’s our guide to all the new updates, rumors and tweaks promised by Niantic so far.

[Update: Trainer Battles PvP mode is now live in Pokémon Go.]

    Latest Pokemon Go updates

Pokémon Go finally has a player-versus-player (PvP) mode called Trainer Battles.

Trainer Battles allow you to participate in real-time Pokémon battles with other players and Pokémon Go team leaders.

To compete in Trainer Battles you need to create a custom Battle Party, made up of three Pokémon. This will then be your party to challenge other players and team leaders.

You can invite nearby players to participate in friendly Trainer battles through the battle code invitation system, which sees you scanning another player’s unique battle code – or vice versa. There’s also an option to partake in remote battles, but you can only invite someone to a remote battle if your in-game friendship has reached the ultra friends level or higher.

Trainer Battles also introduces a new charge attack for your Pokemon and a protect shield to defend against powerful attacks. After a Trainer Battle finishes, both players will receive a prize, as well as a chance of getting rare evolution items.

To keep players from becoming frustrated, a maximum cap has also been placed on participating Pokémon’s strength – so you can’t necessarily use your strongest.

Back in September a furore around Pokemon Go happened around a suspiciously unfamiliar ‘hex nut’ shaped Pokemon that appeared at a community Pokemon Go event in Japan, named simply ‘???’. Nintendo’s official Pokemon Twitter account followed up with a short video announcing the new Pokemon as ‘Meltan’ – ending with a reference to the Let’s Go games and possibly hinting at a crossover event in the future.

    Pokemon Go update news

But one of the most awaited updates finally came to Pokemon Go earlier this summer – one that now lets players trade within the Pokemon Go app.

Along with the introduction of a Friends system, you’ll now be able benefit from having real-world pals, offering each other gifts, or making swaps on unwanted items.

Just making use of the trading system alone bags you free Candy for attracting the pocketable beasties, as well, of course giving you the opportunity to trade for rare and sought-after Pokemon.

However, it seems it’s a feature for more hardcore players to begin with – you’ll only be able to trade if you’re between levels 30 and 40, so you’re going to have to put some hours in first before becoming a wheeling-and-dealing Pokemon trader.

Recently, Pokemon Go also began to enter the latest generation with the addition of some Alolan Pokemon. It won’t be brand new Alolan Pokemon you’ll see, but instead Niantic has announced that players will see the Alolan forms of some Kanto Pokemon – recently the likes of Diglett and Geodude.

    Pokemon Go update news

When’s the next Pokemon Go event?

It’s been a bumper summer for Niantic, with a city-wide Safari Zone hitting Dortmund, Germany that then moved on to Chicago’s Lincoln Park.

Of course it’s not always possible to get to these locations, so Niantic has promised that players across the world will still have the chance to take part in its live events via a range of challenges and activities.

The last community day was held from November 30 to December 2. The date of the next one has not been announced yet.

    Pokémon Go update: what’s next?

Trainer Battles has just released, but we don’t know what is on the horizon next for Pokemon Go.

  • Razer’s new spin on its virtual currency lets you use your graphics card to mine for rewards

Razer has revamped its cyber currency and rewards system, introducing a new way of earning virtual credits – by using your GPU for crypto-mining.

As you may recall, Razer launched its virtual currency in March 2017, but it has now rebranded zGold and zSilver as simply Razer Gold and Razer Silver. Although their function will stay the same, with Gold remaining the actual currency you can spend at stores (like GamersGate, for example, or Razer’s own store), and Silver being a system of loyalty points you can accrue to exchange for various rewards.

The big news is that when it comes to earning Silver, it’s now possible to rack up credits using Razer SoftMiner, a Windows application (compatible with Windows 7, 8, and 10) which taps into the PC’s graphics card, using any idle downtime for a spot of blockchain mining.

    Manic Miner

The longer you leave SoftMiner running, and the more powerful your GPU, the more Razer Silver you will accumulate.

All you have to do is install the software – which is currently in beta, mind you – and fire it up. The company observes: “For the best mining experience, switch on Auto Mode and mine with an unlimited internet connection.”

The minimum recommended graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 460. Bear in mind that this activity will slow your PC down to some extent, of course – and it will also use extra electricity.

Also worth noting is that if you are one of the first 5,000 users to install and sign up for SoftMiner, you’ll get 1,000 bonus Razer Silver.

The company also announced the return of its ‘Paid to Play’ scheme on Razer Cortex, whereby folks can earn Razer Silver simply by playing games. Cortex is also available on mobiles, so you could rack up credits while gaming on the move, as well as on your PC, to spend on goodies like Razer’s keyboards and mice.

