It’s a little awkward for Sony right now with respect to Kevin Hart, but the comic’s new film, with co-star Josh Gad, is still opening in January, and we’ve got the latest trailer to prove it. And what is it with Hart being hired as the guy to make awkward guys’ lives easier? In Get Hard he helps Will Ferrell get ready for prison, and here he helps Josh Gad prepare for his wedding by allowing the guy to act like he has real friends. This new Wedding Ringer UK trailer has a bit of new footage and some jokes that you might not have seen.
The Wedding Ringer opens on January 16. Trailer via YouTube.
Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.

One of the most obvious moments you’ve reached adulthood is when you start talking about kids. Whether someone has kids, they’re thinking about kids, or whatever else, that’s the moment. The thought opens up a huge pandora’s box of other issues too, least important of which is how do you show your kids the Star Wars Saga. The order in which you choose to show you kids the Star Wars movies is a debate regularly had amongst film fans but we always forget one thing. We never consider how the kids feel. It’s just a foregone conclusion that they’re going to like them.
A new video has surface that’s proof positive they do like them, but maybe have a few questions. One father recorded the conversation he had with his five-year-old daughter about Princess Leia’s Slave outfit in Return of the Jedi and the results are priceless, especially when animated. Check out the father daughter Slave Leia video below.
Thanks to Adam Buxton (via Sploid) for this great Slave Leia video.
What I love most about this clip – besides the obvious funny and cute nature of it – is how it perfectly illustrates the way a generation gap can change how you view a movie. When you were a kid, you probably didn’t think anything of the Slave Leia outfit. Either it was just another outfit, or maybe you found it provocative, but most kids in the Eighties didn’t think it was offensive at all. Fast-forward a few years and you can totally see how it objectifies not only the character, but an entire gender. Here Buxton tries to explain that to his daughter but she flat out rejects it, instead sticking to her belief that it’s just a good looking piece of fashion. It’s just a wonderful little moment.
The animation to the video was done by The Brothers McLeod. Fine work all around.

A filmmaker would be the first to admit that sometimes, there are leaps of logic in their movies. The main response is, “It’s a movie.” The whole point is to show you things that are impossible and exciting, logic be dammed. But that’s not the place CinemaSins lives in. Their “Everything Wrong With” videos thrive in that space between fun and logic, nitpicking even the most stupid little thing.
This time though, it just so happens their latest video – Guardians of the Galaxy – is timed with the film’s director, totally independently, explaining one of the “sins” of Guardians of the Galaxy. That being the fact Peter Quill’s Walkman and the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 still works after 26 years. Below, see the video and read Gunn’s response – which also includes some clarification of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers: Infinity War quotes.
First up, here is the latest CinemaSins video which, as usual, is entertaining in the most infuriating way.
Coincidentally, in time with that release James Gunn wrote a statement on Facebook. It primarily addresses some misconceptions about the Guardians/Avenger crossover quotes but it also says this:
MORE IMPORTANTLY, I’m getting a lot of questions about the AA batteries in Quill’s Walkman, and how Quill’s Walkman can survive for so long.
GUYS, THEY HAVE THE ALIEN TECHNOLOGY TO TRAVEL FASTER THAN LIGHT BETWEEN PLANETS, I think they can figure out an alternative power source for the Walkman, and they likely also have technology to slow the degradation to the tape and player. This seems obvious to me.
Love it. So perfect.
As for the rest of the statement, he’s basically referring to quotes such as this one and this one. I thought he’d been pretty clear that he won’t say whether or not the Guardians and Avengers will cross over, but that each is independent, important and when and if it happens, it won’t be like people expect. It’s all in shades of grey at this moment. But still, some people are confused and here’s Gunn’s response:
I’m not going to tell anyone what happens to the Guardians, especially two or three movies down when who even knows if I’ll be around anymore. Whatever the case, there’s been a lot of anger around me – at me, from people defending me at others, and so on. And it’s all people who love Marvel, like me, and just want to see awesome and amazing and moving stories.
There are many more important things going on in the world right now, but this is clogging up my feed, so let me do my best to set the record straight. Perhaps sometimes I say things imperfectly, unclearly, or inelegantly. All I’ve ever tried to say was the Guardians are an important part of the MCU, and they definitely share an existence with the Avengers and other characters in the MCU. But the week after the movie opened I walked into the Marvel offices, and I sat down with Kevin Feige and some of the other folks at Marvel. We had a long discussion about where the Guardians were headed and what was happening to them. I told them exactly what I wanted to do with the sequel to Guardians, and everyone was on board and excited. And, regarding the bigger picture, we all agreed on one thing, and that was to keep huge chunks of the Guardians separate from the Marvel heroes of earth, because they have a whole galaxy to explore. We wanted to use them as a way to make the MCU bigger, not smaller. We wanted to make sure they have their own mythos, as opposed to only one that is intertwined with the earthbound characters. They ARE connected, of course, but that connection would not be the purpose of their stories and fictional lives.
When I’m asked about the Guardians and their future, and whether they’ll meet up with the Avengers I really don’t have all that much to say, because some of it isn’t decided yet, and I don’t want to give away what is decided. So I speak in these general terms. They aren’t things that I’m just saying on the spot, and they aren’t things that have been decided on by me alone. But they are sometimes incredibly general, and that can lead to those words being taken in a lot of different ways.
So, I’m sorry for all the different ways my words have been taken. Overall, we’ll just have to wait and see where the Guardians go, who they meet, and what they do in the MCU. But know that I love them and will take the best care of them I possibly can for as long as I’m around.

