“I saw her… She is real.” Universal has debuted the first official trailer for the new 2017 version of The Mummy, this time starring Tom Cruise in a movie directed by Alex Kurtzman. Cruise plays Nick Morton, one of the main characters who digs up the new “mummy”, a priestess named Ahmanet played by Sofia Boutella. She unleashes a fury unlike anything seen in modern times, ushering in a “new world of gods and monsters”. The rest of the cast includes Russell Crowe, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Javier Botet. I’m actually a big fan of the 1999 version of The Mummy, and I’m not so sure about this new movie. It looks way too VFX driven and flashy, but it might turn out okay.