  • Fortnite Creative mode launches today for all players – here's why you should care

Fortnite Creative mode launches today for all players – here's why you should care

Fortnite Creative Mode is available to the public today, after a week-long closed beta to test out the new crafting tools being offered to players in Fortnite Season 7.

The previous week has seen growing curiosity in the potential of Fortnite’s budding forge mode, which allows players to create and design their own ‘islands’ with a variety of creation tools.

The beta was originally limited to players with a Season 7 Battle Pass, though it’s now opening up to any and everyone playing the cartoonish shooting / crafting game.

Crafting and building has always been part of Fortnite’s DNA, with the ability to build structures out of crafting materials mid-game – for cover or navigation – proving a crucial part of any player’s battle royale strategy.

Creative Mode takes this to its natural conclusion, with a ‘Private Island’ players can shape and populate with buildings, furniture, and obstacles, and have a crack at somewhere to either trade bullets or just share your creative output. Double-tapping the jump button will also let your character fly freely around the level to appreciate in all its glory.

    Fortnite battle royale season 7

Fortnite Season 7 goes festive for the holiday season

There are limits to how much you can build in one area, but once you’ve made something your happy with, up to 16 friends can join you in the fray for a variety of match types, or just let them wander and tweak your designs.

Islands can then be shared with the wider community, or submitted for consideration in the main Fortnite Battle Royale map, in a 25×25 tile area known as ‘The Block’.

Beginning to look a lot like Minecraft

Fortnite gets a lot of updates, with a new Season launching every 10 weeks and numerous smaller changes and tweaks paced throughout that period. Creative Mode, however, is essentially a whole new gameplay experience.

Fortnite very much has its own identity, and has managed to become the definitive battle royale experience, despite determined opposition from PUBG (PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds), which is where the current trend for 100-player free-for-all matches really started.

But the Creative Mode seems to take inspiration from another source. Minecraft, the equally massive sandbox game led entirely by the pull of user-generated content, where players can build and craft to their heart’s content.

Creative Mode as it stands is basically a blueprint, and could well develop into a serious rival to Minecraft if done right.

Fortnite certainly has the infrastructure – and the solid 125 million player base – to make Creative Mode a force to contend with.

  • Epic is working towards normalizing Fortnite-style cross-platform multiplayer

While it’s not the only factor driving Fortnite’s worldwide success, the battle royale game’s cross-platform multiplayer is a big part of what keeps the hundreds of millions of players coming back for more. Whether you’re on desktop, mobile, or console, you can all get in on the same action and duke it out.

Epic Games, the developer behind the smash hit, has announced that it will be rolling out its multi-platform architecture in a free SDK (Software Developer Kit) over the course of 2019. This will mean that developers of other titles will be able to utilize the same technology to give their online games cross-platform support.

“Throughout 2019, we’ll be launching a large set of cross-platform game services originally built for Fortnite, and battle-tested with 200,000,000 players across 7 platforms,” said the announcement. “These services will be free for all developers, and will be open to all engines, all platforms, and all stores.”

    Roadmap

The announcement was made on the Unreal Engine site, the game engine that Fortnite is built on, and includes a roadmap of how each of the SDK’s features will slowly roll out over the course of the year.

Beginning with the core functionality landing some time in the second-to-third quarter of 2019, additional features such as cross-platform voice chat, matchmaking and cloud-saving will continue to be released throughout 2019.

Support for cross-platform multiplayer has been growing in the industry at large, with Sony finally budging on its steadfast position against it due to pressure from Epic Games and Bethesda.

The news comes a mere week after Epic Games announced its own digital games store to rival the likes of Steam, which plans to offer its users exclusive titles and free games each week.

  • Fortnite Battle Royale: Season 7 gets festive

Fortnite Battle Royale: Season 7 gets festive

‘Tis the season for giving, and Epic Games are celebrating the festive season with a brand new era of Fortnite: Season 7.

As sad as we are to see the back of the spooky Season 6, the new Christmas-themed Fortnite Season 7 herald the arrival of more ziplins, icebergs, gun-wielding snowmen, and Stormwing planes than they can shake a sugar cane at. Less ‘frights and delights’, more ‘chills and thrills’.

