  • Fast and Furious 8 Will Feature Some Seriously Cool Vehicles

Fast and Furious 8 Will Feature Some Seriously Cool Vehicles

While the Fast and Furious movies are attracting increasingly bigger names to their casts, every bit as important are the vehicles that they will end up driving (and no doubt crashing.) Fast & furious 8 is currently shooting in Iceland, and new images of these latest rides have been released by Universal. Check them out in the gallery below:

The movie is directed by Straight Outta Compton‘s F. Gary Gray. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jason Statham are all returning from the earlier films, and will be joined by the likes of Charlize Theron, Kurt Russell, and Helen Mirren.

In February, Diesel announced the release dates for the next three parts in the series, with part 8 arriving in 2017, and the others following in 2019 and 2021. He also told Variety that there were plans for spinoffs. “We’ve written out story lines for various characters,” he said. “We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating it with a lot of class.”

Fast & Furious 8 hits theaters on April 14, 2017.

  • Marvel and Fox Have "Talked" About a Superhero Movie Team-up–Report

Marvel and Fox Have "Talked" About a Superhero Movie Team-up–Report

The appearance of Spider-Man in this summer’s Captain America: Civil War would’ve been highly unlikely a few years ago. With Sony, not Marvel, holding the theatrical right to Spidey, it was the only commercial disappointment of 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that led to the deal between the two studios. It has now been rumoured that similar talks are happening the scenes between Marvel and Fox, who have control of the X-Men and the Fantastic Four on the big screen.

    3086925-capw.jpg

As reported by Comicbookmovie.com, the latest episode of Collider Heroes featured producer Matt Key. “I’ve heard from a few of my sources, my little birds that Fox and Marvel have kind of talked,” he revealed. “Like there’s interest from Fox, like, ‘Ooh, y’know, what they did with Sony and Spider-Man is actually pretty cool, like, maybe…’

“We’re years away from that ever possibly happening, but I think that’s what it would take. Fox joining hands with Marvel.”

Obviously this is just a rumour, and a vague one at that, but the precedent set by the Sony deal gives it some credence.

In addition, Marvel and Fox have already struck a deal over the use of X-Men properties on TV. Marvel has retained the small screen rights to those characters, and the upcoming FX show Legion will be a partnership between the two studios. Another Fox/Marvel show, Hellfire, is also in development.

  • Street Fighter 5's Next Update Will Include Balrog and Ibuki, Watch New Trailer Here

Street Fighter 5‘s next update will include two new characters and launches on July 1, Capcom has announced..

The boxer Balrog will be returning to the fighting game series with both new and familiar moves in his arsenal. Balrog will be rolled out alongside Ibuki, who was originally scheduled for a May release, but was delayed. The update will also include the long-awaited story mode.

Balrog was showcased in a new video shown at CEO 2016, a fighting game tournament that is a part of the Capcom Pro Tour 2016. The trailer also showed short glimpses of upcoming characters Juri and Urien.

Balrog was a part of the roster in Super Street Fighter IV, an update for 2008’s Street Fighter IV. His Street Fighter V incarnation appears to possess a number of rush-down and overhead punches, as well as a spinning punch that allows him to bypass projectiles. Balrog’s V-trigger appears to be an executable move that rushes forward and can possibly be chained into other moves.

Capcom has been releasing regular updates for Street Fighter 5. Previously, a trailer showcasing the ninja warrior Ibuki was shown. She will be available at the end of June, along with the game’s Story Mode.

Balrog will be the game’s fourth DLC character, following Alex, Guile, and Ibuki. The remaining characters are Juri and Urien. All six characters are earnable through gameplay without having to pay, though they can also be purchased with real money. Street Fighter V is currently available for PlayStation 4 and PC.

  • Overwatch's Torbjorn Is Being Nerfed, Here's How and When

Overwatch's Torbjorn Is Being Nerfed, Here's How and When

Overwatch‘s Torbjorn character is being nerfed–but not so soon.

