  • Fallout 4 Far Harbor: Tips To Get You Ready

The Fallout 4 Far Harbor downloadable content pack is out now, and it brings with it over 20 hours of content. New quests, weapons, gear and enemies await you. Preparing for the new challenges ahead? Read this guide for our Fallout 4 Far Harbor tips to get you ready for your next Wasteland adventure.

To start Far Harbor, boot up Fallout 4 after installing the DLC and load your regular save. A quest will automatically pop-up on the Pip Boy, which directs you to the Far Harbor. The area is essentially an entirely new map that is separate from the Commonwealth. Before you step in however, make sure you do the following to be as prepared as possible.

    Ready up for Rads

The area’s fog is pretty high in radiation, so bring lots of RadAway, Rad-X, and some rad-resistant armor with you. Higher-level and legendary enemies tend to lurk in the radioactive fog too, so be ready to fight if you’re venturing into it.

    Stock up on Caps

The first few merchants you’ll come across in the area will carry parts of what is currently the game’s best armor, Recon Marine. Unfortunately, it is really expensive. Be prepared to spend at least 37,000 caps to acquire it. Start saving!

    Get the Harpoon Gun

One of the merchants in Far Harbor sells an insanely overpowered harpoon gun named Admiral’s Friend. The gun does double damage to a target at full health, and the harpoon itself can be picked up after firing. However, it can only fire one at a time and has a pretty slow reload system, so keep that in mind when whipping it out in a fight.

If your preference swings more toward rifles, we recommend not buying one from the Far Harbor merchants, but opting for a specialized rifle named Old Reliable. This weapon can be purchased later in an area called Acadia. Old Reliable shoots an additional projectile, which is a nice bonus to have.

    Bring Valentine

Although it is not mentioned in the game, Detective Valentine is heavily involved with the main quest story of Far Harbor. You’re going to need him around. Besides, who doesn’t enjoy the wise-cracking quips from this guy?

  • Destiny 2 "Rebooted" – Report

    Destiny 2 "Rebooted" – Report

The upcoming Destiny sequel has been “rebooted,” according to a report from Kotaku. Additionally, the site claims there was a staff reorganization and The Taken King director Luke Smith is now leading development on Destiny 2.

This information was mentioned in a new report about Destiny’s rumored Rise of Iron expansion. A poster for this expansion recently popped up on Reddit and was verified by two sources at Kotaku. The add-on will reportedly be announced at E3 and released in September.

“From what we hear, Destiny 2 was recently rebooted, with Taken King director Luke Smith taking the reins of that project in the wake of a Bungie staff reorganization,” Kotaku reported.

The nature and extent of the reported reboot was not detailed.

Destiny 2 was officially announced in February as part of the Activision Blizzard earnings report. There is basically nothing to go on yet about this game, as all Activision has said is that it’s a “full game sequel” that’s due out in 2017.

Fans won’t have to wait that long for more new Destiny content, however, as the new expansion referenced above is due out later this year. All Activision has officially said is that this year’s expansion is a “large new” one. This suggests it could be on par with The Taken King, rather than the smaller The Dark Below or House of Wolves DLC releases.

According to Kotaku’s sources, the Rise of Iron expansion will add a new raid that is thought to be themed around the Fallen. The raid is “based loosely” on a raid that was cut out of 2015’s House of Wolves, sources said. Overall, the expansion is rumored to be “larger” than The Dark Below and House of Wolves.

You can read Kotaku’s full report here, as well as the site’s big January piece on Destiny’s development here.

Destiny has three expansions thus far: The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King. More recently, the game celebrated hitting 30 million registered players.

  • Latest X-Men: Apocalypse Retro Video Is a Trip Back to the 1980s

While the build-up to the release of X-Men: Apocalypse has featured the expected range of trailers and TV spots, there have also been a number of inventive retro promos. The latest takes the form of an ’80s-style recruitment infomercial. Check it out below:

In a recent interview with Den of Geek, director Bryan Singer spoke about the film’s ’80s setting. “This one [is set] when I was in high school,” he explained. “This was when I discovered my love for movies. And the arcade and video games. So I kind of brought a sense of colour to the film that I was more cautious about.

“You know, I always like the X-Men films to be very much grounded in reality, but here I could get closer to the comic book, I felt. The imagery from the comic book, in certain characters and their costumes, just the overall design. And the music, of course. So yeah, it was just a really nice era to play with.”

X-Men: Apocalypse stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, and Rose Byrne. It opens on May 27.

GameSpot’s review of X-Men: Apocalypse said that it “contains enough action, suspense, heartbreak, and excitement to keep you hooked. The movie juggles a lot of characters, and many don’t get the time to be fully explored or utilized, but the movie never fails to keep you entertained for its entire running time thanks to the action and heart of the protagonists. Apocalypse is a great character in the comics and as a movie villain, the stakes are raised to such a level, you can’t help but wonder how they’ll top this in the next one.”

  • Nintendo 2DS Price Cut Starts Today

Nintendo 2DS Price Cut Starts Today

Starting today, May 20, the Nintendo 2DS portable system is cheaper than ever. The previously announced price cut on the system kicks off today, bringing the handheld’s price down to $80 from $100.

The system launched in 2013, priced at $130. The first price cut, in August 2015, brought the system down to $100. This is the second price cut for the entry-level device.

The 2DS plays almost the entire library of Nintendo 3DS games, but of course without the 3D effect. The system’s standout feature is its design. Unlike past models, this one does not have any hinges.