Not to mention a new Minecraft-esque ‘Creative Mode’ to allow players to properly craft islands of their own…

And it looks like this gift won’t be just for Christmas. According to a blog post on the Fortnite website: “The Epic Games team will be taking its own holiday break this winter, so Season 7 will be extended by two weeks and end on February 28.” Given the usual breakneck pace of Fortnite updates – and the work that must have gone into launching the new Epic Games Store – that’s fine by us.

It’s no exaggeration Fortnite Battle Royale has become certified gaming phenomenon. Pitting 100 players against each other on a single map, it melds fun, cartoonish gameplay with a fierce competitive streak, and has attracted millions of players across the globe across all ages and demographics.

When starting up, you’re thrown onto an island with no weapons or armor and you must scavenge for supplies and fight for your life to be the last man or squad standing at the end of the game – with the added pressure of a shrinking map that closes in as the match progresses, forcing players into tighter skirmishes.

The game is available for free on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, with in-game purchases limited to purely cosmetic options. But with Epic Games actively updating the game throughout the year, we’re keeping track of all the most important patches and changes to come to the game: read on for all the details.

What’s the latest new Fortnite update? Season 7 chills and thrills

Fortnite have kicked off Season 7 with a host of new map changes and skins to celebrate the holiday season.

There’s a whole new map area called Frosty Flights, with ice mountains, ziplines, and four-person Stormwing planes all adding some pleasing verticality to gameplay. There’s also a new ‘wrapping’ feature to customize the look of in-game weapons and vehicles on-the-go, meaning your skin and you rifle should never have to clash.

Only days after Epic Games pulled its long-running Infinity Blade mobile game series from the iOS App Store, the Season 7 announcement showed off a tie-in Infinity Blade weapon that could be found somewhere around Polar Peak. And it looks… pretty powerful. Given Fortnite players on Xbox have also now got mouse and keyboard support, it’s clear we’re being given a lot of fun new toys to play with.

Save The World will be wrapping up its current campaign, with a climactic finale against the ‘Storm King’. Whether or not you usually bother with the campaign mode, players who defeat the Storm King by January 1 (11.59 EST) will be sent a real-world commemorative pin in the post as a reward.

    Fortnite X-4 Stormwing plane

    Fortnite’s X-4 Stormwing plane

There’s also a scrappy-sounding LTM (limited time mode) called Close Encounters, which only allows shotgun weapons and a lot of shotgun action. It’s uncertain wether anything can beat last season’s ‘Disco Domination’ LTM – which requires players to emote their way to victory on a throwback disco dancefloor – for sheer ingenuity, but we’re willing to try it out.

Season 6 was a hard act to follow with its spooky atmosphere, invisibility items, and dancing LTMs. But Fortnite never fails to outdo itself.

You can pore through the smaller bullet points and stat changes at Epic’s full patch notes here.

    What’s coming up in Fortnite?

Fortnite is a game that undergoes frequent updates. Week-by-week you can expect to see patches which either squash bugs or make small changes to gameplay that improve the overall game experience.

Season 7 has barely begun, though with its extended duration (until February 28) and promised updates, we’re sure to get a host of fun new content while it lasts – especially in the days around Christmas itself. Maybe some free V-Bucks for anyone playing Christmas morning?

    Llama on a Christmas tree

A llama on a Christmas tree

This week, the newly-announced Creative Mode will open to the public, after a brief closed beta with a handful of cherry-picked Fortnite Creators. It looks like it could open up a whole new chapter in Fortnite’s history – and possibly even overshadow or replace the still-running Playground Mode , which lets up to four players hone their skills together in a less pressured environment.

Playground Mode relaunched in July with an aim assist feature for new players, increased ammo and supply drops, and the ability to swap teams in game for fluid play – but will it be long for this world?

One thing certainly on the cards is more Limited Time Modes (LTM) like Close Encounters or Steady Storm, which offer new twists on the classic Battle Royale experience for those used to the usual formula.

Epic will also be continuing its recent in-game tournament mode for players minded towards more professionally competitive play. The competitions will run for several days and track the number of points players accrue in the dedicated mode, rewarding the top performers with commemorative ‘pins’ and the chance to take part in tougher matches – or maybe even take their first steps towards cash-prize matches?

Can I play Fortnite on mobile?

Yes you can! Well, maybe. After months of waiting, Fortnite is finally on both iOS and Android, though you’ll need a phone that can actually run the game.

iOS users can download straight from the App Store. As long as you’re using iOS 11 on iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, iPad Pro devices or later you’ll be fine. Oh, and you’ll need an internet connection, naturally.

