The story for Daikatan starts
in 2455A.D., in the dark, volcanic caverns of Mt. Fujiyama. A seasoned
team of archaeologists is
searching tirelessly for the mythical Daikatana. While in pursuit of this
treasure,
they are warned by seismologists
that the great volcano will soon erupt. So, the crews work against time
to uncover the sacred, ancient
sword. Within a network of caves, the team at last finds Daikatana's resting-
place. But, the steam and
molten rock begin to seep through fissures in the walls. Celebration gives
way to
terror as volcanic ash begins
to fall like poison snow. Desperate to deliver the Daikatana and save their
own
lives, the archaeologists
try to escape the waking giant. The Daikatana, however, is safely removed
and
transported eighty miles
to Tokyo, where Dr. Toshiro Ebihara and his assistant, Dr. Jarred Benedict,
anxiously
await its arrival. Years
of research finally paid off and, in a matter of months, Ebihara and Benedict
had finally
mastered the secrets of
the Daikatana. Thus, they began planning their time travels.
