Need For Speed: High Stakes brings EA's fourth installment
of the popular racing franchise to the
Playstation once again. This high-action racing game offers a "High Stakes" mode for multiplayer challenge and the "Hot Pursuit" mode allowing gamers to become police officers participating in high speed chases. |
An all- new "Tournament and Special Events" mode allows
racers to raise funds by winning
races and then use their winnings to pay for repairs, upgrades and new ezotic cars - such as the Jaguar XKR, Lamborghini Diablo SV, Ferrari F50 and the BMW M5- into the game. |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- What can you say? There's no other racing game with possiblities anywhere near what this one has! I've got the PC version, and man, the cars you can download!Wanna wipe out a few cops? Try the McLaren F1 GTR Gulf Edition. If you have the PC version, here's a tip for easy money: Download the Batmobile off this site: http://trackstudio.btwracing.com/other_4_2.shtml (This is NOT an official EA site). Go and purchase this car for $100 in carreer mode. When you go to your garage, you will find it has turned into the Bounus Porsche 911, which is worth $100,000. Buy another Batmobile, and you can then sell one of the Bounus Porches. Keep doing this until you have the desired amount of money. Good luck! :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

coolibop@usa.net Saturday, June 12, 1999 at 12:27:54 I just gave you some codes to use on the game NFS 4. Turns out one part of the easy money part is wrong. You can't gain money when you play the high stakes mode. You can only gain cars, but then sell the extra cars to make tons of money. By advancing my money to better cars I was able to save the cars to both mem. cards and get the new car back. When I sold it I got more money. |

sheshe@epix.net Monday, June 14, 1999 at 18:55:33 I bought Need 4 Speed:HS 2 days ago because I needed a two player game. I had played this before and thought it was cool. Playing in Tournament mode and winning cash resulted in my friend and I fighting over what hot new car to buy. We made a decision however and continued on. Playing hot pursuit with two cops or two runaway crooks was the best thing ever. This game gets an easy 10.0 rating from me. Thanks Spike for convincing me to get a Playstation!! |

Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 05:28:42 This game has it all. The latest music, the latest cars and the fastest tracks. What more could you want in a game?! |

wings@aone.com Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at 01:36:42 I bought NFS4 without ever playing it before, or any other NFS for that matter, and I'll just tell you. If you like a real life racer that responds in almost every way like a real car would. You want a selection of some of the hottest cars available today, and you want a game that'll keep you busy for a while. Then buy this game! p.s. In high stakes mode, if you put the same memory car in both slots (one then the other) when it loads them, and then win the race on player 1, then put the memory car in slot 1, you will get a duplicate of your car for free! Great Game -Flaymz |

andreparanoid@hotmail.com Thursday, May 13, 1999 at 05:11:34 I never played a need 4 speed game, but when i touched in High Stakes i realized the big mistake i made. This car game is one of the best that money can buy,it gots lots of modes to play and awesome cars(i can´t stop thinking about that Mclaren F1).The Hot Pursuit mode will last until the last days of your life and with a friend the joy of play is multiplied by 10.The High Stakes mode test your skills against a friend,if you loose say goodbye to your car,but if you win, CONGRATULATIONS,you´ve got a new car.The cars in this games are beautiful and you can upgrade them and if you got damage in the race you´ll pay for the repairs. There are lots of tracks to run,and you can race them forwards, backwards and mirrored. The only problem that i found in this game was the graphics, but the joy of play it will make you forget about this problem.I will give a 9 to this game(in a rate of 1 to 10). RATING:9 |

terry.edwards@ericsson.com Saturday, May 8, 1999 at 17:42:16 I'm a long time fan, from the days of the original. "High Stakes" is by far the best chapter yet. The way you have to beat parts of the game to advance is ingenious. Saving money gives you a feel of appreciating your machine. The hot pursuit mode is the best! It's our turn to play the long arm of the law! Playstation's best game yet. |

Coolibop@usa.net "Need for Speed 4, High Stakes" is just straight out a great game. You are able to race in a tournament and get better and more powerful cars. You can take the car to a shop and upgrade it. The game is so precise that after each tournament race if you damaged your car it will take away some money for the cost of repairs. If you don't feel much like going into a tournament go into a single race and play against the computer or one of your friends in a two player race. You can play, my favorite, hot pursuit. You can race solo for best time or race your friend or the computer while being chased by the cops. Unlike the hot pursuit on NS3, four allows you to be a cop and chase speeders. The game allows you to be a cop with your friend or against where he'd the bad guy and you are the cop. Also if you and your friend want to race having there car and money on the line then you should go to high stakes. (NOTE: You both have to have a car on separate memory cards.) I will rate this game out (1-5). I'd have to give it a 5! RATING: ***** |