Fortnite also hit Android phones this summer, and finally came out of beta in October. You can see the full list of phones – and how to find the Fortnite Installer – on our Fortnite on Android page.

    Is it the full game?

It is the full Fortnite game. There are some small differences: it’s not quite as visually impressive as it is on more powerful devices, the controls are touchscreen, and a lot of audio cues have been made visual so you can play comfortably in public without the need for headphones. But you won’t be missing out on any key features.

    Fortnite update patch notes

    What’s the deal with cross-play?

A sweet deal is what it is. While previously Xbox One and PS4 owners couldn’t play the game together, Sony’s U-turn on the matter means that now everyone across Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android can all take part in the crossfire.

So if you’ve got friends that prefer PC, others that prefer console and you’re off on holiday with your mobile, that’s no reason for the fun to stop.

There’s also cross-progression. So, if you’re logged into your Fortnite account on mobile and you later log into your console to play there, everything you did on mobile later that day is carried over.

Sounds great, how do I get it?

We have a guide on how to get Fortnite on mobile on TechRadar and we’re constantly updating it with the latest rollout news. If your device isn’t there yet, keep checking back and one day it probably will be.

    What’s a Battle Pass?

The Battle Pass is a purchasable item in Fortnite that gives you access to exclusive in-game rewards.

As players complete daily challenges and level up their rank, they earn Battle Stars which can then be used to unlock Tiers in their Battle Pass. Each new Tier you unlock will bring both Free and Premium rewards. The Tiers vary from season to season but in season three you get around 100 items in each Battle Pass which can take anywhere between 75 and 150 hours of play to unlock.

    Fortnite update patch notes

Everyone that has a Battle Pass will get the Free reward they unlock, but only Premium Pass holders will get the Premium reward. Battle Pass Premium can only be purchased with in-game V bucks and not with real money.

You can purchase a Battle Pass for around £7/$10 in the Battle Pass tab of the game’s menu.

    Twitch Prime benefits

Those who use Twitch Prime and play Fortnite will be glad to know that they have access to free loot right now. Those with a Prime account can claim the Fortnite Twitch Prime Pack  and the Fortnite Twitch Prime Pack 2 which include a host of cosmetic items and are available across all platforms.

The first pack includes two exclusive gliders and outfits: the Havoc Outfit and Back Bling, plus the Sub Commander Outfit and Slipstream Glider.  The second pack contains three exclusive items for Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode including the camouflage-heavy Trailblazer Outfit, the True North Back Bling, and the Tenderizer Pickaxe. There’s also a brand new dance emote for those that like the dance floor as much as the battleground.

The packs can only be claimed on a single platform, but they can be shared across PC/console and mobile as long as you use the same Epic account across these platforms. You can’t however, share your loot across PS4 and Xbox One even if you are using the same Epic account.

  • Should you buy a Nintendo Switch console this Christmas?

Should you buy a Nintendo Switch console this Christmas?

The Nintendo Switch, for the second year running, is the must-have console this Christmas season. After a few shakey home console years with the Wii U, Nintendo came back swinging with a transforming format that was at home in your living room as it was in your bag for on-the-go play.

But while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have been around the block and had their prices (and revised console builds) reflect that, Nintendo’s gear – as ever with the produce from the Mario House – has retained its premium pricing. And so, it’s one to think long and hard about before adding to your Christmas wishlist.

As ever, TechRadar is here to help. Thinking of jumping off the fence and diving into the world of Nintendo Switch? Here are the key arguments for and against Nintendo’s mighty console.

For: why you SHOULD buy a Nintendo Switch

Its library of games is fantastic

Consoles always get off to a slow start when they’re new. A few key exclusives here, a smattering of third party developers testing the waters here. But the Nintendo Switch is now in rude health when it comes to its games offering.

You’ve now got generational classics like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sitting next to brand new must-haves like Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Then you’ve got cross-platform smash-hits like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the superb Diablo 3, along with indie hits like Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Golf Story and Stardew Valley.  We’ve talked in the past about the Nintendo Switch being the perfect “second console” for a home after a PS4 or Xbox One, but with a line-up like that now, it could very well deserve to be your primary machine.

It’s the best console for local cooperative and competitive multiplayer play

Since the days of the multi-tap and four-ported N64 console, Nintendo has always been very supportive of local multiplayer, and that tradition continues with the Nintendo Switch. Packed in with two controllers (each half of the motion-sensing Joy-Cons can act as its own individual pad), out of the box you’re ready to play. The fact that you can set it up with its onboard screen and kickstand mean that you can huddle around and play no matter where you are – and keep from annoying mum and dad on the big telly. It’s commitment to multiplayer titles is also key here though, with many supporting as many as eight local players at once, including the smashing Smash Bros. From Mario Party to Mario Kart to Overcooked 2 to Snipperclips, there are loads of ways to enjoy Nintendo Switch fun with a friend.

