Jay Duplass & Linas Phillips Star in 'Manson Family Vacation' Trailer

    Manson Family Vacation

“There’s some really cool pictures of dead people!” The Orchard has debuted a trailer for the offbeat indie comedy Manson Family Vacation, about two estranged brothers who go on a weird trip together to visit the infamous Manson Family murder sites. Jay Duplass stars as one of the brothers, with Linas Phillips (Bass Ackwards) as the other. The synopsis describes it as a story about two brothers: “one who’s devoted to his family; the other who’s obsessed with The Manson Family.” The film’s cast also features Tobin Bell, Leonora Pitts and Davie-Blue. This is such an awkward comedy, I can see why they’re sending it straight to VOD, definitely not for everyone. Not sure who it’s for, but some may find some fun in this. Have at it. ›››

Editorial: Why the 'Star Wars' Spin-Offs Should Avoid the Origin Story

    Star Wars Spin-Offs

The Star Wars universe has untapped cinematic potential. Even though we’ve already seen six Star Wars films and a seventh is on the way, Lucasfilm has barely scratched the surface of the expansive universe that exists within the Star Wars mythology. This is undoubtedly why many are very excited for the first spin-off movie in the Star Wars pantheon, Rogue One (subtitled “A Star Wars Story“). The film aims to explore a ragtag group of Rebels and their attempt to steal the Death Star plans, acting as a prequel to A New Hope. However, even though Rogue One is a prequel, it’s not necessarily an origin story. It’s not about any one particular individual or how they came to be – and it’s all the more better for it. With that said, let’s explore why the upcoming Star Wars spin-offs should avoid the origin story approach altogether. ›››

First Trailer for Indie 'Meadowland' Starring Olivia Wilde & Luke Wilson

    Meadowland Trailer

“Think I’m going to get it on you? Think I’m going to infect you?” Cinedigm has released the first official trailer for Meadowland, the feature directorial debut of cinematographer Reed Morano. This premiered at Tribeca and stars Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson as a couple grieving from “an unimaginable loss”, struggling as everything becomes “unhinged”. It looks like a very powerful worth-seeing drama, with some deeply emotional performances by Wilde and Wilson. The cast also includes Juno Temple, Elisabeth Moss, Giovanni Ribisi, John Leguizamo, Ty Simpkins, Luke Wilson, Kevin Corrigan, Kid Cudi and Merritt Wever. ›››

    The Peanuts Movie Final Trailer

“Okay Snoopy – let’s do this!” 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Animation have debuted the newest official trailer for The Peanuts Movie, one final push before this movie hits theaters in just over two months. The Peanuts Movie brings all your favorite Charles Schulz characters to the big screen: Charlie Brown, Sally, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, Woodstock, Linus, Lucy, Pig-Pen and Patty. I love the animation style on this, it looks like a sleek mix of classic old school cartoons and new school computer animation, and it fits this story so well. Plus, this looks like so much fun. You won’t stop smiling during this! Take one last look below. ›››

  • First Trailer for Adam McKay's Surprise Banker Comedy 'The Big Short'

First Trailer for Adam McKay's Surprise Banker Comedy 'The Big Short'

    The Big Short Trailer

“There’s some shady stuff going down.” Surprise! No one had any idea this was coming out, but here it is. Paramount has suddenly dropped the trailer for a comedy called The Big Short, which they’re pushing out to theaters by the end of this year. It’s kind of a big comedy version of The Wolf of Wall Street, about a group of bankers who decide to pull off a huge defrauding scheme to take the banks for their money during the economic crash of 2008. The all-star cast includes Brad Pitt (who also produced it), Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Karen Gillan, Marisa Tomei, Melissa Leo, plus of course, Steve Carell. This looks like it might be fun, if not a refreshing comedy break from all the Star Wars and Hunger Games this winter. ›››

James Bond - Heineken Boat Escape

Open Your World. This is for Bond fans, and just because it’s awesome. Yes, it’s shameless advertising being plugged for no other reason than it’s cool. But it’s such a cool video, and I’m a Bond nerd so I can’t help but feature it. Heineken has debuted their latest TV commercial as a tie-in promotion for Spectre, the 24th Bond movie, starring Daniel Craig as James Bond. Craig stars in this short 90 second spot as 007 escaping by boat, and of course because it’s Heineken, they make it fun and toss in a lovely lady who gets pulled in (literally). They made one of these for Skyfall too (also below), but this one is perhaps a bit better. Enjoy! ›››

  • Short New Trailer for 'Burnt' with Bradley Cooper as Chef Adam Jones

Short New Trailer for 'Burnt' with Bradley Cooper as Chef Adam Jones

    Burnt Trailer

“If you try to start a new restaurant, there are at least a dozen people who will try to have you killed.” Roadshow Films has unveiled an intense new 60-second trailer for John Wells’ Burnt, the drama about an ambitious top chef named Adam Jones, which was the former title of the film. Bradley Cooper stars as Adam Jones, a chef who once had it all, lost it all, and wants to try and get it all again. They actually convey this pretty well in 60 seconds, it should be an interesting film to watch. I’m not sure if the incessant rattling of those spoons/whisks is something everyone can handle. The cast includes Alicia Vikander, Jamie Dornan, Sienna Miller, Uma Thurman, Emma Thompson, Daniel Brühl and Omar Sy. Fire it up! ›››

Watch: Extended 5-Min IMAX Trailer for Robert Zemeckis' 'The Walk'

    The Walk Extended IMAX Trailer

“No matter where I was going, or what I was doing, I was always searching for the perfect place to hang my wire.” Sony has debuted one last extended nearly 5-minute long IMAX trailer for Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Philippe Petit. It takes palce in the 1970s, when Petit came to New York and strung a tight rope between the original two World Trade Towers. This shows how much the story involves many other people who helped him along the way, like his mentor played by Ben Kingsley, and his girlfriend, played by Charlotte Le Bon. The cast also includes James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz & Steve Valentine. I think it looks really good, I’m still looking forward to seeing this – hitting theaters soon. ›››

  • Dinos Speak in International Trailer for Pixar's 'The Good Dinosaur'

Dinos Speak in International Trailer for Pixar's 'The Good Dinosaur'

    The Good Dinosaur International Trailer

“You got no business being out here.” The newest international trailer for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur has debuted, and it actually features footage of the dinosaurs speaking! We know they all have voices, but as of yet we haven’t heard much of them in any of the trailers for Pixar’s second completely original movie out this year. The main voice we get to hear is that of Sam Elliott as the T-Rex named Butch, plus a little bit of Raymond Ochoa as Arlo, the main green apatosaurus that befriends the little human boy. Remember the concept in this flips things around – dinosaurs evolved to talk, humans are pets. And it still looks wonderful. ›››

Watch: Kristen Wiig in US Trailer for Sebastián Silva's 'Nasty Baby'

    Nasty Baby Trailer

“It’s always going to be a little weird…” Get ready for the wack. The Orchard has debuted a new official US trailer for Sebastián Silva’s Nasty Baby, which will be hitting limited theaters in the US next month for those interested. Starring Kristen Wiig along with Tunde Adebimpe and Sebastián Silva himself, this funky indie comedy is about a “close-knit” trio of friends who figure out how to navigate the choice of having a baby. This is a very peculiar trailer that gets a little wacky at the end, but I still dig it. A nice twist on the conventional trailer, and they know the exact audience they’re going for. Get ready for the nasty. Have fun! ›››
