The Emerson
Arcadia has
got to be one of the most underrated systems on earth.
It also tends to be
one
of the least collected systems out there.
The graphics are
a cross
between Odyssey^2 and Intellivision, if you can picture it.
The cartridges are
shaped
the same way as Atari 2600 ones, but are about the size
of Beta
videocassettes.
The slot is identical to the one used with the APF MP1000/
Imagination Machine,
although
they are not compatible.
If you notice,
the controllers
look like Intellivision controllers. True, it's the same
design, but it's far
superior.
The side buttons have a light touch, while the disc has
a stick attached
which can
be screwed in or removed. And if you're wondering, yes,
they accept overlays.
Strangely enough,
the power
supply is 12V. Luckily, when I got mine I had a universal
supply that would do
12V.
It also has two outputs(or are they inputs) on the back of
the unit, on the
left and
right sides. What are these for? I certainly haven't figured it out.
Since this system is
somewhat
rare and not many people collect for it, there isn't much
information about
it. When
I get the time, I plan on putting together at least all the
information I have
found
out about it, which isn't much, as well as reviews of a few games.
