It can be easy to forget when you spend most of your time treating them as obstacles and target practice, but the NPCs of Grand Theft Auto V are people too. They’ve got their own lives to live, their own conversations to have, their own problems to solve.

We’ve seen the “cop on the run with an endangered witness” plot before, but with Reese Witherspoon as the cop and Sofia Vergara as the witness, things take a couple turns that are probably new to the genre. Hot Pursuit casts Witherspoon as a straight-laced, possibly inept cop who is charged with escorting Vergara, the widow of a drug dealer, to a safe location. The first Hot Pursuit trailer shows all sorts of antics as the two attempt to survive the journey.
Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses), directs, and Hot Pursuit also features John Carroll Lynch, Rob Kazinsky, and Richard T. Jones. (Oh, and Jim Gaffigan, whose cameo kinda steals the trailer.) The film looks like a big comedy with a little bit of action — maybe in the vein of Heat, with a little Midnight Run thrown in. It’s fun seeing Witherspoon being loose and kind of goofy, and the film throws her personality against Vergara’s Modern Family-honed approach to comedy, maybe to good effect.
Hot Pursuit will be released on May 8. Trailer via People.

Chilean director Alejandro Amenábar, who directed Open Your Eyes, The Sea Inside, and The Others, goes back to dark atmospheres once again with Regression, which stars Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke. (You’ve seen the picture above, so you probably knew that.)
We find their characters in Minnesota in 1990, where Watson’s character accuses her father and others of coercing her into some unspeakable deeds. Hawke plays a detective investigating, and David Thewlis plays a psychologist who helps with the inquiry. Now we’ve got a Regression teaser, and a great poster, both of which you can see below.
There’s almost certainly more to this case than what this teaser shows, and the story seems to draw on a few different instances of real-world crimes and paranoia. The ’80s and ’90s accusations of parents involved in Satanic ritual abuse clearly factor into this, as do other cases of accused and proven mass sexual abuse. So is Watson’s memory of a black mass something that has been induced, or that she created to deal with other abuse, or is there some legit Satanism at play here?
Regression is set for release on August 28. David Dencik, Lothaire Bluteau, and Devon Bostick also appear.
Trailer via YouTube.
Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.

I love this image of James Franco, but he’ll probably look a bit more dignified when he travels back in time to stop the killing of John F. Kennedy. The pic above is from the last time the actor was involved in an assassination story, when he was the one potentially doing the killing. Now he’s changing sides. Franco is now set to star in the 11/22/63 TV series, which Hulu will air as an adaptation of the novel by Stephen King, produced by J.J. Abrams’ company Bad Robot.
In the 2011 novel by King, a Maine-based high school teacher is shown a time portal hidden in the back of a diner. The man who shows him this portal — which always sends anyone who travels through it back to 1958 — had planned to use it to prevent the assassination of JFK.
But that first guy’s poor health made the job impossible, and so he passes the responsibility on to the teacher. But there are problems with the plan, not least with the fact that time doesn’t really want to be altered.
The Wrap reports Franco’s starring gig as the teacher Jake Epping, and says he’s a producer on the nine-hour “event series.”
The 11/22/63 TV series will air on Hulu, but as a production is based at J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot Productions. Bridget Carpenter (The Red Road, Friday Night Lights”), who will write and executive produce the series.

Dragon Ball XENOVERSE is launching on 2.17.2015 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Steam!

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the return of The Lost Vikings, who make their debut in Heroes of the Storm. Unlike other heroes, The Lost Vikings start without any basic abilities and have three units which players control.
Each Viking can move, attack, and be killed individually. Respawn timers are also unique to each Viking. The Vikings are required to be near each other when the player wants to use their ultimate ability, Longboat Raid. Grouping the Viking’s together also allows them to break the chests on the Blackheart’s Bay map very quickly.
Each Viking has unique traits. Erik the Swift moves the fastest of the trio and possesses longer attack range. Olaf the Stout has the most health of the group, has faster regeneration, and can charge to slow enemies. Baleog the Fierce deals splash damage to enemy units behind those of his target. Blizzard also revealed alternative skins for the Vikings, including Pajama Party and Master skins.
The Lost Vikings game was first released in 1992 as a puzzle action game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was added to Battle.net as a free download in 2014.
The Lost Vikings were first confirmed for Heroes of the Storm by Blizzard during Blizzcon last year. The game entered closed beta last month, which players can gain immediate access to if they purchase the Founder’s Pack. For more on Heroes of the storm, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage.