Nintendo says, “the unique design is built to make it easy for smaller hands to hold.” The price cut is for all 2DS systems, including the bundle that comes with Mario Kart 7.

Head to the Nintendo 2DS landing page on Nintendo’s website to learn more and see a list of retailers.

2DS is considered part of the 3DS family, which has sold 58.85 million units as of March 31. However, there is no word on how many 2DS systems specifically have been sold.

Nintendo’s next system, codenamed NX, is rumored to be a console/mobile hybrid, though the company has yet to share specifics. The system goes on sale in March 2017; it is not expected to show up at E3.

  • Mirror's Edge Catalyst Map Is "Huge," Dev Says

Mirror's Edge Catalyst Map Is "Huge," Dev Says

Just how big is the map in DICE’s upcoming free-running sequel, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst? Pretty big, apparently. The developer has released an interactive 3D map that shows off the game’s Anchor District.–and this is just one of the explorable spaces in the game.

“The whole city will be explorable,” DICE said on Twitter. Today we’ve only shown you the Anchor district, but more will follow.” A follow-up tweet mentioned about the entire map, “It’s huge. And we’ll show you more in the coming weeks. Excited?”

Head to the Catalyst website to poke around the 3D interactive map to learn more.

GameSpot recently played Catalyst and our hands-on impressions can be found here. The game was originally expected to launch on May 24, but after a delay, it’s now due out on June 7 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

One reason for the delay was to give DICE extra time to address the feedback it received from Catalyst’s closed beta. “We’re confident that these extra two weeks will make sure the game is as amazing as possible for you the players,” the developer said when announcing the postponement.

  • Arrested Development Season 5 Will "Definitely Happen," Creator Says

Arrested Development Season 5 Will "Definitely Happen," Creator Says

A fifth season of quirky comedy Arrested Development is “definitely” going to happen–but not soon. Creator Mitch Hurwitz told Esquire that everyone involved is interested in shooting the next season, but a deal hasn’t been reached yet due to the actors’ busy schedules.

“One of the challenges has been a big studio owns it and they don’t make TV this way typically,” he said. “They sign actors for multiple years of a show, and then they shoot. We’ll get half of the actors available and we won’t quite commit to making the deal, then we’ll lose the other half of the actors.”

Hurwitz said he’s pushing extra hard to make a deal for Arrested Development season five because he thinks there is a “great story to tell.” One of the plot points of the fourth season that is planned to continue in the fifth focuses on a political race, Hurwitz explained. The writers were also “building to a murder mystery” that would be further explored in the next season.

He’s confident a deal will eventually be reached, but that likely won’t happen before this November’s presidential election.

“It’ll happen. It’ll definitely happen,” he said. “Not before the election, but it’s definitely going to happen. I say that because the actors want to do it, the studio wants to do it, Netflix wants to do it, I want to do it. It’s just making it happen. There’s no one resisting.”

Hurwitz is also working on a recut of the fourth season “to make it airable on TV.” This process involved redoing all of the narration and reshooting “a few little things,” he said.

Arrested Development‘s first three seasons aired on Fox in 2003-2006. Netflix revived the series for a fourth season, all 15 episodes of which debuted on the streaming platform in May 2013.

  • New Assassin's Creed Poster Shows Fassbender Striking Iconic Pose

New Assassin's Creed Poster Shows Fassbender Striking Iconic Pose

The movie adaptation of the hugely popular Ubisoft game series Assassin’s Creed might still be months away from release, but the the last few weeks have seen plenty of promotional activity. We’ve had new imagery, the first trailer, and assurances from Ubisoft that the film will actually be good. Now a new, striking poster has been released. Check it out below:

Assassin’s Creed stars Michael Fassbender and comes to cinemas on December 21, 2016. The movie is directed by Justin Kurzel, and co-stars Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael Kenneth Williams.

In March it was reported a sequel was already in development, and that Fassbender was on board. Despite the mediocre track record of video game movies, the calibre of the cast and Ubisoft’s commitment to creative control over this project are unusual.

Ubisoft’s head of content Azaïzia Aymar sought to assure fans last week that this film would stand apart from previous attempts to bring popular games to the big screen. “There is always a first,” he stated on Twitter. “Assassin’s Creed will be that one, mark my words.”

Additionally, with no new mainline Assassin’s Creed game coming out this year, the film’s marketing team has more space and opportunity to promote the picture, according to Ubisoft.

It has also been reported that a VR experience is being developed, to tie into the release of Assassin’s Creed. As reported by Eurogamer, it will feature scenes “filmed alongside the movie.” It is being made by Fox Studios and the VR company Practical Magic.

  • Gran Turismo Sport Beta Cancelled

The Gran Turismo Sport beta has been cancelled, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed.

Speaking to VideoGamer, Yamauichi said that delivering a beta requires as much work as completing work on the full game. As a result, developer Polyphony Digital has decided to scrap the beta and focus on launching the full game this year.

“That’s something that I’m very, very sorry about,” he said. “In order to do a beta test we have to make a gold master of the beta test code, and for us it actually takes as much effort as to finish the real master code of the actual game.”

“Considering the release timing that we announced, we decided that we just don’t have enough time to do two gold masters for the game. By omitting that it saves us about three months of time.”

He later clarified that it is “most likely” a beta for the game will not be available at all prior to the game’s launch.

Gran Turismo Sport was first announced last October and, at the time, there were plans for a beta version to be available in early 2016.

During an event held in London, Gran Turismo Sport’s release date was confirmed as November 15 in Japan, Asia, and North America. The PS4-exclusive racing sim will launch on November 18 in the UK.