Actors have been “overpaid” for a long time. For the past few decades the biggest stars were getting 10, 20, 30 million dollars for a movie that maybe wasn’t even that good. Recently, things have begun to go away from that huge upfront sum. No, stars are taking less money upfront for more options on the back end. That encourages a better product, but also creates much bigger pay days. Sandra Bullock made around $75 million for Gravity. Robert Downey Jr. around $100 million for The Avengers. But somehow, you’re okay with that because the movies are good and they took a gamble at the beginning.
Most of these stars did not take a gamble and, in most cases, you can’t blame them. Forbes has complied their list of the ten most overpaid actors of 2014. They look at the “last three films each actor starred in before June 2014,” add the grosses, then divide by the total salary. What’s left is a return on investment number. The amount of money each actor grosses for every $1 paid. None of them lose money, but some make less than others. Read the most overpaid actors 2014 list.
Thanks to Forbes for this most overpaid actors 2014 list. Here it is.
If you read the Forbes article, it’s got the breakdown for a few of the actors – the movies made, salaries, etc. It also admits it’s not a fool proof system but, still, it’s pretty interesting. It’s especially interesting when you realize Sandler has topped the list the past two years. Maybe that’s why he signed a lucrative deal with Netflix, fearing his stock is dropping.
What do you think of the list?

![‘The Interview’ Now Streaming via YouTube, Google Play, and Xbox [Updated]](https://playerschoicegames.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/interview-streaming-550x275.png)

UPDATE: The Interview is now available to watch on YouTube, Google Play and XBox. Links for each are below. It will also become available on Netflix, though not day and date with this week’s release.
UPDATE: The Interview is now streaming online via the following links:
Pricing for each is $5.99, and the film is available for purchase for $14.99 in HD.
Sony’s own site www.seetheinterview.com will also stream the film. Why Sony isn’t making the film available on the Playstation Network is something of a mystery, though we wonder if that has to do with PSN’s history of being hacked.
Variety also reports there’s a deal in the works to stream the film via Netflix, though the date for a Netflix debut (it won’t be today or tomorrow) has yet to be announced.
Original article follows.
The strangest and most fluctuating subject of the last week has been Sony’s film The Interview – threatened, pulled by theaters, canceled altogether by Sony, then said to be only postponed, and now set to play an ever-expanding set of indie theaters starting tomorrow, Christmas Day. In the latter half of that chain of events there was also the report that we’ll be able to see The Interview on VOD this week, but no details have been forthcoming, until now. A new report says Sony is finalizing a deal that will put The Interview on YouTube — for a price — starting Christmas Day.
CNN and Variety report that the YouTube deal is tentative right now, and that other digital/VOD providers could also follow suit. So the film won’t only be on YouTube. No price point has been reported. (One of the other digital outlets is said to be Google Play.)
We don’t know how big theater chain owners are communicating with Sony on this point as a VOD plan emerges. There is contradictory reporting about how communications have gone between Sony and the theater chains so far, but chains have been very resistant to anything like a day and date VOD release for major studio films. While The Interview wasn’t planned as a day and date VOD pioneer, it is turning out to be such a thing, which is significant, even if the deal doesn’t end up being a huge paradigm shift.

Capcom and Sony have announced that upcoming Resident Evil HD remake will support cross-buy on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, meaning if you buy one version of the $20 game, you’ll get the other free.
There is something of a catch to the deal, however, as it only works if you preorder the games from PlayStation Network and live in North America. If you do preorder, you’ll not only receive both versions, but also an exclusive theme, Capcom explains on its blog.

The Resident Evil HD remake also supports pre-loading on PS3 and PS4, meaning people who preorder can play the game the second it unlocks next month.
The game, a high-definition version of 2002’s Resident Evil REmake for GameCube (which itself is a remake of the 1996 original), was announced in August. It will output in 1080p on Xbox One and PS4.
The new Resident Evil remake looks a lot better than the original. You can see for yourself through this set of comparison images, released last month.
The Resident Evil HD release date is January 20, 2015. The game is also coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
In addition to the Resident Evil remake, Capcom will release Resident Evil: Revelations 2 in 2015 for consoles and PC. The publisher may also be working on Resident Evil 7, according to a report.

Right now, Sony’s game-streaming service PlayStation Now is available only for Sony devices such as PlayStation consoles and Bravia TVs. But that’s going to change in 2015, when Sony makes PlayStation Now available on third-party devices, beginning with Samsung Smart TVs.
Sony and Samsung have announced a partnership to bring PlayStation Now to “select” Samsung Smart TVs in the first half of 2015 in the United States and Canada. PS Now will be available as an app that can be downloaded through the Samsung Smart Hub.

Samsung says PS Now on Samsung TVs will offer “all functionality of the service,” including the ability to earn trophies, play games online, and save progress to the cloud. You’ll need a DualShock 4 controller, sold separately, to use PS Now on your Samsung TV.
“Since we first introduced PlayStation Now at CES 2014, our vision has been to open the world of PlayStation to the masses by offering the service on the devices they use every day,” Sony executive Masayasu Ito said. “Partnering with Samsung is a key step toward realizing this vision, as we can reach a broader audience of consumers who may not own a PlayStation console to show them why gaming with PlayStation is such a unique and amazing experience.”
If you’re heading to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month, you can visit the Samsung booth to try out PS Now on Samsung TVs.
PS Now, currently in beta, allows users to stream a variety of PlayStation 3 titles to devices such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Bravia TVs. Games are available for a variety of rental periods, while Sony also plans to offer a Netflix-style subscription offer some day.
