Akira Kurosawa's Ran

Experience one of Akira Kurosawa’s epic masterpieces on the big screen in 4K this winter. Studiocanal has debuted a trailer and a poster for the re-release of the 4K restoration of Kurosawa’s Ran, finished and first released in 1985 – now playing again over 30 years later. The script, partly based on William Shakespeare’s King Lear, depicted a ruthless, bloodthirsty daimyo (warlord), played by Tatsuya Nakadai, who, after foolishly banishing his one loyal son, surrenders his kingdom to his other two sons, who then betray him, thus plunging the entire kingdom into war. If you haven’t seen this film before, now is your chance to get the full on experience. Thankfully it’s getting UK + US restored re-release – now playing at Film Forum in NYC. ›››
