One weekend. Two events. Three countries, three stadiums.

For the past few days, I’ve done very little but play Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a new video game made by the well-known spa company Konami. I’ve been sneaking and shooting through deserts and forests. I’ve infiltrated bases, crippled soldiers, and taken four showers. It has been wonderful.

Fallout Shelter is fun, but only for a while; you tend to hit a wall once everyone’s happy and you’ve built a lot of stuff. This would be the point most people uninstall the game, or at least ignore it, but HarrisonHutcheon had something more drastic in mind.

If you live in a big city you’ve probably seen many poster walls around that are plastered with an ever-changing sequence of ads, sometimes a whole row of the same thing and other times just a assortment of stuff or, when worse comes to worst, every Mortdecai character poster in sequence. It appears Square Enix has put a few anti-cyborg propaganda posters into the mix on some of those walls in NYC. Very interesting.

As I noted this morning, Call of Duty is one of those rare things I like. I like the campaigns because the stories are usually decently told and efficiently delivered—I can play through each new one in a couple sessions, and playing them again never feels like a daunting proposition. And I like the multiplayer because it’s still fun even if I’m getting my ass kicked, which is not usually how multiplayer feels to me.

“You may pose with a prop in a brandishing manner, so long as no reasonable person would interpret for anything other than dramatic effect. ” The cosplay rules for the North American League of Legends Summer Finals are an entertaining read.

Metal Gear lore is remarkably complicated and goofy. Michael Huber at GameTrailers tries to quickly sift through it all and distill it down to the main points. I think it pretty much works! There’s a ton of noise in these games (I mean Para-Medic talked about movies so much, and that one guy kept shitting his pants, etc.), so it can be hard to remember what matters in the big picture. So maybe this will help you as you prep for The Phantom Pain here in a couple weeks.

The Flock is a multiplayer horror game that ends after too many people die . Cool idea! The game itself? Freaky, but limited.

Today, I am going to attempt Mario Maker’s “100 Mario challenge,” a mode where you are given 100 lives to clear a set number of courses created by other players. Who knows what I will find?