The Nintendo Switch is a perfect travel companion

The first of its kind, the Nintendo Switch can be docked with a bigscreen TV for living room play, or taking out as a handheld console with controllers attached to either side of its main unit screen, ready to be run off of batteries. As mentioned earlier, there’s even a kickstand so you can gather around with friends when no other screen is available. With so many of us travelling long distances to see loved ones over the Christmas period, this makes the Nintendo Switch perfectly suited for car, train or airplane trips, giving you the option to bring console quality play on the go with you.

    Great games on the horizon

It’s been a big year for the Nintendo Switch, but 2019 could be the year when the console truly comes into its own. We’re waiting on the releases of hotly anticipated titles like Metroid Prime 4, a fully-fledged all new Pokemon game, Luigi’s Mansion 3, a new Yoshi platformer, Doom Eternal and a new Animal Crossing game. Things can only get better from here on in.

Against: why you SHOULDN’T buy a Nintendo Switch

It could be cheaper after Christmas

However, with all the positives up top said and done, the Nintendo Switch is still a relatively pricey console for its age. Black Friday came and went without a killer price-cut or bundle deal, with the Switch’s price more-or-less staying the same in the run up to Christmas as it has in the entire 12 months preceding it. Could this change in the New Year? Post-Christmas sales can be a good time to pick up discounted items for those that can wait, and we’re getting to the point where a thorough price drop (or more generous bundle deals) will be needed to coax in gamers who aren’t Nintendo-fanatic early adopters.

Nintendo Switch Online service still needs refinement

Nintendo has never been all that great at online play, and the Nintendo Switch Online Service still leaves us wanting. While it’s affordable compared to the competition and its included library of classic old school NES games is fun, it lacks the polish of Sony’s PS Plus or Microsoft’s Xbox Live. It’s still too tricky to add and find friends, there’s no onboard console chat, and Nintendo’s own first party must-have online brawler, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has courted controversy for the way it handles certain online play elements.

There could be a Nintendo Switch 2 on the way

This is still all whispers and hear-say, but rumor has it we could be seeing a new Nintendo Switch, even a Nintendo Switch 2, on the way before long. A Wall Street Journal report back in October stated that the company was planning a rejigged Switch that would make use of a higher-quality LCD screen that would not only look better and brighter than what’s currently on offer, but deliver improved battery life too. Existing peripherals are expected to work with the revised machine, with some slight hardware improvements and potential new software features.

Of course, it’s a rumor at this stage, with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé stating the focus is on the current generation of hardware. But, with units to shift he would say that, right? And, if you look at the Nintendo Switch in the light of Nintendo’s previous handheld hardware, from the Gameboy to the 3DS each machine has had regular hardware reworkings. It may not come soon, but we’d put money on the fact this will be on the way before very long at all.

Fallout 76 has seen a big new update delivered to PC players (with the patch for the consoles expected to arrive tomorrow), and it brings a bunch of previously promised goodies including the ability to adjust ‘field of view’ and support for ultra-wide monitors.

Yes, with update 1.03.10 (which is around a 3GB download), PC gamers will benefit from a field of view (FOV) slider, which can be used to adjust the in-game view to take in a wider panorama (up to a maximum of 120 degrees). There’s also a depth of view slider that can be used to further customize your view of the world of Fallout 76.

Better still for those with an ultra-wide monitor, the game now supports these 21:9 aspect ratio displays (which give you a genuinely wider field of view at the hardware level, compared to a normal 16:9 widescreen).

All this is good to see, although of course, ideally it should have been in the game to start with.

    Chat change

Those playing on the PC also get a push-to-talk hot-key to facilitate voice chat (set to Caps Lock by default), and work has been done to improve Fallout 76’s overall performance levels, and the stability of the client, as well as further stability work server-side. The game should run more smoothly and streamlined all round, then, or at least that’s the theory.

And naturally Bethesda has been playing around with the game mechanics and making various tweaks for balancing issues – check out the full list of changes here, and note there are a fair old few. Grab the update via the Bethesda Launcher.

In other recent Fallout 76 news, the game has been accused of making it too easy for hackers to cheat and mess with other players, an allegation which Bethesda was swift to speak out against.