Game director Jeff Kaplan said in a Reddit thread titled “Torbjorn is utterly ruining the game on PS4” that a patch next month will reduce the character’s effectiveness substantially.

“In an upcoming patch, we will reduce the damage done by Torbjorn’s turret by 30% on Xbox One and PS4. PC will remain unchanged,” he explained (via Kotaku).

The update will come out in “mid to late July,” Kaplan said. The exact timing will depend on certification processes from Sony and Microsoft.

    3086572-overwatch.jpg

Torbjorn is a defense-focused character. His arsenal includes a rivet gun and a hammer. As mentioned, he can also build upgradeable turrets–but they won’t be as deadly for much longer.

  • Here's Some Footage From Marvel's Canceled Daredevil Open World Game

Unseen64, the site that documents canceled video games, has published a new video that brings to light some of the events surrounding the demise of an open-world Daredevil game.

As the video explains, Daredevil: The Man Without Fear (based on and inspired in part by the Frank Miller comic book of the same name) was in the works at developer 5000ft Inc. It began its life as a “small” third-person game for PlayStation 2. However, with the knowledge that a Daredevil movie was in the works, the game’s scope increased and it became an open-world title. It was also at this time that two new platforms were added: Xbox and PC.

But it never saw the light of day. Check out the video above to get the full rundown of what led to the game’s eventual cancellation in June 2004.

The Daredevil game was officially announced in early 2002, but no playable version of the game ever surfaced during subsequent E3s or company presentations. A Game Boy Advance Daredevil game, developed externally, was released concurrently with the Ben Affleck movie in 2003.

Head to Unseen 64’s website to learn more about canceled games.

  • Link Will Always Be Hero of Main Zelda Games, Miyamoto Says – Report

At E3 2016 earlier this month, Nintendo revealed that it considered making Princess Zelda the main character of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This idea was ultimately rejected (more on that below). Now, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto has spoken up to say “Link is the hero and that will not change” for the mainline Zelda games.

However, he left the door open for the possibility of a Zelda spinoff game to feature a female character.

This came up in an interview with Gamekult. Nintendo Everything transcribed the question and answer from French; check it out below.

GameKult: We regularly talk about the possibility to include a female character in a Zelda game for several years. Considering her important role in the story and the name of the series, can we expect to see in the future a game with Zelda as the main protagonist? If Tingle managed to have two games in his glory on DS, surely it is possible to do something, right?

Miyamoto: “We clearly talked with the team to make a game centered about Sheik, so I cannot say it is impossible to see something of the sort in the future, but in the classic games in the series, Link is the hero and that will not change. For the rest, you have to be patient and see what happens!”

At E3, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma explained why Princess Zelda could not be the playable hero in Breath of the Wild.

“…if we have princess Zelda as the main character who fights, then what is Link going to do?” he said. “Taking into account that, and also the idea of the balance of the Triforce, we thought it best to come back to this [original] makeup.”

Breath of the Wild is scheduled to launch in 2017 for Wii U and NX. For lots more on the game, check out all of GameSpot’s coverage here.

There is no word yet on who is writing installments No. 2 and 3, but release dates of March 2017 and September 2017 are listed for them.

Andromeda the game was originally scheduled to come out in 2016, but in May, BioWare announced that the game is now coming in “early 2017.” The game was delayed “to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be,” BioWare said at the time.

  • New Sonic Game Coming in 2017

New Sonic Game Coming in 2017

After confirming a new entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series was in development earlier this week, Sega has now revealed a new title will be out in 2017.

Sonic Team executive Takashi Iizuka confirmed the news during a Sonic 25th anniversary event in Tokyo, according to Gematsu.

    3086565-sonic.png

“We at Sonic Team are developing a completely new game,” Iizuka said earlier this week. “The most important thing is not the fact that the series survived for 25 years, but how many games [were] developed. Our goal [is to] add something new and overcome any potential hardships.”

The next Sonic game is Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, which will arrive for Nintendo 3DS on September 27. The game was previously expected to come out in 2015 before it was delayed. For more on Fire & Ice, check out GameSpot’s preview from E3 2016.
