The Emotions of 'Inside Out' React to 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer

Inside Out / The Avengers: Age of Ultron

In a cute bit of cross promotion from New Zealand, the folks at Walt Disney in the southern hemisphere have used the emotions from this summer’s Pixar Animation film Inside Out as a way to help one of Disney’s other big summer blockbusters, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Footage from the promising Pixar flick has been edited around one of the trailers for the Marvel Studios sequel to make it seem as if Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith)Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black) and Disgust (Mindy Kaling) are watching and reacting to the trailer. It’s a clever way to promote both the Disney flicks. Watch! ›››

  • Jeff Daniels Takes Major Role in Two-Part 'Divergent' Finale 'Allegiant'

Jeff Daniels Takes Major Role in Two-Part 'Divergent' Finale 'Allegiant'

    Jeff Daniels

Following the trend of Harry Potter, The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games, we already know that The Divergent Series: Allegiant will be split into two films. Allegiant – Part 1 will arrive on March 18th, 2016 and Allegiant – Part 2 will arrive on March 24th, 2017. That meas the entire franchise will have been release in just four years. That would be more impressive if the films had a little more substance (they’re not terrible, just underwhelming), but young adult sci-fi is all the rage right now. Anyway, the finale might up the ante as THR reports Dumb & Dumber and “The Newsroom” star Jeff Daniels has joined. ›››

Cecily Strong Joining Melissa McCarthy in 'Michelle Darnell' Comedy

    Cecily Strong

After bringing comedy to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last week, “Saturday Night Live” cast member Cecily Strong is getting ready to start a feature film career as well. The comedienne has a role in the indie comedy The Bronze, but now she’s lined up her first studio feature film comedy as Deadline reports Strong is taking a role in Michelle Darnell, the next comedy led by The Heat and Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy. As of now there’s no indication as to what role Strong has in the film, but her presence is enough to have some hope that this comedy actually turns out better than McCarthy’s Tammy. ›››

Nicole Kidman Panics After Losing Her Kids in 'Strangerland' US Trailer

    Strangerland

There seems to be an influx of solid films coming from Australia lately, and one more will be arriving this summer. Strangerland marks the directorial debut of Kim Farrant, and features an impressive cast led by Aussie native Nicole Kidman, joined by Joseph Fiennes and Hugo Weaving. The film follows a couple who become frantic and panicked after their teenage son and daughter disappear in the Australian desert. It sounds like standard thriller fare, but the setting down under certainly makes for a nice change of pace, and looking at this domestic trailer, you can tell the film has some gorgeous cinematography. 'Apocalypse' & 'Wolverine 3' to End Bryan Singer's X-Men Universe

    X-Men

Last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past did a spectacular job of essentially rebooting the X-Men franchise, while still meshing the casts of the original trilogy from director Bryan Singer, and the new cast from X-Men: First Class. However, now that there’s a new past timeline intact, it sounds like the old one might be coming to an end for good this time. El Mayimbe, the scoopmaster formerly of Latino Review, posted a juicy rumor to Instagram saying that X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3 will be the final films to have ties to Bryan Singer’s X-Men universe, and everything from now on will concern the X-Men: First Class team. ›››

  • Video Game Hall of Fame Finalists Revealed

Video Game Hall of Fame Finalists Revealed

After a submission and expert voting process, the New York-based Strong National Museum of Play this week announced the finalists for its first wave of inductees to its World Video Game Hall of Fame.

Games were evaluated by experts based on “icon-status, longevity, geographical reach, and the influence it has had on the design of other games, entertainment, popular culture, and society in general.”

You can see the full list of criteria here.

The fifteen finalists are as follows:

Inductees will be announced during a presentation at The Strong Museum in Rochester, NY on Thursday, June 4, at 10:30 AM. They will then be put on display at the museum’s eGameRevolution exhibit.

“The 15 finalists for the World Video Game Hall of Fame span decades, gaming platforms, and geographies–but what they all have in common is their undeniable impact on popular culture and society in general,” The Strong Museum’s Jon-Paul Dyson said in a statement. “Whether it’s the groundbreaking game Pong or a more recent viral sensation like Minecraft, all of these games have helped shape the way that people across the globe play and relate to one another.”

Do you agree with The Strong’s finalists? Let us know in the comments below!

Back in February, GameSpot editors revealed their own picks for games that should be included in the Hall of Fame. My selection, GoldenEye 007, didn’t make the cut.

  • Bloodborne Camera Glitch Turns RPG Into an Old School GTA Game

Bloodborne Camera Glitch Turns RPG Into an Old School GTA Game

A newly discovered Bloodborne glitch shows off the challenging RPG like we’ve never seen it before.

YouTube user PaiNz encountered a strange camera bug that locked the game into a top-down view. Bloodborne, of course, is normally played from a third-person perspective.

It’s reminiscent of older Grand Theft Auto games or the Diablo series. And it’s quite fun to watch.

What do you think? Would you like to play Bloodborne from this perspective? No doubt this new bug would make an already challenging game even tougher. Let us know in the comments.

  • Steam To Get Its First Adults-Only Rated Game

Steam To Get Its First Adults-Only Rated Game

Controversial shooter Hatred will be released for PC via Steam this June, which developer Destructive Creations claims makes it the first game with the Adults Only rating to appear on the digital distribution service. Speaking to Eurogamer, the developer said that the game’s release date of June 1 was chosen so that it would “not interfere with the launch of the biggest game coming out from its native Poland at that time.”

Creative director Jaroslaw Zielinski explained, “Initially we were planning to announce the release date for Hatred on May 19th, but… well honestly speaking we will be playing The Witcher 3 then.”

Hatred was rated Adults Only in North America by the Entertainment Software Rating Board, meaning that it won’t be coming to consoles without the developer making some changes. All three major console manufacturers—Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo—have a policy that forbids the publishing of Adults Only-rated games on their platforms.

The game was pulled from Steam Greenlight in December last year and then reinstated a day later, following an intervention from Valve CEO Gabe Newell. However, Adults Only-rated games have never been made available for sale on Steam before.

For more on the game, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage of Hatred.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Confirmed For Dedicated Servers on PC

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Confirmed For Dedicated Servers on PC

The PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops III will get dedicated servers, developer Treyarch has confirmed. Posting on Twitter, Treyarch director of development Cesar ‘pcdev’ Stastny said that the PC version of the game will “use 100% dedicated servers for all ranked matches.”

This should come as little surprise, given that that Treyarch brought dedicated servers in for 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, as well as for the sequel Black Ops 2. Dedicated servers were also brought in for Call of Duty: Ghosts on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the last-generation consoles. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 also had dedicated servers, but they were unranked, which meant that the server administrator controlled all unlocks.

Stastny also confirmed that the game will ship with an adjustable field of view slider, as has been the case with previous Black Ops titles.

If the news of dedicated ranked servers has piqued your interest in picking up a PC version of the game, you may want to check out the minimum system requirements listed by Treyarch. The multiplayer mode in Black Ops 3 will have wall running similar to that of Titanfall and “Specialist” characters which possess unique weapons and abilities.

Black Ops 3 will feature a playable female lead character, a first for the core series. The campaign will support up to four players co-operatively. For lots more on the game, check out GameSpot’s in-depth hands-on preview from our recent visit to Treyarch’s office in Santa Monica. You can also see some images in the gallery below.
